QUOTE(rookie93 @ Apr 13 2016, 02:36 PM) by dont giving up for this job means...? i just wait for their reply one day? or i still continue to follow up on them? i kinda think following up is not gonna work anymore.. its like, if they want me, then they'll call me, if not, nothing else I can do. I've been trying on others as well, but it seems tough luck..... I dont know why i'm missing out....unknown university grad? too low pointer? not outstanding enough academically? Last year i read an article saying Singapore have a lack of engineers they're trying to bring in more since their own youths prefer doing medic, law and business. So aaargh.. its so confusing and tiring to dig up all the factors..... Put this job aside and go on look for other jobs. I usually follow up 2-3 times only. In my current employer, they only picking SG citizen or PR due to insufficient quota and the ratio of locals:foreigners is too bias.

QUOTE(Cadence Shen @ Apr 23 2016, 12:00 PM) Hi Guys, Easy to get a job at SG? I have one year working experience at MY. Anything I need to take note when applying job at SG? Please advise. Thanks you so much. No, you need months of patience to get a reply from the employer unless you have the skills that they needed.

QUOTE(vincentleong @ Apr 26 2016, 04:46 PM) Thanks for the info. Looks like I might not have the same luck with my preferred bank DBS. Is it unusual for one to request HR to issue the EP card before one's first day? I have a 3-week gap between employment allocated for relocation purpose and so I thought perhaps I can collect it earlier during the gap and open a local bank account, if this is not an unreasonable request. They sent me some forms to complete ahead of joining, one of which asked for my bank account details, to be submitted on first day. Btw, this sentence seems to be quite common among the banks for required documents: Passport and relevant pass issued by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority of Singapore. Do you have any idea what the bank could have meant with "relevant pass"? Your company HR need to make appointment with MOM for you before process the card itself for thumbprint and photo. Then wait few days for the card to be delivered to your new company. Not sure about the pass but maybe they meant EP card.

QUOTE(WallChecker @ Apr 27 2016, 02:21 AM) Hi guys, I am looking for a room and currently searching for an area that allow me to easily commute to workplace around Marina Mandarin. Initially wanted to stay nearby workplace (Bugis area) but quite expensive. Green, red and yellow line seems to be my alternative (purple slightly further). Anyone can recommend me a nice area (e.g. Kallang, Aljunied etc) that has good surrounding such as food, convenient stores etc? Thanks. Aljunied lo...currently I'm staying at there 5 mins walk to MRT and food stores at Geylang. Nearby is Giant and Fairprice.

QUOTE(Dilemmaz @ May 6 2016, 11:33 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Hi guys,
This is my story so far. For the purpose of keeping my confidentiality, I created an account to voice out and seek for advise and opinions on what should I do.
I am 27 years old this year. I have a bachelors degree in accounting and finance from an australian university.
I have roughly 4 years of working experience. About 1 year in Malaysia and 3 years in Singapore (currently).
I am holding an employment pass and I am looking to apply for PR for the 2nd time.
I worked in a small audit firm in Malaysia for about 1 year and now currently working in an audit firm which has about 40 staffs for 3 years as of today. It is my first job in Singapore.
Now the issue is applying for a PR in Singapore under my current company. My boss put a clause in my contract stating that if I apply PR under this company, upon approval, I would have to serve the company for 3 years. I am in a rush to apply PR because I want to start a family with my wife to be and quickly buy a HDB to settle down. The new PRs are said to need to wait for 3 years before buying a HDB.
Problem is I think I am not too happy working under my boss which I think is very calculative and kiamsiap(stingy).
I am earning 2.7k per month now. I am 27 years old. The yearly increment is only 100 dollars. Normal bonus one month only. I feel like I am going nowhere with this. Furthermore, my company has no benefits at all. I only have 10 days of annual leave per year. Work is very stressful. Boss doesnt appreciates even old staffs. Colleagues are nice and friendly?
I tried applying jobs from jobstreet for the past 6 months. I sent so many out until jobstreet gave me a warning. There are no replies from any of them. I start to wonder if its because I am not a PR? or something wrong with my resume.
I want to know if I am underpaid for my field. I feel very low compared to my other friends as they got promoted in their jobs, get big fat bonuses, so many annual leaves.
Should I apply PR in this company and serve the 3 years? or should I postpone my plans and find another job and apply in other company? I am already 27 and I feel like I am going nowhere. No house, low pay, and etc.
What should i do? Why not try apply to Big 4 or mid-tier firm? 27 is still young though.

QUOTE(Blues89 @ May 11 2016, 09:35 AM) 12 instead of 21 @@" possible, but its like an outsourcing company im not too sure how it works :/ So big reduction. Usually the renewal part is based on performance, well that is in IT industry. Not sure if it's applicable in banking as well.

Got some rather atas places around too, but from my limited experience weekends @ Tanjong Pagar = surreal 'ghost' town lol Quite dead area at night except for few bars in the shopping mall.

QUOTE(Blackdawn @ May 13 2016, 01:25 PM) Malaysian are easier to get EP, don't worry. i don't mind HDB as long as it's not dodgy old flat (something like pinnacle @ duxton), and i don't mind a ghost town so long as there's groceries, been living in a place full of people that i find it difficult to even move around in malls. Agree on this. My housemate now deciding to move to a location nearer to Jurong (most probably Redhill/Queenstown), I almost thought it's Tiong Bahru. Straight give him wtf face...
