QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Feb 15 2016, 05:53 PM) Normal increment in SG range from 2-3% but in M'sia, it's not hard to see 6~7% increment per year basis. Probably to cope with inflation. Inflation is there if you look for it. 2.50 to 3 may not seem like much, but its 20% increase.Nah inflation is not the same. I'm not in the finance industry but just based on what I "feel". Everytime I on holiday back to M'sia, I can feel that prices are like increasing exponentially. Just take one plate of fried rice. I think the price in KL has probably gone from RM4 to RM6/7 in the last 5 years. In SG probably still the same price at the same store or maybe just $0.5 increase. IINM, few months in 2015 SG is actually experiencing deflation instead of inflation. |

QUOTE(CreamMilk @ Feb 26 2016, 10:22 AM) I am drawing RM7.6K gross in msia as a senior exec, got an offer in SG for SGD 4.1k as a consultant. Downgrade.Do not consider landed house & car, is this a downgrade for my life? I don't go luxury food, clubbing..etc. Just average console gamer, occasionally buy some Lego, go oversea travelling with my wife once a year (mostly Asia/Australia region)... Just would like to get some general idea. Dont do it unless ur really despo to get out. |

QUOTE(CreamMilk @ Feb 29 2016, 08:45 AM) I have 8 yrs of experience, 30 yrs old+ Since u despo... Take it lor. But keep in mind they really lowball u wit 4.5ksgd compared to ur myr7k..and after u pay ur rent ur net take home may not be much. Consider that if u also have debt at msia that u gotta settle...I might sound a bit desperate, but I have been searching for an offer for almost 1 year+ None of them offer more than SGD4.5k. There was once I almost took the offer, the HR also a malaysia, he told me they will go for local to save all the hassle (paper work, permit, worry you can't survive in sg...etc) if they willing to pay higher package, no point to look for malaysian. Unless that person is extraordinary, very talented. But at the end I still reject the offer because that' what I thought, too low and no extra allowance. Now another half a year, I am still getting the same range of offer, with some allowance, and this is the job scope that I kinda prefer, hence I am quite tempted now. |

QUOTE(madmoz @ Mar 2 2016, 12:04 PM) Hahah I feel like I'm back at uni, trying to limit my food spendings to SGD15/day. No need limit la. Sgd30/day sgd800/mth will make u happierCost of living is quite low indeed here and it seems that it is entirely possible to save at least half of my pay per month As for actual work, I do love the faster and more mature environment here. Win win I'd say, but I kinda miss the missus. Only seeing her every fortnight is a big change. |

QUOTE(madmoz @ Mar 20 2016, 09:44 PM) Been here for almost one and a half months. Life is good indeed and things are cheap, except for my studio apartment rental and possibly the utilities. Bills for that haven't arrived yet. I always choose to fly. I prefer the experience over bussing x 10. Its just part of cos of living. Got paid half a month's salary last time round and it isn't even half finished after paying rent! Managed to get an UHD TV and a PS4 to keep me entertained at nights lol. Missing the family a bit, but I suppose one cannot have everything. Payday is next week hehe. At this rate sending $$ home is gonna be easy. Flying home is a pain though, leave opis at 5 on Friday, and when sampai rumah also close to 11 no thanks to KLIA being super far from KL and my place not being anywhere near train stations. I suspect taking a bus might be cheaper and take just about as long. Mana and how to take a bus back to KL ar, sifus here? How much does it cost to own a car? Or can I transfer my Malaysia car into SG ar? I've got a parking spot so if it isn't too expensive having a car to drive back up and down again on the weekends might be viable. PS. Work is sadly, rather heavier than in KL. I miss my old team. really. Try to take firefly on friday afternoons. |

Otherwise if you are also-ran sandwich class HDB dweller than chance is practically zero. Aiya dont so bad leh. I'm sure kaneshi can get it QUOTE(knwong @ Mar 22 2016, 09:08 PM) I'm not a PR, and still choose not to become one, but I thought one need 6 months payslip to apply? why not? SG Gomen good what. CPF lets u buy house somemore.Advice from a Caucasian friend who applied before - higher chances when you have contributed income tax. |

QUOTE(Dendroid_King @ May 4 2016, 07:27 PM) Hi, Suspected money laundering loooooI have a personal banking problem whereby UOB bank will terminate my account. The only reason given is that they reviewed the business and banking relationship and claimed they can't keep my account. I do not have any overdraft facility nor do I have any credit cards. So it's not possible for me to be owing to the bank. My balance is low at times below the required saving amount but that would be a weird reason to terminate my account. Can anyone share what could be the case? I tried calling their customer service and the banks. But no reply yet. I am wondering what is going on. Thanks for any help. |

Is this true? or they are trying to low ball me? Singaporeans' and their superiority complex. If you want take lor, if you not despo then find something else.On the side notes, do you guys think jobstreet is good for hunting entry level job? I have sent over 500 applications and only got 1 interview so far. I came from accounting and finance background. Any other site recommendation? Thanks first. |

QUOTE(kyone @ May 10 2016, 11:35 AM) Most ppl by the time they get to that age will have greener pastures to go to. Besides, it seems to me most malaysians here think negatively of msia's future so retirement in malaysia is something people say but will never actually do. (My speculation and what i gather from my circle of friends). Also over time you wouldve become indoctrinated by singapores culture and mentality, so would not have faith in malaysias medical system to have the kind of peace of mind necessary for retirement. So please do convert. Taking singapore citizenship allows u all the benefits of this first world nation, and to thosr hoping to go further, a valuable stepping stone. And more medical support via medicare. And a government protected pension/redistribution scheme. Maybe ull get the silver age benefits too. |
