Peeps,

I haven't received my work permit card yet, takes a few days right? Went for the thumbprint thing yesterday.

Can I apply for a mobile phone and my internet connection yet? Using the maxis roaming deal is both expensive and limited.

What docs does Singtel need during application?

you don't need permits to buy a simcard, just your passport only

Thanks for that.
2.5 hours in total. I guess if start work at 8.30am then will be worse traffic? And have to suffer the jam with vehicles exhaust fumes compare to those crossing in cars with aircon.
Tough life.

I've been commute jb - sg via motorbike for a year, and i'm working at jurong island, start work at 8am..
Usually morning reach the Woodlands checkpoint around 5.20am, and would clear from checkpoint around 5.45am, then will be reaching jurong island around 6.10am.. i then take a nap at office..
Tried going out late around 6am reaching the checkpoint, result is reaching office 5 minutes before 8am.

Finished work at 7pm, would reach Woodlands checkpoint around 7.30pm, end up spend around 1 hour 30 minutes to clear the checkpoint normally, and sometimes reach 2 hour.
Now i always use Tuas checkpoint for going back to jb, as normally would stuck at Tuas around 30 - 45 minutes, but would taking a long way to reach my home for using 2nd link highway. But i think i prefer longer way than stuck in a traffic jam. mega_shok.gif

ya, actually i do have a colleague crossing everyday by KTM. Can get more info from him.
Also some do car pooling, share taxi service to cross, etc.
Regardless i am educated white collar worker, i think some ppl will just do their calculations and will make their decision whether to cross everyday or just spend a bit more to stay in singapore to have more life.
Some ppl might have the question as me and i hope i did a favor for them by asking this.
Not that i am going to move to jb soon, but in near future maybe i will consider. Just wanted to know the options.
Thanks for the very useful info. Salute to you and those who travel everyday just to earn a living to support family.
For me, I guess i would opt for longer way too.. than stuck in traffic, inhaling those vehicles exhaust fumes.
Bikers are meant ride.
And seems like your working hour is longer?

Yes, my working hours a bit longer, i'm working in a processing plant office here
