She does. But still so little breathing space financially speaking after all the commitments (housing loan included). Having a children is not even an option for now.

Got to find more source of income definitely.
*
So do you have children? And how much is your mortgage commitment? Sorry to be asking those questions. A bit curious cause I've just gotten married

You get one month bonus during CNY upon confirmation as permanent staff. But i get another half month by cash, given by HR(not sure whether consider bonus or not, cos they pass me an angpau saying that it was an initiate that company took to appreciate your effort and contribution). Typical Chinaman company, you cant expect much... vmad.gif  vmad.gif

Company : Bank

Employment Level : Senior Exec
Experience before joining : 0
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Major in Finance
salary : RM3500

Is this the current industry average pay for banks? (Fresh grad)
*
that should be quite in line (with you being there for 5 months and fresh grad), since now banks are looking to manage its cost. But on a side note, how come did you get employed as a senior exec as a fresh grads? And if we are talking from the senior exec point of view, you are quite underpaid. Nevertheless, I think it's just the title, which in reality you are working there as just an exec.

Or probably they just removed (fired) an exec senior, but hired you (cheaper) to replace it.

I think not it's pretty common practice everywhere, unless you're in the government.

I am 29 this year, had 6 years of working experience. Does 11k sound reasonable? Or should I be asking for 12k?

11k sounds really good. Having said that, if you feel you are worth the 12k, should really give it a shot.

Boss, how much u think fresh graduate should be pay ?
Serious

1.5k ?
*
The question was about finding out whether RM3k as a fresh grad is overpaid. And answer is no. But of course we are not concluding that fresh grad should be paid RM1.5k.

RM3k is fair enough. You want more, work your way up, either sapu kuat, jumping ship, basically do whatever you feel like doing to get you better pay. But simply want more than RM3k, so that you feel as an average income earner, even though you're just graduated, zero experience, is not an average case. Unless you get connections, or did EXTREMELYY well in the interview.

So shove the RM3k up your bubu crack and stop complaining.

actuarial partners might give you a slightly higher starting salary VS other proper insurance companies, but annual increment-wise, the latter could be better in the longer run

having passed 5 papers upon graduation is definitely above the average candidate
*
What about jumping from Investment (3 years experience) to Actuarial? Degree and Masters in Actuary with 8 papers under IOA.

Thanks!

Been in this company for a little too long I think, thinking of moving soon. I'm aiming for 20k, feels like I'm being a bit underpaid in my current company. But it's hard to tell what's the benchmark is really...

Hi. May I know how old are you? And how did you make it to RM16k bracket? Was it through promotion or actuarial paper-based increments? And you mentioned underpaid. How much do you think the fair salary would be?

Both promotions and paper increments. I'm close to 30. I'll be looking for 20-25k if I move. In fact i did get an offer of 23k but the job is quite radically different from a traditional actuary role, so I'm still thinking about it.
*
And this is your first job? How many papers do you have now? And how is the paper increments are like? Are you doing life? What area? Pricing, valuations, reserving? Btw,well done sir. rclxms.gif

That guy talking cock....
Appointed actuary do earn a lot, in fact, they could earn as close as a CEO.
But the earliest I heard of reach more than 15k also need more than 15 years of experience and a fellow actuary title.
Without a fellow actuary..... BNM don't allow you to sign off the rates ....without that, you are just a person doing pricing... there are tons of pricing actuary in both general and life insurance... they are not paid any higher than any other average salaryman
*
this makes sense too. what would be the average salary for an actuary with 5 years experience with considerable amount of papers? (partly-qualified ones)
