Got an offer from Singapore in the same industry and scope. They are offering 5k SGD. I understand that the pay won't be 1:1 but this looks like a huge cut (roughly 0.6:1). Am I getting ripped off here? Is it a decent deal? Quick summary: 5 years experience in IT Networking. Multiple CCNP certified (not that this really matters lol).

I have no issues with expenditure/savings as I don't use a lot nor have lots of commitments.

Can you share more on the miserable part? I presume you used to work in Singapore?

No malaysian will ever think of getting a car unless on expat packages / >10k SGD. Because? Common sense and I can rent wherever i want. In msia your car is a necessity for work. My VP is making ~20k SGD and he takes the bus to work. In fact, the sense of fulfilment taking bus to work here is greater than driving a fking car in a jam. Personally I take only a 10 minutes bus to work. My previous CPY the office building was directly across 1 street away.

Assuming RM 9k, save RM 3k a month, that makes it 1k SGD. Plus a decent condo room/studio cost 1.5kSGD

Balance RM6k (If include car, higher income tax rate, etc even lesser) vs SGD2.5k. With SGD2.5k in SG, I am very safe to say the spending power is equivalent to ~RM6-7k in msia, with decent nights out drinking & smoking & travel all around.
Every goods is cheaper in SG for the currency u earn (Except car + housing). Iphone 7 ~1ksgd vs rm3k+, Polo tee RM100 vs SGD30, Topshop pants RM250 vs SGD80, rubbish snacks RM3 vs 1.5SGD, Bottled water RM3 vs SGD1
Anyway RM9k is alot too. Considering you dont get CPF here as an EP, he could try nego for extra 10% to make it up

3 years ago it was 2.5+ to 1.0. Now it is 3 to 1.

Secondly, inflation picked up too rapidly in Msia with shitty economic climate blundering in compared to SG. I dont remember a bloody milo ice costed me Rm2.5 and it pisses me off to see things rised up so fast in bolehland.

If 10 years ago, its acceptable to say RM9k > 5k SGD. Now, its more less comparable. The only trouble is if he accepts 5ksgd and work for some time, when go back msia need strong bargaining power to jump well well above 9k RM

Construction. Previous job was underpaid. Hence the increment % is quite high.

Hi guys, i am struggling between two options now.

I am drawing 8.5k MYR per month, work life balance, good boss, and friendly colleagues. (Got time to develop my apps and web-site, intent to start my own co. if there is a chance)

But recently, i got a SG job offering me 5.5k SGD,  By the look of the director and the speed they process my job application. I think it will be a BIG NO work life balance + heavy workload.

I know the final decision is always lied on my hand but i would like to hear some opinions from the forumers here. Thank you.

Got a friend from my uni, hes a bachelor in supply chain, havent even graduated and Texas Instrument offers him 3.6k to work there right after graduation and he has no experience other than that 2 months intern at DHL. He has a 3.7cgpa btw

And he said his friend in the same course (either supply chain or logistics) Shell offered his friend 4.5k, fresh grad.

the hell, I asked a few forummers here last time (logistics industry as well), their fresh grad salary was 1.8k-2.2k only. Those salaries from my friend are like two folds man

I guess quite common nowadays as most of my fresh grad fren getting 6-8k. easily 10k after few years experience. mostly technical job scope like engineer or IT
