Location?

If it's in KL, that's a pretty lousy pay.

Some freshies can already command 3.5k as programmer.

62.5% to be exact haha. taking around 4k+ currently
hopefully this is the wise decision for me as to learn newer thing
*
in that case, it would be stupid not to take it.

unless you've noticed some red flags while interviewing in that company.

Job Title : Uber Partner
Job Description : Not really a partner, but simply a Driver Lor
Years spent in company : -
Company : Uber
Industry : Ridesharing
Working time: Average of 12 hours daily with rest in between, 1 day off
Employment Level : UberX driver

That's depressingly low given the hours worked.

What happened to the industry? i've heard stories of grab/uber drivers earning a solid 7-8k per month not too long ago.

You're a fresh graduate who just recently work for 5 months but already being paid RM4200 ?!

You lucky bastard.
*
Seems to be increasingly common nowadays. Especially since the recent spike in cost of living.

I have quite a few fresh grad friends earning around this range. Also IT field, of course.

Believe it or not my friend got offered 4.5k before he even graduates. His experience? 3 months as an intern in a MNC firm
The he told me an O&G firm offered his friend 8k as a fresh grad, bachelor holder somemore and no prior relevant experience... Wonder if hes bullshitting lol
*
8k seems a bit too far fetched.

The highest i've heard of is 6k for fresh grads. Even then, my BS-o-meter was on red alert when i heard that.

Highest verifiable fresh grad salary that i know of currently is in the 4-5k range.

What is the right percentage of salary increment that would make us jump the ship ??
*
If you're confident with your market value. It shouldn't even be percentage based.

Just let your future employer name the first number and negotiate from there.

And if it turns out to be something you don't want, you can always say no.

kena lowball gao2 bro, 5yrs exp easily 10k in kl
*
that seems to be over the top though.

one needs to have a starting salary of at least 4.1k, and have an average annual increment of no less than 20% to achieve 10k in 5 years.

most fresh grads don't even make that starting salary back 5 years ago.

EDIT:
and yeah, i'm one of those that got lowball gao gao cry.gif

that's why i'm gonna say bye bye to Malaysia for the moment. Companies here are too stingy. Push me to work past midnight but still don't want to pay me what i'm worth.

It's not about starting, I start with 2.5k, then one and a half yr later ppl offer me 6k
*
You were lucky that they didn't offer based on your last drawn salary.

i've never once interviewed for a company that doesn't base their offer on my last drawn salary.

Which is why i'm doomed with low pay unless i can find that unicorn company that offer based on merit rather than based what my previous employer think i'm worth.

and when i try to blank out my salary details, or refuse to budge in to their request, they will dismiss me under the guise of "attitude problem".

Hence, i'm now contributing to the brain drain problem, gonna leave this country for greener pastures.

Underpaid.

Better find another co that can either give you better hours or better pay (or both).

Hi all, wanna ask how to you answer when employer asking you to provide the minimum salary to go since you already stated the expected salary on the job application form? Means we need to give discount for them?
*
They just want to know if there's room to lowball you.

Just give them the minimum as the same amount as your expected.
