Woman dies after boyfriend allegedly pushes her off cliff
KUALA LUMPUR: A 35-year-old man is alleged to have pushed his girlfriend off a cliff and to her death while they were on a late night date at the Bukit Permai lookout point.
The incident along the darkly-lit road stretch was, however, seen by a vendor who called the police.
The suspect is now in custody and is being investigated for murder.
A police source said the suspect and his 28-year-old girlfriend were out together along Jalan Bukit Permai 1A at about 12.45am Friday when an argument allegedly broke out between the couple.
The source said the vendor witnessed the suspect allegedly pushing his girlfriend off the edge of the cliff, falling 50m into a ravine below.
The witness later called authorities for help.
Pandan Indah Fire and Rescue Department officials arrived at the scene at about 1am and pulled the victim out of the ravine.
She was declared dead at the scene. Her boyfriend was arrested by police shortly after.
Her body was taken to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for a post-mortem.
It was found that she died of injuries to the head sustained from the fall.
The case has been classified as murder. The motive of the incident has yet to be established.
At the mortuary, the victim's father said his daughter had lived on her own and had moved out after finishing secondary school.
“We didn’t know her condition well because we did not contact each other much. I didn’t even know she was having problems with her love life.
“I only knew she was dead when the police called,” he said.
The victim was the third child out of four siblings.
