SQM on OpenWRT is able to fix that. It is much more effective than conventional QoS.
*
I absolutely agree. But I was just suggesting a general fix, since standard QoS is pretty much available on any router on stock firmware now a days.

Never know about this until reading this post.

Done a research and got this very disturbing statement:-
"Asymmetrical connections also have the disadvantage of being contended, meaning that your Internet performance is directly linked to the usage levels within your local area."

Yeak! Sounds like if your area many people doing downloading 24/7, then your internet performance will suffer.

Is this a case of siapa cepat dia dapat?

Is this the reason some people having the same issue, some solved, some unsolved? Some slow, some fast? If this is the case, I do not think it is acceptable!

Your advance 30/50 internet performance depend on other unifi users usage, sucks!
*
Was that quote from an article written in mid 2000s or something? While it's true that Symmetrical > Asymmetrical all the time, the truth is that speed for a user isn't capped to an area. If TM wants to cap it, they cap it, not because everyone DLing 24/7 in a given area.

No case of siapa cepat dia dapat.

QUOTE(ad2000 @ Jan 6 2016, 11:55 AM)
I'm wondering, lately many users with advan 30 (including me) randomly suffered dropped download speed. Speed dropped to between 3Mb-5Mb while upload speed remain unchanged....could it be Tmnet is testing implementing FUP and quota limits?  hmm.gif

When I complained to 100, they have no idea what;s going on and even the norm S.O.P including resetting the ports didnt solved the problem either.

Then the technician came over to my house checked my BTU with their laptop  and then call their counterpart at  TM. I overheard the technician mentioned the word "testing" , "quota" and "capped".

After that he told me he had requested the tech dept to uncapped my connection from 5Mb to normal.

When I asked him "So meaning that my dropped speed was not due to  any faulty equipments or ports but your side capped it at 5Mb instead of 30Mb...?'

He was evasive and then just say said the tech side probably made mistake

Its a wild hunch..could it be quota limits and FUP will be implemented? hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
Well... they do have in their fine print in regards to FUP being implemented. You have technically agreed to it by using their service. "Unlimited" only means that there's no quota. The bottom line is that TM isn't restricting your usage to the internet, they're just slowing you down because they can.

This is why despite the throat gouging price, going for the BIZ plan is better. No headaches, no FUP bs. Any slowdown, call direct to their business SME line and they will fix it within 15 minutes (as long as it's on their side, i.e not hardware prob).

Where did you heard that/find that out?  hmm.gif

About what? FUP?
Well;

1) It's damn obvious TM does throttling, it's not even a secret anymore. It's pretty much an unofficial fact.
2) It's written there in their T&C, FAQ(s) and their very own workers say so.

Hi,

I've upgraded to 50Mbps and wondering is ipv6 supported or implemented in Malaysia? Where can I check whether my area have ipv6?
*
IPv6 has been supported since 2013. Nothing to do with area, just set it up and that's it.

You cannot request la. Officially it is just 10Mbps upload speed, so just wait for your turn, patiently. smile.gif
*
Requested liao. Called directly to their Biz SME line, they say just restart BTU in an hour. Will process for me.

My complain was: "My home BIZ line has 50/20, but my office BIZ line still stuck at 50/10. Please fix asap".

Honestly, both are still 50/10. tongue.gif
Will restart BTU in a bit.

Upgrade done, office side. 50/20 now. Will check at home later tonight.

Can use this tactic eh? brows.gif

Can. Sometimes, you just gotta act dumb with them. Be ignorant, then they also blur why 2 lines in the same area has different speeds. laugh.gif

Did they verify your other line like its account number etc? Will we be able to bluff by simply saying we have another line when actually we don't? laugh.gif
*
They only asked for my office line acc no.
Since both my home and office line are registered under the same name, I guess they already have my other account's details.

I think on their system, as far as they are concerned, everything is still 50/10 or 30/5 to them. They just need to raise the cap. Probably wrong on this though.

hmmm.. what are the chances of getting 50/20 if i decide to upgrade from VIP20 ? unsure.gif
*
Pretty much 50-50 at this point. I believe it's just a matter of time before TM makes it official. They did say that they will adjust upload speeds accordingly before they launched this ADV plan.

That said, understand that ADV plans are still asynchronous connections. Everyone under this plan is still subject to buffer bloat, so at the very least make sure to configure your QoS properly.

so for now.. you guys are calling up CS to get the upload speed upgraded ?

and ADV packages aren't Synchronous as VIP packages ?
*
For me, I called as a "complaint". But most here got it automatically a few days ago just by restarting their router/BTU.

Anyone facing issue here when download torrent Unifi will throttle down the download speed?
*
Uh... You are trying to download torrent while also downloading direct? Obviously one of the other will throttle, I don't see the issue here.

i use my own ac68U for 30mbps. any reason i need new btu ? or no difference  hmm.gif

Absolutely zero difference, speed wise. In fact I'd rather steer clear of the newer BTUs for reliability sake as the components in them are actually cheaper made than the original Alcatel BTUs.

Technically 100mbps has been there for BIZ users for a very long time already. Insanely expensive of course.

100/50 down and up please. Bring it on TM, those speeds aren't a luxury anymore.
