*Zero to minimal overclocking on CPU, mebbe max OC on GPU*

would the CM RealPower 450w (ACLX) be enough to power up the rig? i know getting higher is better..but i just need an answer regaring the CM 450w.

according to sites its recommended a minumum 400w for the 8800gts which is why im wondering about the CM450w

if not, then looks like the Silverstone OP650 will be finding its way to my house

higher power PSUs DO NOT cause an increase of the electric bill... its the power consumption of all ur other hardwares that adds to it...so changing from a 300w PSU (or anything around there) to a 560w PSU will NOT add to the electricity bill.

Strider 560W has very good reviews from what ive read...

as for cable management...nuttin to do with the PSU... its the person whos doing ur cable management.

same goes for modular PSUs. personally i dont like modular PSUs for cable management... all the cables coming out from all over the place..normal PSUs will have all the cables come out from ONE point of the PSU.

ur kidding right? 0db would be pure fanless PSU already.... and most fanless PSUs arent cheap. zalman if im not mistaken has one.

imho i think it should be fine if ur running single 8800gts.

i was recommended the CM EXTREME POWER PLUS 550W but was just wondering if the acbel 510w or even the CM extreme power plus 500w is capable of handling it

ok....need quick answer...

i know ive asked abt the specs above and the CM Extreme Power Plus 550w is recommended...but due to an unfortunate "reserved" sticker falling off, the PSU has been sold off accidentally and they dont have stock...might not even be able to restock in time.


but i was offered Xigmatek 500w (for slightly more $$) as a replacement. this PSU enough for the specs above?

between the 2 which is better?

thanks...no choice but to go for the xiggy coz of the previously mentioned "falling off incident". actually would prefer the CM ExP. 550w sounds so much better

as for price, got a very good special offer on it. only a wee bit more than the CM ExP 550w as a replacement for the incident.

cant go for the SST or the FSP as those are more expensive and will definitely kaboom da budget

had the same issue last time with my 8800GTS 320mb with CM Real Power 450w.

then i upgraded my entire rig and included a 750W Silverstone OP750 and no issue after that.


so my guess is yes...lack of power.



my response in quote.... and another thing, 750w should also be enough. im pretty sure a GTX260 consumes lesser power than the power hungry G80 8800GTS. and i had that in SLI with a 750W

how sure are u its not the GC?

GCs tend to produce quite abit of noise especially on load when the fan spins up to a higher speed...


i suggest u unplug 1 fan at a time to isolate the source of the noise...

if it steadily increases during heavy task and in ur case, gaming, its most likely ur GCs fan...

try using other softwares like everest or GPU-Z or rivatuner to monitor ur GC fan speed

no budget???
