i've questions on some PSU.dis afternoon i went to allIT at ss14.i quite interested in a 600Watt Cooler Master Extreme which cost around 260-280+ if i'm not mistaken.den i saw Acbel 450 Watt also same price like dat.den i quite confused wif the label.

in acbel 450Watt its stated efficiency 80%+-
in cooler master Extreme 600Watt is stated efficiency 70%
in cooler master Real Power 450 watt is stated efficiency 75%+-

wat the sense tht efficiency means?
example: Acbel 450Watt minimum power output is 80% X 450W =360Watt ????
or Cooler Master Extreme 600Watt minimum power output is 70% X 600W=420Watt???

guys, so tell me wats the meaning of it and which one u all recommend based on the price.i dun wanna get smtg above 300 bucks which enermax is charging.

I'm also wondering, ST400 is newer than ST405 right?
*
its quite easy the difference. ST405 doesn't hv PCI-E plug.ST400 has PCI-E plug.or vice versa.someone pls confirm wif me.

Guys, I need a PSU that can handle a HD2900XT. (no nVidia this time until they fix their drivers, the free games make me drool, and I need to dry my school shoes using the outlet air  laugh.gif )

Coupled with specs like a X2 3800+ Brisbane (mild OC), 1/2GBs of DDR2, 2 HDDs and a Combo writer, an nForce 5 mobo, and 2 slower fans.

Can the Extreme Power 550W/600W handle it? I'm on a VERY tight budget here.

(I saw from another forum that an E6600 overclocked and a HD2900XT overclocked with 1 HDD and motherboard needs 400W. Would mine be moderately lower IF I run the 2900XT at stock [I might OC it if my shoes don't dry fast enough] and OC the 3800+ slightly?)
At this point I don't think I can afford the Stryder 560W, the 400F I'm also interested in. It does 29A on +12V (enough on 2900?) and combined load (348W) is nice, but I still fear that headroom is wayy too little. The Extreme Power 600W is actual 500W Real power and that has headroom, but is more expansive.
And there's another solution- get the Thermaltake 200W Graphics PSU + my cap ayam or smaller wattage real power PSU.
200W on the Thermaltake, 350W on my mains. Is this better?
*
can u afford acbel 500W PSU?its 300 bucks or less at prestigeIT at lowyat.i'm not trying to promote anything though.but i recommend u FSP Epsilon 600W if u hv a 2900XT.tht GC is the highest power consumption GC at the moment i guess.dun buy any of the CoolerMaster ExtremePower series.its a total scam i heard.they fix a 500W pSU into their 600W extremePower series according to a forumer here.

if u need 400W according to tht calc,dun buy exactly at 400W.ur PSU wont output 100%.its around 70-80% only most of the time.and dun forget,ur PSU will get older and their capacitors will get less efficient also.

Elipsons are way over my budget. =(
The aim is just to get my initial budget on parents cheaper while making it still usable, while I get another PSU myself.

Any comments on the Thermaltake solution? 250W @RM185 + A cheaper PSU (FSP Saga?) at 350/400W that I can get myself later.
*
if u feel tht Epsilons are too expensive, go for FSP SAGA 400W den. consider 430W Extreme Power CoolerMaster also.

hey, which power supply can produce 0db sound level..until u can't hear any sound?.. looking for this type of power supply.(450W and below.. cheap2 price).
*
wow.u wan 0 db actually u need to pair everything fanless only get effect.ur proc fan makes noise,ur northbridge fan makes noise, ur GC fan makes noise, ur case fan makes noise.even ur DVD writer makes noise when its spinning.so wats the point wan fanless UNLESS u make those component tht i mentioned all run without fans except tht DVD writer.

*
i dunno anything abt huntkey.but i can tell u smtg abt gigabyte superb. u see rite,my fren bought 1 of them.550 watts gigabyte superb. in the end, if u read the label, u'll understand tht its actually a 450Watt true power PSU.kind of cheating.

U mean those Xigmatek falls under <RM299 price range?
*
i just bought xigmatek nrp-pc602 from rockrock yesterday.non-modular true power 600w PSU. i paid RM280 for it.

2 rails 12V PSU
12V1 =30A
12V2 =22A
max combined wattaged at 12V rail =504W (42A) <--its stated on the box and the PSU itself as well as on the website.

Fan =14cm

80plus bronze certified.

first day of cny, my silverstone strider st56f 560W burnt. thts y i need replacement.

comparing the silverstone and xigmatek, the cables for silverstone is abit longer (but my casing is only centurion 5, so anything will do).

comparing the connectors. xigmatek has 2XPCI-E 8 pin + 2x PCI-E 6 pin while my old silverstone only PCI-E 6 pin X2.
Even the ATX connector is different. Silverstone is 24 pin while Xigmatek is 20+4 pin (means its broken into 2 sort of).

Whether dis PSU silent or not, i don't know, coz i've 2x12cm 2500rpm fans inside my casing spinning at full speed. You can imagine the noise laugh.gif

Did you check your motherboard for signs of badcaps?  hmm.gif

Try GigaByte Superb "720W", around RM270 (at Prestige IT). This PSU actual continuous power is around 610W and is 80plus certified.  flex.gif

Is that the old CoolerMaster Extreme (without the "Plus")?  unsure.gif

Anyway, I'm using a AcBel E2 Power 470W for my Pentium D machine (see the CPU-Z tag in my siggy  brows.gif ). This is exactly the same unit as CoolerMaster Extreme Power Plus 460W (ie. AcBel is one of many OEMs for CoolerMaster PSUs). icon_idea.gif

Those 8-pin connectors could be for the new 8-pin ATX12V power for the processor. Some of the new motherboards uses 8-pin instead of 4-pin for processor ATX12V power connector.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Lex, i'm very sure that the 2 PCI-E 8pin and 2 PCI-E 6 pin are for PCI-E graphic cards, as there is another 8 pin 12V EPS connector to the motherboard to feed the processor. So xigmatek nrp-pc602 has actually 4X PCI-E connectors.

How do we know whether the PSU is single rail or double ?
*
For a rough estimation, look at the sticker at the PSU. It should have something like
+12V1 +12V2
20A 22A

If you see something like this means 2 rails. if you see till +12V4 means quad rail.
