Please get Antivirus(AV) and AntiSpyware/Adware...(AS) RIGHT!

Norton Antivirus -> AV
Ad-Aware -> AS

Norton Internet Security = AV + AS + Privacy Control etc...

Norton Antivirus and Ad-Aware SHOULD NOT have any conflicts. Cheers!

If both of it is AV...

Note: You must only use 1 (one) AV at a time because if you have 2 or more AVs running at the same time, they will conflict with each other and make your security less reliable.

If it's AV and AS...

It's ok.

The same rule goes with firewall as well, FYI.

This is OK. Conflicts SHOULD NOT happen for this case. But then again, Kaspersky Scanning Engine is FAR superior than AVG. Why stick to AVG? Just my opinion. Cheers!

yeah, just use one. One is more than enough. No matter how you schedule it to run it'll face conflicts sooner or later.

FYI, NAV was included as part of NIS.. Thus, u're recommended to choose either NIS or Avast in order to prevent conflicts and substantial cpu/ram consuming

One antivirus is enough. but have to make sure you have to keep its database updated. i mean the virus definition. else even you got 2 or 3 AV programs, it doesnt make any sense.
its very good if you install Av+ Ad-aware or whatever antispy since lots of spy AV cannot detect since structure of virus and spy/trojan/adware diferent.

A classic example I just saw it yesterday on my friends laptop.
Inside contains NAV and NOD32.
Guess what, NOD32 detects NAV as virus when NAV tries to remove brontok in that PC doh.gif doh.gif

The whole pc lags and nothing much he can do about it. The only thing I can help him is to remove NAV and let NOD32 do the job.

At the end of the day everything was solved when NAV was removed doh.gif

Moral of the story - Don't install 2 Antivirus on the SAME PC.

Its not the matter of how good your antivirus is...
User awareness must be good too..

Dont simply click things u dont know...
Eg.. i didnt have anything on my office pc nor my home pc...
Works fine...

Guys i have a question

I just downloaded Ad-Aware SE

After doing the full scan it detected 129 items

When the scan is done

Does it delete for you or do you have to delete it yourself

im just kind of wondering why is it in the quarantine list

question is not related to theard..but..its ok... "/, next time post to the right thread...

anway...

After you finish the full scan, adaware se will ask you to remove the detected items, it will list out the items and when you click remove/delete, ad-aware will automatically removes those detected items for you.

why it's still in quarantine list? It's for backup purposes, in-case you deleted some files that is required by some programs [mainly shareware]

lol..you just like opening "big door" to your computer...nowadays viruses/worms are not the same as last time..thought you might thinking you're downloading "trusted" files, some viruses/worms might disguise them self as "trusted" files as well.
