Thanks for your input! My dad's intending to get a C350e demo unit with 5k mileage soon and your feedback is very helpful.
I think the real gripe is really only the resale value in the future as I'm sure it'll be harder to let go of a C350e compared to say a C200/C250.
I understand that the range for full-electric mode is approx 25-30km but I don't think it's intended for long-term usage.. right? I don't think it's worth it having to go through the trouble to charge it everyday just to travel 20km+. It might be fun and interesting to use at first but long-term you'll prolly use the battery just to complement the petrol engine and improve on FC.
Been wondering one thing tho, are the rear seats foldable? With the battery taking up sace in the boot and all that I wonder if the seats are still foldable
Hi, well, frankly don't hope too much on the wonder of the battery, in fact, I'm pretty sure it will be a major complain from u too, just like I do, isn't it ironic? The battery will give you some desired results on your fc for short haul, mainly city drive. e.g. if you drive from Puchong to KLCC, the battery will be at the bottom. What the system do is it will use more petrol from that point onwards (when battery lower than 15%), so, if you are using this car for outstation mostly, I don't think the fc will be good (you should go for diesel in that case). I will try that out soon to find out. If your daily driving activities is within the range of 30kms, it will be 100% perfect for you. My two cents is don't buy this car becoz of the plug in hyrbid, consider this tech only if you want to be a little more experimental and you are mad that the government suka-suka increase the petrol price lol.
I do think this is the most powerful C Class, compare it to C250/C200, the C350e can do nothing less but packed with more. Literally, i bought it together with E200, this C350e performs just as nice as a E200 (but you gotta turn on sport to match that). I complained the performance becoz my previous car was BMW, e.g. BMW is just too good in cornering and I felt more engaged (I think I will go back to BMW on my next car). Why don't you try the BMW 330e? I tried that, I don't like it becoz of the dated design and the cabin looks cheap to me (well it is almost 40k cheaper than 350e).
Oh yes, you can fold the rear seat. You'll have plenty of storage, don't worry about it. The charging time is fast, 2hrs will get you 100% charged. I also see more places gonna provide free charging station, that will give us more reason to drive a plug in hybrid car in city, in future, lol. I also feel that we should be less worry on the battery as you can see there are many hybrid cars on the road, I read through many hybrid car forums when i was doing my research and really, there isn't that much failure as people think. Most importantly there's long warranty on that.
As conclusion, how bad can a Merce goes wrong? I had petrol car, diesel car and now a hybrid plug in. My real life experience will tell you diesel is the most reliable. Haha
