Cousin will be using for gaming? 950M performance not really suitable for gaming. Can only run latest games in low to mid tweaked settings at 1080P. GE62 cooling is quite okay, have dual fans. Speakers and screen is very good as well. Both customer service and warranty services suck, but MSI has the less suckier one...

Dell and Lenovo have just come out with some very interesting gaming laptops. Sorry I've got to run but check out the other threads discussing it. Cheers.

I've spent the last few weeks checking out Asus and MSI and to be honest even Dell and Lenovo seem to be giving good (or better?) value, assuming the Dell and Lenovo service is up-to-standard. MSI of course would be high quality and fun, but a bit on the pricier side for the Nvidia 960M 4GB?

OK goodnight all.

Hey TS,

The MSI GE62 probably gives more value for money because it is using newer CPU
i7 5700HQ > i7-4720HQ

Both are using the same GPU but by comparison, MSI has more gaming features like Cooler Boost 3, SteelSeries KB and Nahimic Sound.

best to also check on how is the cooling on Asus as MSI got 2 fans and doesn't share as many heat pipes between CPU and GPU.

MSI GE62:

The good..

- Better GPU and CPU (mostly the GPU cause its a GDDR5)
- Better build quality (mostly covered in aluminium from the outside to the inside)
- Better sound quality (Dynaudio, u wont regret it)
- Visible keys without needing any backlighting
- Stays cool even after long hours of gameplay
- Nicer screen/colours (maybe cause of the 5th gen CPU?)
- Better network card? (more options to play with like channel selection, throughput booster etc)

The bad..

- Terrible battery life (2 and 1/2 hours tops on power saver mode)
- No VGA support if you often connect to a projector
- Noisy fans (even noisier when u manually boost them up)
- Integrated battery?
- More expensive
- Need to cover the laptop with something on your lap (gets warm below it, vents on the bottom)

ASUS GL552:

The good..

- Better battery life than the GE62 (about 3 hours+)
- Stays cool and quiet at the same time
- VGA support
- Removable battery?
- Cheaper price
- Lap friendly!

The bad..

- Decent screen quality for me (not a fan of the colours compared to the GE62)
- Hard to see the keys without the backlighting
- So so quality (mostly made of plastic and much easier to get scratches on it)
- Not so good sound quality
- Terrible clickpad (the gestures work fine though)

From personal experience, both laptops run pretty cool (never hits 80 degrees after hours of usage) though the surface does get a bit warm

The battery life is a concern thats for sure. Other than that, theres a sticker on the bottom of the laptop (blocking one screw) that will void your warranty it says. I was crazy enough to pull it off to add an extra RAM stick sweat.gif

Anyway, build quality is spot on but be sure to check everything and try to blow up the speakers before buying laugh.gif

And if you really do get the laptop, I personally think you should do this. Nahimic is at the taskbar or start screen/menu.

Bro, you forget to mention MSI's steelseries keyboard. The feel is much better than GL552!! biggrin.gif
