1. If I'm not mistaken, that only applies to Regional News and not the International News. I miss them pictures of Miss Brazil. (sadly, she's missing)
2. It worked for me too, I asked around for a Brazillian postal code. I ended up puting KL and it works.

i did browse through all the news sections ... and it seems not just the Regional news is influenced. in fact, i got 'no headlines' in technology section whereas there were some a few minutes before i changed countries setting. Since the ntsc-j system is meant for use in Japan only, I don't think they'll be an option to change the country setting. The us version of the console is meant for use in several different countries so that's why it has the country select option. Since you have a japanese system, you can only buy japanese games which will be in japanese as you can only connect to the servers in Japan.

Wii newbie here.
I purchased a modded US-version Wii with the d2ckey over the xmas period.
My question is: does the Brazil hack work on a modded Wii? did manage to get the weather channel going with no problems but the news channel doesn't seem work properly.

hmm, i tried it earlier and the Wii Shop channel won't start. asked me to update to the newer Wii shop.
should i? COULD i? current firmware is 3.0
Added on January 18, 2008, 9:59 amok nevermind,
read on another forum and people have upgraded their d2ckey modded Wii with the 3.1U firmware. i did mine yesterday to update Wii Shopping and bought the internet channel.
so here it is:
YOU CAN STILL UPGRADE A US Wii WITH THE D2CKEY MODCHIP TO THE 3.1U FIRMWARE.
