Hello everyone...i am having problem. I already accepted and signed an offer letter and will start working on 18th Dec. Just wanna ask..if i have a better offer from other company between these 2 weeks, how can i breach the offer letter? Can i just write them a letter? Btw, i only need 7 days notice to resign. What should i do?
Thanks for any advice!

I don't think the offer letter is binding, unless you signed the acceptance letter.

If u only need 7-days advance notice, why u need to bother to breach it?

Erm...i thought the offer letter is supposed to be binding? I already signed! And what is the difference between an offer letter and an acceptance letter?

Confusing. You mean;
1) you just need 7 days notice to resign from your current company. 2) you have signed the offer letter offered by another company but you want to breach it because you got a better offer the next two days
Am I correct? Well if you have signed the acceptance letter, I doubt you could do anything.

Here's the clearer view:
1)I am not working currently and am going to start work on the 18th Dec in company A
2)I already signed the offer letter..
3) I am still going for interviews (other company) because i applied that previously and i think its not good to turn down the interview.
So my question is... If these 2 weeks (before i start work on the 18th Dec), i get a better offer from company B and wish to breach the offer letter that i previously signed in Company A, can i do so?

QUOTE(racyong18 @ Nov 30 2006, 12:59 PM) Here's the clearer view: 1)I am not working currently and am going to start work on the 18th Dec in company A 2)I already signed the offer letter.. 3) I am still going for interviews (other company) because i applied that previously and i think its not good to turn down the interview. So my question is... If these 2 weeks (before i start work on the 18th Dec), i get a better offer from company B and wish to breach the offer letter that i previously signed in Company A, can i do so? It depends on the offer letter wordings. Did it say you MUST come otherwise you have to pay 1 or 2 mths salary or something like that? If no such wording in the offer letter, then just ignore it if you got better offer. This post has been edited by valenong: Nov 30 2006, 04:33 PM

Patience is a virtue
|
Do read the proper details of the letter you signed or it can be used in court against you. Any signatory document is considered a binding contract so be absolutely sure on what you are doing.

eeerrrr....this is my point of view...
ur situation is just like my mine....luckily i got thru...thank u god...
just my 2cent, if i in ur shoe, i will just formally write or inform the company A that u got a better offer. i think should not be a problem coz the company A fed up and lazy laio...normally if u just join and have not been confirm, u can give 24 hour notice...i got a fren who join a company wif me and left the company after 2weeks due to a better offer..
and lastly, dun simply sign any official letter without goin thoroughly.
dun flame me...wakaka

There should be no legal implications normally. The only problem is that your reputation may be somewhat tarred should word go around that you're not a person of integrity due to your breach of agreement. That's all.

basically, if you have not started with the company just call the person who interviewed you or the GM or HR manager, etc, and let them know that you have to decline as you have a better a offer. That's what I do, they will understand. Or you could pop by the office and let them know in person, of course you being there physically would look like you want to see if they can counter offer.
