I got myself a velocity RDA from tobeco. Heard so much good reviews about it. Maybe I'm just unlucky. The one that i got, the machining is bad, a lot of burs left on the holes and threads. One of the coil hole on the post still haven't drill finish. I have to poke it out myself. Not to mention the post senget a bit.

Let me make a wild guess...u bought it by mail order from some seller on facebook?

I bought from altsmo actually.
Well at least mine sit flush. Lol. I guess the burs are the things that annoyed me. I have to scrap it off myself. But yeah, it's a clone.

From altsmo? rclxub.gif I thought they were a reputable company. Thank you for sharing your experience. Think I'll just stick to buying attys from brick n mortar shops.

Sjdvda shared with us in post #1122:

I've been using the Velocity Tobeco Clone I got from CloudGear Vape Studio in SS15 for 2 months now. No problems whatsoever. I liked the Velocity so much I ordered a second one from FastTech and I can confirm their Velocity (1:1) clone is absolute garbage. One of the post holes is too big so I can't even tighten the grub screws. There's no 'locking' mechanism like the original and Tobeco clone so I have to always make sure the airflow holes are aligned. Would definitely not recommend the Velocity clone from FastTech to anyone.
I'll be going to get one soon. smile.gif

Guys, got my self into sub ohm build these 2 months. I guess I over budget my juice expenditure. Since I watched a few youtube guide to brew on juice I think I can do it. For those are doing it may i know where can I purchase these items? And how much?

Pg,
Vg,
Glass bottle
Nic base
Flavoring
And what's that for the cool minty sensation?

Thanks for those that willing to help. I really need to cut cost here.

Edit - just found out theflavourist has everything I want. Do they have Nic base?
*
Since u know where to buy the stuff, I won't get into that.

To get a cool sensation, you can use menthol/cooling agent + flavoring. Experiment with combos of them. For my own taste, cooling agent is sufficient. Be careful about what you use to get the mint flavor; avoid oils.

I don't use any sweeteners as the VG is sweet enough for my taste. Some filtered lime juice helps accentuate fruit flavors to make them "pop".

Be patient and let the stuff age ("steep") and breathe. Note the 3 leftmost bottles in the pic below and their differences in color (all follow the same recipe). The one one on the extreme left was from the batch mixed on 8th Oct (warm water steeping), 2nd one was on 15th Oct (unaided steeping), 3rd one was on 20th Oct (ultrasonic steeping). The 1st and 3rd are smooth and very tasty (but the 1st one is better). 2nd one will take more time before it's ready.

Hi Andy, really appreciate for this reply. Perhaps you want to share your source as well ? No harm knowing more alternative. Also is steam engine side a good calculated guide to follow? Really appreciate your replies.

PM sent.

I've never used steam engine. For my recipes, I use eJuice Me Up http://ejuice.breaktru.com/recipes.html (download link near bottom of page).

Hope you'll be enjoying yr own very economical ejuice soon...and much less gunk on coils/cotton biggrin.gif

Whatever container u use, better to label it clearly. I use masking tape for an ersatz label.

Once I had mixed a plain 60/40 juice into a clean hand-soap container (500ml) because I liked the pump dispenser. Left it on the kitchen sink when some friends came to visit, and they had brought some food. Next thing I heard from the kitchen was, "Aiyaah...how come your soap so funny one aaah?". One of them had washed his hands and face with my juice rclxub.gif

Am writing in to thank you for your recommendation of CloudGear. Got me a Tobeco Velocity smile.gif

For RM60, I have no complaints and am happy with it! It's a very affordable clone and one can't expect the quality of the original. As long as it works as it should, I am OK. The following are my observations.

Very minor -ves:
There were 3 small loose burrs, the finishing on the lip of the deck and inside the well is a bit wonky, threading has a few tiny rough spots (does not affect screwing) and one post is approx 0.2mm taller than the other.

The +ves:
The lack of machine oil surprised me (but I'm gonna wash it thoroughly anyways). External finish is good. Fit of the components are nice and snug, the grub screws hold firmly, it has the "locking"/positioning guide, and the AFC does what it's supposed to do.

Think I'll put Ti coils on it biggrin.gif

Didn't buy online. I went to CloudGear Vape Studio in SS15 and bought there. The price I paid for the Velocity was discounted from RM80 to RM60 because I bought a bunch of other stuff from them as well.

If your coils are going over themselves, lessen the pressure. Just keep it slightly gentle but firm, and let each new wrap push the coiling cylinder back.

Made my order yesterday for the Evic mini and tfv4, can't wait for it to arrive. Usually how long does one rba coil can last yea?
*
How long a coil lasts depends on the coil material, how good yr wicking is, what u vape, how often u vape, how hot u vape, and how often u dry burn. NOTE: do NOT dry-burn Ti coils...google why u shouldn't do so.

In my own experience, if I vape DIY juice, a coil made of kanthal can last up to 3-4 weeks, Ti and nichrome lasts up to 2-3 weeks. I just change when the flavor reaches a certain point...I can't describe it, but that flavor tells me that the coil is a gone case and it's not worth cleaning and rewicking any more. Sickly sweet local juices with colorants will gunk coils faster resulting in more cleaning/dry burns and hence a shorter lifespan.

BTW, don't forget to update yr Evic mini's firmware if it's not already on v1.20. It's my fav carry-around mod and works great. biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing mate. Looks like you do enjoy your evic mini, really can't wait to get my hands on them. What tank you're using on your evic mini? I have heard about the new firmware that bumps up the power to 75w. Isn't that nice? 👍
*
You're most welcome smile.gif I thoroughly enjoy the small size and ease of portability, and you heard right. We haz 75watts now, and I can almost see the LG HG2 batt level drop with every 2 tokes at that setting biggrin.gif BTW, you may wanna read up on the Evic mini having real step down (bucking) capability vs the IPV D2's faux step down emulation. I'm not too techy and don't know the implications of real step down vs emulating step down by firing shorter pulses though. As long as I get vapor the way I want it, I'm a happy puffer!

Below are some drippers used with that mod and my ever-faithful flavorful Zephyrus. Been only using the Velocity for a day...it can chuck some serious clouds and the AFC is excellent...but still my fav Snubnose dripper seems to produce better flavor (despite having tried various airflow settings on the Velocity; but I'll keep searching for sweet spots) . Kanthal on the zephy, and a mix of nichrome and Ti (spaced) coils on the rest. Nichrome has a faster ramp-up time than kanthal, but I may be migrating to more Ti coils because it produces a "cleaner" taste. Vape on bro!

Guys..

Any recommendation on dripper for beginner for me?

Was trying to get a good dripper and easy to build on the coil as well...

Currently using Goliath V2 and wanna try on dripper.

Thanks  smile.gif

It's been my experience that certain drippers seem to perform better with certain flavor ranges. How your tongue reacts to them is entirely a personal thing, so you'll have to experiment. Clone RDAs r cheep anyways. Some RDAs can chuck clouds better than others while others can give a very intense flavor. Coil type and placement, air flow, fluid dynamics, your style of vapor intake and taste buds all play a part in how the taste and feel of the vape is to you.

If you place importance on cloud-chucking and a very easy build, get a Velocity. It's the easiest build I ever did (see pic below). 3 post/4 hole decks are the 2nd easiest, and the 3 post/3 holes is the fiddliest of them all. There's also postless decks (I forgot the names), but I've yet to play with one.

Fair warning: if you want intense flavor, the Velocity may not be for you. I keep going back to my Snubnose RDA because the intense flavors it produces really suits me.

Is there any articles where I can read on the step down thing? Tried google it but seems like my keyword wasnt pinpoint enough.

By the way, is there differences between each RTA even both are using the same wire and rba head? Saw that you have 3 RDA there, wondering how much differences it make compare with RTA too and guess what, my unit just arrive. Both of our units are in tiffany blue. What a great looking device!  smile.gif

I see you've been given a very good link in post #2717! smile.gif Try searching for "evic mini step down forum" as keywords. I came across quite a few of those posts about the stepdown and several had rather detailed info on the workings of power supply modules, bucking and boosting etc, but as I'm not very tech-wise in electronics, I just gave them a cursory glance.

Drippers can produce flavors more intense than an RTA, and can also handle thicker juices which could choke an RTA. My latest "F&N orange" main flavor with slightly creamy undertones and strong menthol/cooling agent concoction is such an example...it's fit only for use in drippers. Dunno why but I like my juices to be thicker than normal, and yes I do prefer drippers but use RTAs only as a convenience while driving. Some flavor profiles which taste great on a dripper may have quite a different result in an RTA.

The great thing about vaping is that you can adjust, customize, mix and match to suit yr personal tastes and preferences. To me, the act of using a dripper can be quite relaxing. I don't really chase clouds (and yes I wasted money on the Velocity clone); flavor's more my speed.

Congrats on the arrival of yr evic mini! rclxms.gif Yes I do like that color. Makes for a refreshing change from the normal grey/black of mainstream mods. Had no idea it was called Tiffany blue biggrin.gif always thought of it as some shade of teal.
As a rule I never grab something that's very new on the market; prefer to wait till they iron out most if not all the bugs. And now with firmware v1.20, hopefully the evic mini has become a better device. There was much anger over earlier units...probs with TC. I had some fun flipping the display...it's nice to see the numbers as I vape! May your unit bring u much enjoyment!! biggrin.gif
