Has anyone done any research if the interest rates are better of at the beginning or end of the year for the past few years? Just curious.

FDs maturing Dec dunno wanna wait till Jan or just place with 4.5% in Dec.

Indonesian FD Rates is as high as 7%... and amount is higher can upto 9%...

India and Sri Lanka can be up to 15% pa. So my expat Indian and Sri Lankan colleagues earn in SGD and place FD in their home country. Sibeh perfect combination.

Few questions
1) How do you put FD there? Take a flight there?
2) Do they accept malaysia's cheque?
3) How long do you put?

If putting indon FD at 9%, I think a flight there every 2 years to renew is kind of worth it.

Is it confirmed MBSB is offering 4.5% pa for 18 mths (new customer)? If so, I think its a better deal than OCBC rite? Ok to go in?

If you are OK with no pidm,  then it's ok. But ocbc is better. 12 months get 4.5%. Mbsb need 18 months.
*
Isnt it 4.5% PER ANNUM? Meaning we get the same rate for a longer period? So I dont need to find a good deal after just 12 months but I can wait till after 18 mths to hunt for another good deal. Correct?

Yes. But what you said is true. But one can look at this way, after 12 months, you can go for another higher FD promo instead of waiting 6 months for then only remove your money.  What happen if after the 12th month, there's a new FD at 4.6%?
*
Then my understanding is correct. Understand your point too. Many thanks.

If you intend to lock your funds for a longer tenure period, maybe the Ambank current promotion of 2 yrs 4.6% with PIDM is suitable for you.  drool.gif

Thanks for the info but Ambank near me. MBSB & OCBC nearest to my office.

So i went to RHB yesterday to enquire on their FD promo. the person at the branch told me that they do consider fresh fund even if transferred into the account online.

the person said they consider it fresh if it is within 2-3 days. biggrin.gif
*
So stupid limit to 2-3 days only. Min 7 days la ..... cos my past experience, limit transfer online per day only 5k. 10 days transfer also total 50k only. So they didnt allow me place 50k FD, only accept 15k. I so marah I just took out all my money and go to another bank to place FD.

You can set the online transfer limit yourself. If I am not mistaken, you can set the online limit up to rm30k/day.

A question for those familiar or existing OCBC account holder, can FD being withdrawn cross branches?
and if can, is there any limit?

New to OCBC.

Reason, attracted by the 4.5% FD.  tongue.gif
*
No you cant. But can withdraw online and transfer the fund into your current account.

Young man  tongue.gif , leng lui is just tidbits/desserts. Not the main course. FD is the main course.  biggrin.gif

So when OCBC offered 4.5%, I went there. Now Affin has 4.6%, I am going to Affin next Monday.  rclxm9.gif

not sure if anyone shared it before.
you can compare all the FD rates of all banks according to tenures in one website @ imoney.com.my
*
They compare promo rates as well or only board rates?
