Well. Normally will take sometime before the units reflect in account.
In the meantime.

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Nov 4 2015, 01:19 PM)
I'm new to this, and just signed up for a FSM account. I have been looking at the CIMB Principal Asia Pacific Dyanmic Income Fund for the past few months, the returns over the past 3 years have been pretty superlative, but how do you guys know when is the best time to start investing in it? Past performance is no guarantee of future performance of course, and given the returns for this fund over the years who's to say the fund is past its best now? I'm looking at the country allocation, 4% is in China now when a few months ago it was around 15-20% I think, so I guess they pulled out of china when the markets there tanked.

I'm tempted to buy into the funds now especially with the 1% sales charge, my investment horizon is medium-to-long (4-5 years), any advice you guys can give?

Welcome . rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

Diversify....

buy every month, observe the price of each month, try to get at a lower price each month.

i am sure we can win in long term  thumbup.gif

I given up on trying to time my buyings every month. Just chuck in when gaji mari LOL
But still keep 2 eyes on general concensus in this thread. LOL.

QUOTE(Vanguard 2015 @ Nov 4 2015, 02:31 PM)
Welcome to FSM.

Diversify. Divide your funds. Use DCA for 12 months if you are investing RM10K or more. Perhaps you can consider:-

1.  1 Global Equity Fund
2.  1 Asia Pacific Equity Fund (ex Japan)
3.  1 Malaysian Equity Fund
4.  1 Malaysian Bond Fund
5.  1 Asian Bond Fund

Forget about supplementary portfolio, i.e. investing in a single sector or single country fund for the time being.

Put RM1K each in every of the above fund. But if you are printing money and are investing RM100K, then can put a bit more into each fund and DCA the rest for the next 12 months. You can also try Value Averaging if you have the time.

Note : Some sifus here would include an Emerging Markets Fund or BRIC but I find the FSM funds for these markets so, so only.

Decision...decision....where to start? Perhaps look at FSM's Recommended List of Funds as a starting guide?

Also read, read and read more on the topic of unit trusts. Good luck.
*
Haha.. Emerging Markets not your taste?

Care to explain how to use dca from fsm? Is the dca = dual currency account?

Removes you from your emotional expense of trying to time the market. laugh.gif

Ponzi 2.0 std-dev is 8.24% meaning it will swing +/- 8.24%  two-third of the time.

As of YTD it has increased only 11.53%; its three year average is 19.52%.

You say will go up or down some more leh?

Xuzen
*
Abang Xuzen....

Question...

8.24% , means, 60% chance of +/- 8.24% around a mid point.

as of YTD, it has increased 11.53%. 3 year average is 19.52%.

The way I understand it is....

Mid point = 19.52%

Current is 11.53%

Current < Mid Point.

60% chance of it will rebound up? rclxub.gif

QUOTE(xuzen @ Nov 4 2015, 10:00 PM)
Wah lau eh... cepatnya you belajar!

Actually, at 11.53% it is very near to negative One Standard deviation which means that it has about 67% chance to move towards the convergence point i.e., the 19.52% mark, and only 33% chance of it going away from the convergence point.

The convergence point or mean is the inertial point, meaning by natural tendency the outcome wants to move towards there most of the time.

Bang Xuzen kasi lu A minus!

YES!!!!..... at least i passed.... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

==============================================================

Titans.
SD 8.32%
YTD 18.56%
3 Year convergence point 21.16%
Chance of it converging to 21.16% mark is 20.93%
Chance of it converging away is 79.07%

35.03% chance to go down towards 11.28%

KGF
3 year ave 16.84
ytd 18.28

91.596% chance to go up towards 28.32%

SMALLCAP
3 year ave 30.92

66.95% chance to go down to 12.29%

Titans
3 year ave 21.16
ytd 18.56

LOL arguing about which NAV for reinvestment....

Let's be objective, this CIMB Titan is at best a moderate risk fund i.e., the volatility is like 8.XX% p.a. Divide that by 365 days = WTF! 0.023% movement a day sahaje....

Ini pun you orang nak split hair pasal hal ini...

here have some eye candy (specially for Pinky: Viet Mois)

Nav drop can be effected by not only by distribution. It might be other things.

Fsm indicates reinvestment date is 29th.

Should be using nav on 29th. Even though our pattern matching brain indicates the next day got a *big* drop in nav and assumes that is due to distribution. And hence. Reinvestment nav.

Should la. Unless anywhere got mix up. Either way. I am still getting my extra units.
