Intel Core i7 6700K - RM 1499
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - RM 759
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 3000MHz RAM - RM 630
MSI GTX980 4GB GDDR5 OC Twin Frozr V - RM 2459
Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB SSD - RM 385
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 409
Corsair Hydro H55 - RM 269
Phanteks Enthoo Pro M - RM 359
Dell U2414H IPS - RM 1049

Total: RM 8033 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Non-oc build can save you at least 1k which you can use to get 27 inch QHD monitor or GTX980Ti (not useful if light gaming) etc.

Note: R9 390X is more powerful than GTX980 at double memory size and cheaper price tag.

Thanks, can quote me the R9 390X and Non-oc mean?
Where and when i can buy all this from?
*
Non-oc means non overclocking build, if you only overclock by a little bit then it is not worth the effort and money in overall, if your workload isn't too heavy then you won't benefit from the small gain too, the price/performance ratio is quite bad sometimes sweat.gif

If you intend to stay with oc build, then you can consider st4Lk3rz's suggestion on R9 390X and the new QHD monitor.

But here is another non-oc build.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1318
Gigabyte H170-HD3 (D4) - RM 488
Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 400
MSI R9 390X 8GB GDDR5 Gaming - RM 1990
Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB SSD - RM 385
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 409
Phanteks Enthoo Pro M - RM 359
Dell U2715H QHD - RM 2270

Total: RM 7834 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Some balance left for Windows 10 Home license key.

Thank you very much... Very helpful... appreciate it..
If walk in to the shop can they install everything for me? Any Charge?
How much win 10 license?
*
They can help you assemble it but not sure got any charges or not (last time no extra charge but now economy is not so good already so there is a little chance they will charge you whistling.gif )

If you get from retail shop, normally Windows license keys are priced at MSRP which can be quite expensive, should be around RM 300 for OEM key, if they have lubang then you might be able to get it cheaper.

There are 2 types of license key, OEM and retail.

OEM can only be activated once on a mobo and will be tied with the mobo forever, but it is much cheaper than retail.

Retail can be activated few times before you need to re-arm the key with the help from Microsoft, it can be carried over to new mobo but its price is horribly expensive.

QUOTE(Ivan Sac @ Feb 24 2016, 12:13 AM)
Budget] RM1.5k to RM2k without monitor.Will top up RM300 - RM500 separately for monitor.

[Purpose] Work & Light Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Only my 3 SATA HDD

[Monitor resolution] Full HD

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom - sometimes only. FIFA & Football Manager.

[Personal preferences] Need a PC which is upgradable in future, hence need a mobo with a better specs. Might be using 2 monitor simultaneously.

[Location] KL

My current 8 years old rig couldn't cope up anymore.  Need a new rig asap. Main usage will be Illustrator & Photoshop. Minor usage on Lightroom. Not into gaming for the moment, but prefer a spec which can play FIFA.

Need a SSD and might be adding another SATA HDD soon so need a mobo which have enough sata ports and casing with sufficient slots for HDD.

Thanks in advance to all the sifus.
*
Upgradeability depends on many factors, for processor part, if next gen processor still uses 1151 socket then you can upgrade it, for RAM slots, it got 4 so don't think you can max it out so fast yet. For GPU part, it has PCI-E 3.0 and can support any modern GPU now so no worries there too.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 792
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 403
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 196
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 209
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 185

Total: RM 1973 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

BenQ GW2270 - RM 429

Dedicated GPU is not included, the iGPU of Skylake is quite powerful to handle modern games at low/medium settings at playable frame rate, it is either you go this path and add a dedicated GPU later when you have more funds or go with Core i3 and a low end GPU (not recommended in the long run).

Hey everyone, I am new to malaysia and will be in miri sarawak soon,
I need help to build my PC.

[Budget] RM2K~2.5K whether with or without monitor

[Purpose] Gaming + Study + Torrent

[Hardwares that will be re-use] none

[Games & softwares that use frequently] WOT, LOL, Civilizations, GTA

[Personal preferences] Intel i54400

[Location] Miri

I'd appreciate if someone can help me in to tell where to buy these parts in Miri

Also, with that limited budget, I like to look for any good second hand GPU

Thank you advance

Awaiting your reply

I am not from Sarawak so I don't know where to get PC parts there but most of the citizens of Sabah & Sarawak buy their PC from Peninsular Malaysia and have their rig shipped from Peninsular Malaysia to their doorstep due to wider hardware choice in Peninsular Malaysia.

Let me know if you are ok with this, if are ok then I will proceed to rig suggestion.

Different seller different price, it is impossible to have similar price unless they follow the MSRP.

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 492
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 196
Zotac GTX750Ti 2GB GDDR5 ZT-70605-10M - RM 509

FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149

Terrence, is this spec you suggested good enough for max setting for dota 2?
also if i wanna change the 1TB HDD to let's say 160gb SSD and include the price for windows as well roughly how much would it cost in total?

please advice.
thanking you in advance.
*
Yes no problem to get 1080p60.

Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 209

Windows OS price depends on which version you are going to get, Windows 10 Home OEM is around RM 300 (if you get from retail shop), they will install a trial version for you if I am not mistaken, you can confirm with them.

QUOTE(Ivan Sac @ Feb 24 2016, 12:45 PM)
Hi thanks for the reply. Would like to ask about the processor, is i5 6400 really worth the price if compared with i3 6100 ?
Did some google search and found this review, Im not sure whether its trust able or not. Here is he link : i3 vs i5 . From the website I found that both having almost same performance, i5 do have slight advantage. Will i5 6400 bring huge difference in term of  performance compared to i3 ? Thanks once again.
*
It depends on your usage, i3 is dual core with 2 extra virtual threads while i5 is quad core.

If usage or workload isn't too heavy, then i3 is enough.

If you play latest triple A titles, you will notice CPU usage is pretty high now and some of them are even bashing all the cores of i5 to 100% usage.

If you plan to get a powerful GPU in the future, go for i5, so you don't have to upgrade the i3 to i5 to reduce the bottleneck.

also, how to pay? it will be some time till i open a bank account in miri

cheers
*
You can make payment via online bank transfer.

Ermm, your initial post stated max 2.5k budget, so I assume it is not a typo and you have increased the budget to 3.5k.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 792
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 403
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 196
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90302-10M - RM 867
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 209
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 185
BenQ GW2270 - RM 429

Total: RM 3484 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

You can contact ETech here or here.

Other shops that you can consider are Techview, Idealtech etc.

hi sifus, its been a long time since i seek advice from here. a friend of mine wanted to build a rig,
budget around rm5k,
gaming purpose,
no monitors or other peripheral needed.

thank you in advance

forgot to add,
suggest me oc and non oc rig
also amd build and intel build (gpu prefer amd)
*
Assuming you're gaming on 1080p.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1318
Gigabyte H170-HD3 (D4) - RM 486
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 196
Sapphire R9 390X 8GB GDDR5 Tri-X OC - RM 1945
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 209
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
Corsair Carbide Spec-01 - RM 240

Total: RM 4972 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Intel Core i5 6600K - RM 1025
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - RM 719
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 2800MHz RAM - RM 339
MSI R9 390 8GB GDDR5 Gaming - RM 1537
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 209
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
Corsair Hydro H55 - RM 266
Corsair Carbide Spec-01 - RM 240

Total: RM 4913 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Non-oc build packs with more performance.

Skipped AMD CPU build suggestion due to aged platform (not worth to invest anymore for gaming purpose now).

may i know which gpu is better ?
Radeon R280 vs Asus GTX750Ti in term of performance and prices ?
*
R9 280 is always better than GTX750Ti, even the weaker R9 270 is also faster than GTX750Ti.

If you want to buy GTX750Ti, don't look for Asus/Gigabyte, they are expensive, try looking for Zotac/Palit, especially those priced < RM 550.

PowerColor R9 270 is just RM 530.

*
R9 280 without a doubt but R9 280's power consumption is much higher than GTX750Ti, so please ensure the PSU can support before making purchase.

FSP+ Hexa 550W ? or you can suggest one ?

another question ? as i know, i7 6700 base clock speed is 3.4Ghz while i7 4790k is 4.0GHz, if i want to get a good one, which one should i go ? as i7 4790k is cheaper than i7 6700
*
Full load could draw nearly 270W, still ok but if you have extra money, go for something better, like Seasonic M12II EVO 620W.

i7 4790K is Haswell CPU (4th gen) so you need to get Haswell mobo, you can pair it with lower end H81/B85 without issue (some of them allow overclocking with BIOS update) and the RAM module will be the slightly slower DDR3.

My recent rig is getting inconsistent ping because I'm using an old wireless adapter.

Should I get a homeplug, or get an AC wireless adapter instead? I'm using an Asus AC router btw.
*
If ethernet cable is an option, then it will be the first choice as it is the best for gaming due to almost zero packet lost and consistent latency.

If your are behind a wall or there is a big obstacle between you and the router, then high chance it will cause packet lost and bad latency.

Maybe you should try other devices first at exact location of your PC, if the culprit is really the old wireless adapter then only get a new adapter, if not then homeplug would be better.

hi guys,

need suggestion of new GC (around rm 1k) and a ssd
since i'm last decade person, i haven't upgrade my rig over 3 years
so will be needing your suggestion and advice.

rig spec: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 - Kingston Hyper-X 4gbx2 - Cooler Master V6 - MSI GTX560ti Twin frozer 2 oc edition - 1x 500 Gb blue WD, 1x 1 Tb WD Green - Cooler Master 431 plus - Samsung DVDRW - Logitech G110 - Razer Death Adder - Samsung BX2231 - Altec Lansing VS4121
*
The cheapest GTX960 is around RM 850, while 120GB SSD is around RM 200, if you are ok with some top up, then this will be the best option for the time being.

as rendering use cpu raw power, does that make i7 4790 is much better than i7 6700 ? coz most of the reviews i saw make more comparisons in term of gaming etc. The only downside of getting an i7 4790 is you cant use ddr4 ram is it ?
*
4790 or 4790K?

If 4790 vs 6700 then go for 6700, both are having similar boost speed.

4790 is Haswell platform so it doesn't support DDR4.

What is the normal temp for graphic and CPU for average load?

Will it be ok at the same time for CPU around 45C for 75% CPU load and 40C for graphic card (running bluestack game)?
