these software doesnt need gpu?
*
The iGPU should be enough, rendering is more towards CPU computing.

If you insist to get a dedicated GPU, you can downgrade the i7 to i5 6500 and get a GTX750 for CUDA technology, but seriously it won't help much in rendering speed/time unless the software is heavily relying on GPU computation.

[Budget] RM7.5k

[Purpose] Heavy Gaming, Photoshop & Lightroom, Movie.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None

[Monitor resolution] 2k Resolution ( Can advise me whether with graphic card now is it able to achieve 2k with ultra graphic setting? )

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain, Rome Total War 2, Photoshop & Lightroom, Assasin's creed series, football manager.

[Personal preferences] Monitor I prefer Dell/Asus, prefer smaller case and silent. No OC required as i will be lazy doing it after half year. Not sure whether USB type A and type C port are recommended to have for future purpose.

[Location] JB

Thanks!

Your budget can fit a GTX980Ti so ultra settings at 2K isn't a big problem for optimized games. AS for USB Type A/C, you can always buy one and plug into the PCI-E slot if needed later.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1365
ASRock B150M HDV - RM 365

The CPU cooler just use the stock cooler or its wise to get third party cooler? Possible to add keyboard, mouse and speaker into the budget as this is a totally new setup. Thanks! Is there any difference between B150M and H170M?
*
Stock cooler should be ok since you cannot overclock the CPU, if you are not satisfied with the CPU temp after you have gotten your rig, then only get a decent 3rd party cooler.

Logitech MK200 Wired Combo - RM 69
Edifier M1250 2.0 Speaker - RM 42

B150 and H170 difference is small, B150 doesn't have SATA RAID support, Intel AM/TE/vPro support which consumers hardly use these features to be honest.

The "M" behind stands for mATX form factor.

Nice! this is what i've been looking for. mATX form factor, any suggestion of 3rd party cooler as I worry the compatibility issue whether can fit to this case or not. Also will Seasonic S12II 620W be fit in this casing? According to my finding, this should be modular, correct?
*
Any 3rd party air cooler with height < 160mm (e.g. Cryorig H7/Cryorig H5 Ultimate) should be ok but this depends on the clearance/space available and your cable management.

Seasonic S12II 620W can fit in the case but it is a non modular PSU, you can top up to get the fully modular version (Seasonic M12II EVO 620W) at RM 379.

No budget, just hope can build a good performance price ratio gaming rig.

Alright I will just create a build with i5 + GTX970 which is good enough for 1080p gaming.

And due to limited products range by Thundermatch, there is no cheap DDR4 based B150/H170 mobo to pick so I will just use Haswell instead because there are reports saying DDR3 on Skylake mobo will cause damage to memory controller after long time of use.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 788
MSI B85M-E45 - RM 313
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 198

Thank you so much! Btw, is it better to use i5 4690 with extra rm60? Will performance improve a lot? Also, is it better use better psu with extra rm40? Corsair VS650W Modules Power Supply. Are there any better monitor 24" inches with similar price?
*
Didn't notice the price difference is just RM 60 because other shops are selling roughly RM 100 higher. You can go for that but speed is mostly depend on the app usage, normally 3.0GHz is enough for gaming nowadays unless you do rendering work which benefits from higher speed. Same goes to PSU, RM 40 is OK for 100W for me too.

As for monitor, S2340L is the best you can get with RM 600 range but please take note the screen is glossy finish, meaning you can see reflection when you are under bright light source.

Oh, not the real Thundermatch it seems, just a subsidiary of it.

But anyway, you are using a locked CPU so getting a Z97 board might be a bit useless though, but you do get full size ATX board and more PCI-E slots so you make your own choice here brows.gif

Jayacom doesn't carry Seasonic PSU so you have to settle with that overpriced Corsair PSU with low grade internal components at the same price point.

Here is another build with Skylake (6th gen).

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 885
ASRock B150M-HDV - RM 365

Hmm will consider this specs, but isnt that Corsair PSU plus Bronze as well? dont know how to differentiate it.
thanks!
*
You cannot justify the quality of PSU by just looking at the 80+ rating, the rating is just the efficiency of the PSU, you need to look for the components inside the PSU, that's the main concern when we talk about the quality of PSU.

You can look for the PSU thread pinned in this section, plenty of useful information posted there for your reading thumbup.gif

I been surveying laptop. Found lenovo y70 (i7.gtx960m 4gb, ram16gb ddr3)

But now wonder. Can i get somewhat same performance but at lower price if i go for desktop?

Hope sifu here can help. Thanks

[Budget]

less than 4k la. Cuz the laptop is 4k.lower better la lol

[Purpose]

web surfing. Game.

[Hardwares that will be re-use]

already have monitor.  keyboard and mouse.

[Monitor resolution]

lupa la. Old samsung monitor. 720p kot sweat.gif

Might buy new hd monitor later

[Games & softwares that use frequently]

fifa. Sims 4.dragon age. Firefox lol

[Personal preferences]

Maybe 2 storage. 1 small ssd for windows. 1tb hdd for storage

Need Bluetooth. To connect to my Bluetooth speaker

Others dont mind. Just wanna see how low can i go. To get same performance as the lenovo y70

Thank you very much

Desktop build always has better performance at the similar price tag of laptop.

GTX960M is similar to desktop version of GTX750Ti or slightly better (GTX760). With 4k budget, you can definitely get something nearly 3 times better than GTX960M, e.g. GTX970/R9 390.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 885
ASRock H170M-ITX/ac - RM 599
GSKill NT 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 249
Palit GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1399
Samsung 650 Series 120GB SSD - RM 219
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 199
CM Elite 130 - RM 199

Total: RM 3968 (Idealtech price inclusive of GST)

This is a small form factor (SFF) rig with WiFi/Bluetooth adapter included. You can go for standard ATX build at slightly cheaper cost but you have to buy WiFi/Bluetooth adapter externally.

Thank you very much

Looks like the answer to my question "desktop cheaper than laptop?"

Is "damn right"  lol. So much cheaper

1 last thing. In your opinion. If i dont really mind medium setting on games,

Should  i switch to lower graphic card like 760 or 960

and use i7 instead of i5(better processor) ?

Would it benefit me more?
*
Desktop CPU and laptop CPU is also same case as GPU, some mobile version of i7 CPUs are similar to desktop version of i5 CPUs, 4 core 4 threads, some are 4 cores 8 threads (HQ version), so you cannot compare them directly especially those "U" version CPU on laptop.

i5 6500 is just slightly weaker than i7 4710HQ, if you want i7 6700, you have to top up nearly RM 500 which is not really worth the money unless your purpose is rendering/heavy CPU dependent software, else i5 is enough for now.

If you are more on gaming, i5 + GTX970 is better than i7 + GTX960. In most of the modern games now, you will get nearly similar performance in terms of FPS with i5 + GTX970 and i7 + GTX970 (mostly i7 will have ~ 5 FPS advantage), some games don't even show any improvement at all on i7. But if you go for GTX960, the FPS difference will be huge compared with GTX970 (nearly half).

So in conclusion, get a better GPU and stay with i5 is a better pick for now.
