Guys, can you recommend me specs for a PC for RM2000?

Aiming for a gaming rig.

On the side note, is the BenQ EW2440L a good monitor to be used for gaming?

Guys, I'm planning on building a PC rig.

My budget is around RM2000
Usage is mainly for gaming
I need suggestion on whether the stuff I'd be using back is compatible or not.

HDD is fine, I have 4TB worth of HDD.
I have a CoolerMaster 650W
ASUS P5KPL-AM

Stuff such as Wireless card, mouse, keyboard & speakers not necessary. Already have them.

Anyone who could help me with suggesting a rig build for me would highly be appreciated.

Note: The most graphical demanding game I play is Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Intel Core i3 4160 - RM 469
MSI B85M-E45 - RM 313
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 199
Leadtek GTX960 2GB GDDR5 Hurricane - RM 879
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 159

Total: RM 2019 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

You can probably reuse RAM and case and upgrade the CPU to i5.

Hi guys,

Need to your advice again before I commit to anything

[cool.gif [Budget] RM 2200

[Hardwares that will be re-use] HDD, Monitor

[Monitor resolution] My current monitor is only 720p, but I'm keeping it for now. Might wanna upgrade sometime later

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Warframe, Photoshop; Would like to be able to play GTA V, Witcher 3, MGS V with decent performance

[Personal preferences] can I get an i5 and a GTX 960 with this budget? Open to other GPU recommendations, but I'd like to at least have the i5

You can have i5 + GTX960 if you reuse your case too. If you need front USB 3.0 & PCI-E 3.0 support, top up and upgrade to a better mobo.

Thanks Terence.

I don't think I can use my old casing. It's a standard casing like those you see in schools, offices and such. I'm not sure if it can fit all these new hardware. Also, if I were to upgrade the mobo, how much would I need to top up, and what difference will it make? Sorry, I really don't know a thing about mobos rclxub.gif . Please enlighten me.

Thank you.

H81 you see with the mobo model is the chipset, H81 is the lowest end of Haswell, it doesn't have USB 3.0 header for front USB 3.0 panel input, but you still can access it at the rear of mobo, just not so convenient. The next thing is PCI-E support, max speed for H81 mobo is 2.0, latest is 3.0, 4.0 is due next year. Speed difference is quite huge if you see the figure but if only for GPU, it won't really make a difference.

Some manufacturers modded the chipset and added the USB 3.0 header to it, such as ASRock H81M-HDS ans Asus H81M-K, both are priced above RM 200 now.

I'm contemplating whether i should get a gtx 970 or r9 390.

Is my 4 year old Corsair TX 650w sufficient for R9 390?
How much is r9 390 power consumption when playing latest games on max settings compared to gtx 970?

I'm currently using i7 2600 btw.

Enough, average power consumption when gaming is around 250W for R9 390 while GTX970 is around 180W.

If you are not a green/red camp fan boy, then R9 390 with more VRAM is a much better choice since your PSU is able to handle it brows.gif

Due to budget unable to fit Skylake (6th gen), I will just use Haswell (4th gen).

Intel Core i3 4170 - RM 516
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220

Edit:

If you want small case, you can try mITX (SFF), swap the mobo to MSI H81I (RM 299), case to CM Elite 110 (RM 159) and downgrade the monitor.

Your budget is low and will end up with locked Intel CPU so stock cooler will do the job fine, no need to spend money on water cooler AIO.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 827
Asus B85M-G - RM 329
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220
Gainward GTX960 2GB GDDR5 Reference OC - RM 799
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 169
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 2708 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

This build is based on Haswell (4th gen) instead of Skylake (6th gen) due to budget unable to fit Skylake.

If you insist to get water cooler AIO, the cheapest one is Deepcool Maelstrom 120T at RM 199.
