Okay okay, I'll explain to you thoroughly and maybe put in the front page also so that newbies can use as a guide.

What you need to get started with RC drifting. [TAMIYA]

1. DIY
a) Car kit (chassis, internal parts, etc. w/o motor)
b) Motor (if not included)
c) Wheels (ABS for tyres and rims of your choice)
d) Bearings
e) Remote control
f) Remote control receiver
g) Servo (the unit that will steer the car)
h) 6 cell battery
i) Charger for the battery
j) Bodyshell of your choice

2. Ready made
a) Car kit (w/motor, wheels, remote control, receiver, servo and bodyshell)

d) ABS for tyres (replace stock rubber tyres with these)

Here's the pricing structure (DIY).

c) - RM100 (ANSMANN AC30 BASIC CHARGER)

3. Drift kits (TAMIYA TT-01 DRIFT SPEC)

b) Remote control
c) Receiver
d) Servo
e) Battery

a) costs RM650, the rest as per above.

Remember that you can always get second hand stuff, including the car itself but the prices above are based on NEW and BASIC ones, available at Tamiya Underground, 1 Utama.

Forgot to mention, ABS a type of pipe that can be cut to fit the RC car's rims, and it has zero traction thus allowing a good drift. FYI, only my car is new, the rest of my stuff is second hand and I got my whole package now for sub RM1000 if it wasn't for the extra accessories I bought.

waaa,my parent will scold me if i get one but they will never scold me if i get a gaming rig at rm4000....That is why lol...

exactly, when a Playstation 2 also costs almost the same price why do ppl call that cheap and this expensive?? it's not so much about the passion anymore, this is more about mentality. one man's bouquet of roses is another man's pile of shit, if you know what I mean.

infact, I also dont see the point of a couple of small battery powered cars going around in a fixed track? maybe you can enlighten me on why it's wise to spend half of what others spend on bigger sized cars that they can actually control, on mini 4wd, then the guys out there who say RC is for rich folks will understand what I mean smile.gif

I questioned that myself, but my theory is the lighter it is the more torgue you have to have. So since the 1/10 cars are very light, there's not enough weight just from gravity (add weights if you like, it still wont work!) and momentum to make for the front wheel to grip the surface.. in a way it is weight shifting la, but if I can recall if you have a fast motor, heavy front and softer tyres up front you can drift 2 wheel also.. I think..

but to avoid the rocket science, we just use all drift tyres, 4 wheel drive it and kao kao slide tongue.gif

chris, about the Mini-Z drifting, same thing as my opinion, I doubt there's enough weight..

I'm not an expert on QD cars but I believe you can't change the internal parts like the motor and ESC, including servo, but the tyres can be changed. anyways, you can try to open up the shell to see if the internal parts are removable or not what.. but thats not the important thing, QD cars rear wheel driven right?
