Bank yield currently quite low as compared to Reits. What is your strategy then? Any counters that u have collected during the correction since early of the year? |

QUOTE(Hansel @ Feb 18 2016, 05:46 PM) Added further of Ascott Residence Trust today. HOme prices in The USA are starting to climb, this shuld bode well for ART since this trust has started to venture into the US mkt (from,... I think JUly last year when she bought some high-end props in NY City). TQ Hansel.. i will consider Ascott REsidence Trust.Sorry, have decided to top-up on KepCorp too, personal reasons...because my Average Price is high. I observed that KepCorp moves very much in tandem with oil price. And since oil price is not only affected by the Supply and Demand equation, there is a chance for oil price to climb WHEN the powers-in-charge decide that oil price SHOULD CLIMB. And with the climb in oil price, so will the price of KepCorp. I just can't afford to let KepCorp run off too far. I need to average down in order to enjoy yields above 7% when everything recovers. Target is 7.5%,.. even if it drops back, can still get 6.8% to 7%, at worst. KepCorp would still have that problematic non-paying client called Sete Brazil. But KepCorp is not SembCorp, because KepCorp is more nimble, and has different lines-of-business. I still have faith in KepCorp. Secondly, I have a feeling that all of Sete's problems will go away when the powers-in-charge in the oil industry can come to an agreement. Reading through a lot of rumour and 'gossip' materials today signal this to me. Sometimes, it's good to pickup from such materials from the industry. I am still eyeing OCBC though,... I said earlier that my TA said in the short term, if OCBC dips beneath 7.50, then it would be a Good Buy,.. I missed that level Good call there,.... Their main concentration of property is in Japan... 33 units. and USA only 1 unit... This post has been edited by elea88: Feb 18 2016, 09:06 PM |

QUOTE(Hansel @ Feb 18 2016, 02:02 PM) I am still trying to diversify a bit more, I feel my portfolio of stocks is still too concentrated. Over the past 1.5 mths, I have dded Ascott Residence Trust (to get into housing trust) and I have recently added HPH USD (to get more exposure into USD-denominated holdings). http://www.businesstimes.com.sg/banking-fi...eepening-issuesNow aiming to get into OCBC. I saw some of their financials, looks good for this type of environment. Better than UOB's,.... Other than this, I am watching closely what oil is doing.... for OCBC fan club members.... haha |

QUOTE(Hansel @ Feb 19 2016, 11:09 AM) Elea,...you are absolutely correct on that point, which is also a pull-factor for me whenever I feel like going into the banking stocks. But,...my investing instincts tell me that we still need to have more sturdy counters, and Sgp banks can be regarded as being sturdy enough, reputed to be the strongest in the world. Among the three banks, OCBC happens to be the one which yields the highest now, and if you look at its dividend history, the payout is on a consistent rising trend. Hansel.. TQ for yr analysis...I have plotted the TA for the three banks with a time period from 2008 till now, and the have decided that the first level to buy would be 7.50 for OCBC. Sadly,..I am nit confident that OCBC's price can retrace much further down from 7.50, not in the medium term. And,...2007/8 levels will be highly impossible to attain. Edited by adding : Haha,..I just read your articlein the Business Times after finishing the above input. There have been reports saying that OCBC is affected by this and by that, however, the price just refused to fall enough for me to go in... At a price of 7.88 today, the yield is at :- 1) 4.31% if the payout is at 0.17 Cts and 0.17 Cts. 2) 4.44% if the payout is at 0.17 Cts and 0.18 Cts, and 3) 4.57% if the payout remains similar to last year's, ie at 0.18 Cts and 0.18 Cts. |

QUOTE(gark @ Mar 3 2016, 04:13 PM) I am investing in a few countries, with 4 different brokerage. For Sg I am going for passive income investing. It will be roughly 60-70% REIT and 30-40% yield stocks, my target blended yield to be 8% with 90-95% invested (5% generated from dividend to subscribe future rights same for my strategy for SG. More of Yield collection. For investing in other countries I am going for capital gain. Anyway, Thank you to "Gark". if not because of him.... i will not be motivated to take a trip to SG and open my DBS ac. TQ.... |

QUOTE(gark @ Mar 3 2016, 04:20 PM) SG is my safe haven.. IF anything happen to Malaysia (touch wood).. can still run there and live off my investments. yes i agree.... That is why it is important for me the brokerage is in SG. Anyway no need to thank me, its my pleasure to help. In few years time, i will need to transfer out funds for my kids Education from Singapore. Still looking at what is safe to buy.... i am geared towards the 4x div ... instead of 1 x very shiok to see my statement with the dividends.. haha. |
