I think one  need to look at all things from all angles to be prepare and never let small things slip through.

Small things may/can cause you opportunities.
*
If you shy away from SGX stock now (because of those uncertainties to Singapore), that would cost you opportunities biggrin.gif

For me, the market is way smarter. If the market thinks those news you posted will affect Singapore, you will see the stock market affected almost immediately.

The things I have learnt about stock market all these years is "never thought you are the first to read the news / info and you have the privilege to outsmart the market on those info". The market is always faster and smarter than you ! Ie. I never act like a smart alec

Of course unless you are the big crocs market movers and shakers !

Anyone can check and see if my analysis correct?

Vicplas
- (+) cash flow
- capex low
- increase in revenue
- quite good dividend (6.35% for 2 years)
- low debts

Am I missing something here? Why is the price so cheap at SGD0.12/share?
Analysis based on Annual report
*
If I am researching, the above FA is not enough to make a decision. Need to do more analysis on the followings :

1. Revenue for the last 3 years
2. Profit for the last 3 years
3. Cashflow for the last 3 years
4. Understand their business
5. Management projection/outlook of the financials
6. Current asset vs current liability
7. Borrowing / interest service
8. Company expansion plan / prospect of current and new business
9. Who are the management of the company and their background
10. Who are the major shareholders
11. Share price of the last 52 weeks and 5 years relative to their financial performance
12. PE ratio
13. Market cap
14. Daily trading volume recently
15. No. of shares in public hands
16. Dividend yield and sustainability
17. Research from brokers (if any) and if the company is under their radar

I always give the benefit of a doubt to the market. If the market doesn't see the company as attractive, it will be reflected in the price.

My quick 10 minutes glance at the above data for the company does not attract me. Do let us know about your further research and who knows you found a gem ?

So much info... sad.gif I am not so advance yet. Still noob. From what I found so far no broker/blogger (except one) ever target them  confused.gif That's why information is scarce.
They have two business sectors
(i)  manufacture and distribution of piping systems (uPVC piping)
(ii) developing and manufacturing medical devices

Income in
(i) USD
(ii) SGD
(iii) RM

Dividend wise should be ok? Past 2 years at 6.1%. Before the 2 years was 4.07%

Would like more guidance  notworthy.gif

Those are just basic info...

Actually most of the info are easily obtainable. You can get it from :

1. Annual report (in your link)
2. Latest quarterly report
3. Bloomberg, Yahoo finance, etc
4. Broker's research
5. Co website

Are you financial trained ? If you are, it is easier to zoom into the numbers. If you are not, then more difficult, but can learn. Of the pages and pages of financial reports, only about 5% is useful.

It is a good training by being able to do your own FA. Instead of just relying on other's recommendation. You also don't know correct or not...

The following can be obtain from :

1. Revenue for the last 3 years (annual report of last 2 years)
2. Profit for the last 3 years (annual report of last 2 years)
3. Cashflow for the last 3 years (annual report of last 2 years)
4. Understand their business (annual report, quarterly announcement, company website)
5. Management projection/outlook of the financials (annual report if recent, quarterly announcement, company announcement, company website)
6. Current asset vs current liability (annual report and quarterly announcement)
7. Borrowing / interest service (annual report and quarterly announcement)
8. Company expansion plan / prospect of current and new business (annual report, quarterly announcement, company announcement, business news, google)
9. Who are the management of the company and their background (annual report)
10. Who are the major shareholders (annual report, usually at the end of pages)
11. Share price of the last 52 weeks and 5 years relative to their financial performance (bloomberg, yahoo finance etc)
12. PE ratio (bloomberg, yahoo finance, or calculate yourself based on annual report and quarterly announcement)
13. Market cap (bloomberg, yahoo finance etc)
14. Daily trading volume recently (bloomberg, yahoo finance etc)
15. No. of shares in public hands (annual report)
16. Dividend yield and sustainability (bloomberg, yahoo finance, calculate yourself, quarterly announcement, news, google)
17. Research from brokers (if any) and if the company is under their radar (individual brokerage firms, or ask your broker on availability)

There are lots of gems, even in the Msian mkt. However, the owners do not know how to market their company.
one of my friend does this with his uncle. Spot these companies. Go to see them and interview. Buys into them compnies.
Help them to market them to the fund managers. Price flies..
*
Ya, with analysts and brokerage recommending, the stock will attract attention. And the funds will look at it. Then only have activities.

I saw Valuetronics brokerage recommendation late 2015. Only 0.3xx. I remember I put the link here. Now fly to 0.7xx. Almost 100%

This Vicplas has no brokerage and analyst attention at all. Price flat for the past 5 years. Revenue down. Business uncertain.

Maybe Ramjade is the gem spotter ? thumbup.gif

Wah....Lii Hen, Latitude tree, VS still riding high. Some a few hundred % over the last few years thumbup.gif

But I must say when I follow the brokerage recommendation, more often than not the companies do not perform as expected. But even if 1fly, that one will made up more than enough the under-performed companies

It's like out of 10, only 2-3 are good recommendation. The others so-so or lose money. But the 2-3 really fly and the overall gain is good

Ok I am updating my adventure in case anyone need it.

My RHB remisier just told me that my SG share has transferred to my RHB CDS Account. I can trade next week.

This is the charges involved.
[attachmentid=8706308]

It took 8 working days from the day I signed the transfer form until it credited into my local CDS account.

If I may ask did you open RHB Malaysia or Singapore trading account ?

Guys, I have done a crazy thing. Over the last 2 weeks until today, I have disposed of 99% of all my holdings. Kept only a few lots of each counter in my trading account only biggrin.gif

Don't ask me why. I don't know why rclxub.gif

Shifting my funds into some capital guaranteed bank structured products now....lower return though...

Another blow to Singapore
Tankers begin to offload oil through China-Myanmar pipeline bypassing Singapore altogether

Number of bypasses:
1) Gwadar Port, Pakistan (operational)
2) Kyaukpyu port, Myanmar (operational)
3) Kuantun port via ECRL (coming soon!)

3 bypasses. Can Singpaore still survive?  hmm.gif  sad.gif cry.gif  Thanks to Singaporean politician who openly delare their allegiance to US.  sad.gif

Won't happen so fast. Don't act on the news or affect your short term decision.

Do keep in mind the background of the news website. The website you linked was run by people previously from the opposition party. They may have their own agenda.

But I think the threat will be there. This type of things will take time. Things won't turn bad overnight. So just keep in mind and always be observant to the news related to Singapore. May have a long term effect. But not short term like in the next 3-5 years

Diversification biggrin.gif

As I said to you last time, investment is about risk and return (not cost biggrin.gif ). Diversification is the way to mitigate your risk

So when your portfolio grows bigger, then you have to diversify.

Diversification is not only about country (geographic), you also diversify into asset types (property, stock, interest bearing cash/bond etc), different sector/industry, high/low risk instrument mix...etc

Don't worry too much on a piece of information. For ordinary investor like you and me, always think that the market is more clever than you. Very very rare you can outsmart the market. Even if you think Singapore will be risky with the news, but when the market doesn't think so, the market will still be ok. You can't fight market forces.

So the best is your portfolio is diversified, then you are safe in the long term. Your assets will offset each other and give you a balance return

*
So it is not worth to diversify. And don't worry on things which you have no control biggrin.gif

Everyone starts small. Your time will come. Don't need to rush

The article you read does not have short term effect. Just keep the info in mind that you need to diversify when you are able to

hi,

I copied this from other thread, just to encourage people to embark into foreign stocks.

KLSE is fake market, controlled by certain group, syndicate and individual

u cannot grow your fund here, its fake, just like Korean singers with plastic surgeries.

better u move to US market

Take FB and APple
Apple : Jan 17 >>116, now 153, ROI = 30%
FB : Jan17 >>117, now 152 ROI = 30%
Take any stock in KLSE and see if can match this

*
Many younger generation have not experienced a market crash before. So they have been very optimistic about stock investment.

When you see the Dow increased from 12000 to 20000+ in just 5 years, everyone feels he is the god of investment himself. They feel making money from stock market is so easy

Same goes for KLSE where there is no crash for the last 5 years (although flat). And SGX/ASX had a brief consolidation but have since recovered.

So if a youngster who started stock investment since 5 years ago, he will be filled with optimism. He will forget that stock market is risky and bull and bear will trade places, eventually. In their mind, a crash of 30% or more is unimaginable. Imposibru biggrin.gif

Only when one day they will find out the hard way.

My experience : only invest with the money you can lose. Don't be greedy...
