Looks like Manulife management is screwing existing shareholders with dilutive share issues.

Compare with ums which never even increase dividends.
Ums 0.04, 0.04, 0.04, 0.046

Mm 0.03, 0.03,  0.05,  0.07

Use sgx stocksfact and you can see for yourself. Both companies are without debts but mm ultise cash better than ums.

Roe
Ums 13, 17, 11, 25
Mm 19, 27, 24, 28
*

That's a big jump on UMS ROE!

One time gain or better consistent roe?  I think it's more effective one time thing (confidence in the semi conductor sector)

Not sure. Did not look into the details of the account.

For me I prefer consistent roe vs some sudden jump. You are not sure if it's able to repeat itself.
*
Yes.

That is true.

Wondering if the shifting to Penang has contributed to this?

ECC has come down a bit in price. But its affected by the rise in rates as with all CEFs.
But its keeping up with its dividend distribution for next 3 months

Tq for the infos, Prophet,... comparing the two reports below :-

1) https://seekingalpha.com/news/3289429-eagle...s-0_45-dividend, AND

2) https://seekingalpha.com/pr/17166736-eagle-...nancial-results,

The dps has dropped by more than 50%, ie from 45 cps (August last year) to only 20 cps, May this year. Isn't this a huge plunge within 9 months ?

How much has the price dropped within this time period ?
*
The 45 cents last was a SPecial dividend on top of the Normal monthly dividends.

Meaning last year I reaped $2.40 + 0.45 = $2.85 in total for 2017

0.32 - 0.27 = 0.05 or 18.5% in a few days only

I still keep. I sold last year at 0.4xx if not mistaken. So it's still very cheap to me. Dividend announcement coming right ? Hope the yield still 10ish %

Cannot find on their website any announcement of dividends in June?

I was just alerted on this by a forummer in SG. If you're not a subscriber of BT, you can't read the above article provided in the link.... sorry about this. I can read it cos of complimentary subscription,...hence did not notice,...

Use this link to read : http://www.singaporelawwatch.sg/slw/headli...h.QhaBPjVs.dpbs

Perhaps if the controlling unitholders were disqualified from voting in the EGM last year, Croesus Retail Trust would still be listed in the exchange today.

Let SGX improve on this first,... they heard us,...

Thanks Hans

Yes,.. I know, bro,... but problems need to occur first before remedial steps can be takes,... and investors like us need to alert the regulators towards matters like this. I always say,... we need to cooperate with the regulators to make a better environment for everybody,...

So, this time,... Mr Tan of RegCo is going to focus onto this,... he heard us/'me',.... we must lobby to the right people too,... AND we must not complain of too many things too,.... biggrin.gif

All the behaviours count,... Majulah Singapura....

Place your sitting funds into FD for now,... wait for mkt to correct then,... at least you know your SGD is strengthening vs the RM,.....
*
Yeah

My SGD has been strengthening since 2.30 vs MYR. laugh.gif

smile.gif  Almost same here,... mine from 2.18%,....  smile.gif

However,... I think due to a concept called Time Value of Money,... as the years go by, this 'profit from the exchange rate' will be lesser and lesser on a per annum basis if we do not grow that SGD in-hand,... Reasons being :-

1) Our holdings will not grow in absolute amount so quickly because SG Banks' interest rates are low, very low,... hence, even if we compound over the SGD in-hand, the growth rate is still going to be low.
2) The exchange rate will not grow so quickly, and certainly, there will be a stop-point at the exchange rate trajectory,...

We just have to find a way to increase our SGD money in our coffers,.... to achieve a higher CAGR,... hmm.gif

Opinions ?
*
When I first moved my investments in 2009, it was to hedge against the MYR and at the same time earn dividends, thus SReits.
Those days, AIMS was yielding 10% and Sabana 12%! brows.gif

Was a good move as I saw how gomen was spending like no tomorrow.

Right timing: STI drifts below 200-day moving average
By:
Goola Warden
15/06/18, 08:18 pm
SINGAPORE (June 15): Here is the daily benchmark Straits Times Index chart for our technical analysis this week:

STI daily (3,356)
The Straits Times Index fell 80 points during the past four trading sessions, breaking below the 200-day moving average at 3,431. The 50- and 100-day moving averages are poised to turn down at the 3,500 level. This is likely to act as resistance during rebounds.

user posted image

Short-term indicators are oversold with short term stochastics at the bottom of the range. Any rebound is likely to face resistance at 3,500.

ADX has started to rise from a low level, and the DIs are negatively placed, confirming a possible downtrend. Quarterly momentum is forming a downtrend The weekly chart shows a gradual downturn by annual momentum, with its own weighted moving average turning down a well. This suggests that the main uptrend is probably over.

Immediate support appears at 3,338, the April low. A break below this level would indicate a downside measuring objective.

Yes,.. I do agree on ur points above,.. and that SGreans are downbeat on The SGX. I think they wanted more excitement in the trading volumes,.... biggrin.gif

For myself,.. for safety and for safeguards against unsystemic risks, I will continue to vouch for the SGX.

Let's see in another 5 years from today,...if the The SGX 'fails', the SGD will weaken,...
*
Yeah

We ALL have different objectives.

I am 56 years young. So i am trying to build my DIVIDEND nest. Not so interested in growth companies any more.
SGX allows me to have this and also to hedge against the MYR in devaluation. I have NO confidence ine Msian gomen managing the national economy and fiscal side of the books at all.

SGX has gone through the 3338 support this morning. Be ware .............

Every night become hooked to my PC.. till midnight!!!

Sorry

Did I side track you? smile.gif

Yeah....I was onto SGX dividends since SGD seems to do well against MYR in the long term.
What's not to like?

Get 10 to 12% yields with forex gains too! BUt those yields are drying up. icon_question.gif
Therefore, have to search other avenues to continue to sow and reap more yields, therefore US mkts.
