How was the profitability trading Elliott wave?

Are you only using Elliott wave or any other indicators or theory?

If i recall, one of the best traders, Paul Tudor Jones is also using elliott wave and he is very good at it. He is the only person in the industry as far as i know that is using Elliott wave successfully.

agree with you.

i dont see why i should buy UJ at this moment, rather than keep selling and put more sell trade , if i'm trade against UJ.

on H1 , trend already since 25th sept and it shown the same yesterday.

on H4 , ranging mode , but price slowly to the south.

on D1 , price already intersected mid bb and ema50 during 13th aug and again early week sept. currently it is ranging and will try to retest 119.2xx .

anyway .. control your money management .

No but remember to always read the terms before you deposit
into a broker, some state it in their agreement and cancel all
your profits when you try to withdraw, scam brokers, beware

anyway good morning and happy pay rise guys, 4.4 for MYR damn I'm happy thumbup.gif

if i want to trade long AU, i will perform the trade at 1 hour graph but profit would be around 30-40 pips ...top .

then market will ride to the south again on H4 and D1 chart . but it depends if the market can break the price at 0.704xx ..then i need to calculate my risk again .

anyway trade well , and control your money management (MM) .

EU still remain bullish , as what i told in my previous post.

H1 - valid bull
H4 - waiting for price to breakaway and staying at 1.128xx . then bull it is .
D1 - valid bull

anyway , for those whom already sell EU , control your MM .

Do we have to be aware of the opening session for each country ? Does it mean that more trade volume will take place during that session ?

I have gotten the information below in early thread. Can the sifu help me understand the implication of these times in our trading... fyi all times in MY.

yeap, no system is "pro" here, a sifu using the same system with a newbie,
the positive expectancy will be greater for the sifu.. why? because he mastered
the so called "system" but actually is just a tool for him to make his decisions,
stick to one strategy and master it laugh.gif

I trade swing setups, sometimes hold trades for few days, that's my style,
I've seen profitable scalpers too, depends on each one's style and how
consistent and profitable you are, trading is not a race, it's a marathon,
Daily charts because there are less "noise" and clearer price action, cheers nod.gif

I am practising 2 demo accounts i.e. FXCM and Avatrade (shifted to FXCM because high spread).
I found out odd difference of pair price between these two accounts, both are using MT4. Any expert here can give some comment?
Thank you

I am practising 2 demo accounts i.e. FXCM and Avatrade (shifted to FXCM because high spread).
I found out odd difference of pair price between these two accounts, both are using MT4. Any expert here can give some comment?
Thank you

Diff brokers have different bid ask spreads as their liquidity comes from diff
providers and feeds. If the bid ask difference is VERY significant lets say difference
of 5-6 pips then beware. But price between brokers shouldn't diff more than 1-3 pips

I am currently with FXCM US ( they call it FXCM Market). dont know how secure it is here but FXCM UK sure is more secure.

It's true. But like 9kingsir said below. They didn't enforce it. But if you manage someone's money and people complain because you lose all their money, then you will have a higher chance of getting caught.

I also emailed to them a few years back, they said cannot.

Hello everyone! Just joining in today though I've been reading this forum for a while. I've just started trading for about 2mths+. Any Aussie bulls here this week? It's an Australian week for me... I've been buying AUD/USD, AUD/JPY and selling EUR/AUD.

Why a Malaysian broker, why not overseas?

If you insist for a Malaysian broker than you have to open up an account with the banks.

Try Pepperstone or ICMarkets. Their withdrawal is fast usually within the same week. Withdraw using a credit card is faster than TT.

Thanks for the info... normally credit card have limitation. Fund withdrawn can not exceed funding amount...

If we use Skrill...etc... it take 1-2 days to reach Skrill...another 3 days to reach local bank here... almost 4-5 days... similar to TT already.

There is no limitation. Not that I am aware of. Maybe only applied to certain brokers but definitely not these.

Hi all. Instead of trading myself, is there a way to generate passive income through forex? My friend told me that there is. Minimum amount 1k usd. Monthly dividends of 12-20%. It sounds too good to be true thus the hesitation.

It's possible. But how consistent can he be is the question.
Why not ask for his track record or statement?

He claimed that monthly dividends of 12-20% is guaranteed. Meaning I'll need 7-8 months to get back my capital.

He suggested that I learn to be a trader during these few months though.

I had a brief look at his track record and it's pretty good. But still, too many scammers around. Better be safe than sorry.

Any other way to prove his legitimacy?

Do you have his equity curve from the statement? Could you post it here so that I could see if he is using a martingale strategy or not, etc.

8-10 months is quite good. But again, without any statement I cannot judge because 12-20% a month is possible.

You have to talk to him, tell him that you are interested but would like to have the statement or investor's account for analysis. That's is the only way to tell if he is real or not.

Banks gurantee you 3% per year, this guy promises you 12-20% per month?
For me when someone "gurantees" something most probably becareful,
but 12-20% ok lahh, normal, easy thing to do is, ask for

1) his investor's password (if he dunno what it is or say means red flag)
2) his statement or myfxbook (if he can't give you means red flag)
3) is he consistent on his gains? how big are his drawdowns (drawdown more than >20% = red flag)

If he wants to provide a service, this are the main things you should ask for,
otherwise it is anyone's right to keep it private nod.gif

Yes, I always withdraw through my cc.

Yes, your balance will become 3k, it is just like a normal savings account.

To withdraw, you can choose "Advance Cash" from the ATM machine.

you can generate passive income through fxcopy system (fxcoliseum as example). There you can autocopy from any good trader and get as high as 100% profit per month, or maybe more. Or you can put your trading account there and let people copying your trade. Thats mean you get more passive income.

Minimum amount can go as low as 100usd because you can change %lot multiplier.

Assuming I am trading on the Daily chart. My broker's time starts at 0:00 (midnight) local time, I could see a pin bar formed and it is a sign of a reversal.
However, when I look at another broker which is located at a different timezone, the pin bar is no where in sight and I am just seeing a normal bar.

This is the reason why I don't look at the candle stick patterns. IMHO.

My method is very simple. Usually the simplest strategy is the best and most profitable. I have 3 uncorrelated strategies based on different edges. I could not reveal much but I could tell you that my edges are based on breakout (one system), and market's behaviour/nature (2 systems).

I am not sure how long you have been trading and how familiar you are with trading, so I am not sure how to help.

I believe you are a technical trader. So, technically technical trading is divided into 2. One is mechanical and the other is discretionary.

Mechanical trading is usually based on statistics, probability, maths.
Discretionary can be statistical or non-statistical.

Let me know your approach.

Firstly, price is the most leading and probably the best indicator in forex (in futures we have orderflow as the leading indicator). Therefore I don't use any other indicators.

Some traders trade price actions, some support and resistance, some patterns, etc.

It's not wrong to use an indicator(s) however you have to make sure that you have a statistical edge. The only way to test if it has a statistical edge is to backtest your indicator (manually or automated). If it has a positive expectancy after about 500 trades then you are good to go.

But again, indicators are prone to curve-fitting. It may work now, this year, this month, but probably not the next.

Regarding books, I don't think anyone would want to reveal their edges publicly. Take a look at The Turtles System, it might not be working anymore but worth a read.

Welcome.

One more thing to add. There are 2 types of edges.

1. Temporary = based on certain market behaviour for a period of time or certain pairs.
2. Permanent = based on the overall nature of the market.

I remember there was one thread in Forexfactory showing a temporary edge. It's something like if the price has traveled a certain pips from the open, enter the trade. You can try using this if you don't have an edge. But I am not sure how long it will last. It works on most pairs.

In forex we don't buy and hold because it has no directional bias. This strategy can only be applied in the stock market or indices where they are long-biased.

With some fundamental analysis on the company, buy-and-hold the company's stock is better than keeping the money in the fixed deposit. I believe that is what you are doing.

I think link above do offer MYR currency versus USD but spread is 100p, very big. It's better if you could chat with them. I don't trade MYR.

Dunno' . I don't even really understand the bullish bearish pattern or what so ever but at least it is a start for me to be systematic trading. Before this I just follow my intuition or "agak-agak" whether the trend will go down or not. But anyway it is because of Dr. Charles Burns video based on the candlestick and showing how to read the trend so that is why I am looking for someone who can explain in a more simplified way.

It's not wrong by the way because there are thousands of ways to skin a cat.
If your approach is systematic, you have to be mathematical and statistical.

Do some backtesting, manually or automated, to see if the pattern has a positive expectancy.

Let's say you make a 100 trades on your backtest.

Calculate your winning percentage. For example 40%.
Losing percentage would be 60%

Then you calculate your average winning pips. Let's say 100 pips per trade (after commissions/spread).
Then your average losing pips. Let's say 50 pips per trade.

Profit factor = (40% x 100) / (60% x 50)
Profit factor = 10

This is a very profitable strategy. Anything above 1 has a positive expectancy.

1:100 standard rate, it depends if you really need the extra

Hi Carrer,

Once you start trading, you will eventually realize that psychology plays a very big role in trading. You may have the best trading strategy and knowledge but if you do not master your mindset and emotions, you will eventually make a lot of mistakes and hence be wiped out from the market. This is why most traders cannot go far. By having self-discipline, passion and perseverance, then you will stand a chance to win from the market. Thanks Carrer. Have a pleasant weekend.

Thank you for the reply. I understood this in the context of manual trading. However, this does not apply to automated trading where 100% of the psychological factors are eliminated.

Yeap psychology does play a big part of it, fear and greed are the most common factors that newbies lose money nod.gif
I also have to emphasize that trading is actually 10% luck 20% phychology 30% skill and 40% decision making skill,
what decision you make and take at prices depending on each of our own trading system is what dictates
the direction of the trade taken, everyone has to be responsible for their own trades nod.gif
if you have enough experience and skill, phychology comes into place automatically nod.gif

Dear Viruz,

Robot works, you would need to refer to its yearly performance instead of monthly, so u can get the consistence or more accurate performance of 15% pa.

P/s: robot enters trade at good timing, you may close the trade yourself to secure more profits.

Hope this input help Viruz.

Retail robot or EA selling online usually don't work and are subjected to curve fitting & your broker. What might work today & past few years may not work in the near future. But bear in mind more than 70% of the market activity are also done by algo traders, AFAIK the algorithms are based on price ladder patterns and 24/5 monitored by humans at least in institutional level.
Some of the new generation algo plugged into news feed and able to weight price sentiments with machine reading. I remember reuters also provide news markup language for that service.

15% per annum is more realistic than 15% per month. What is the consistency? How long has it been profitable?
