I'm pure technical trader, i didn't trade news. But i'm not avoiding trades during news. The only time i will avoid to trade is when a particular pair with stalling price. The longer the time price is stalling the more dangerous it is. The calm before the storm.

stalling is good right? that's when you anticipate for a breakout rclxms.gif

Really? Good for you or the others if you know to trade that way. rclxub.gif I can't fully grasp how to trade breakout. My style is more to follow the short term trend, mainly analyse the H1, alongside H4 and Daily. I discard other timeframe.

I love price stalls, usually can get good risk reward entries just before the breakout. Here's a tip: compare as many "price stalls" and how they break out on M30. You'll see a patern once you've studied enough examples biggrin.gif

Please do post, some sifus here might even be able to chip in some ideas. The best way is to keep a trading journal, comment the charts and after awhile your trading will not be to earn money, but to testout all your trading rules. When you win, the markets is saying you did something right, and if you lose then you'll need to find out why. Works especially well on higher time frames like M30.

As i said before, i lose money because i break my own rule that i created doh.gif sounds pretty dumb rite? laugh.gif

If i were to follow my rule exactly which is only trade ONCE DAILY, win or lose... I would be making thousands or ringgit right now sweat.gif

But the problem i faced is when i start trading even if its winning or losing on the first trade, i just cant keep my finger off the button to open another trade doh.gif Last week i suppose to open only 5 trade, but instead i have open about 100 more doh.gif sad.gif

I hope i can fix this problem when i start posting my trade here, wish me luck guys cry.gif

Oh ic, I guess I misread your post. Well, since you only need to trade once a day, just shut off your MT4 once you've entred the trade. Before you sleep or the next day only open again, haha. If you don't see the charts then you'll be less tempted to overtrade.

Breakouts are quite an art nod.gif You must see where it breaks from, from which area/price zone,
how are the candles behaving. For TF analysis, instead of discarding, try looking and plot price
areas with strong S&R especially on weekly and monthly TF, those zones are usually strong laugh.gif

Hi! Need some feedback / comments on my live trade.

My overall outlook on GBP/USD is downtrend.

I SELL GBP/USD on 6-Jan @ 1.46688. When profit was around 85 pips I set Trailing Stop @ 75 pips. After that I left the trade running since I was protected by my Trailing Stop.

However prices reverse and my Trailing Stop was hit and position closed (7-Jan) with 64.1 pips profit.
Subsequently after about 10 hours from my EXIT, the prices reversed down again. So I felt a little bit frustrated with my Trailing Stop.

Any suggestion on how to improve my trade? Thanks.

the only advise i could give from my newbies perspective is to do a proper analysis before you go with your entry and trust your analysis. if you want to swing, stop using ts. ts will ruin analysis even if your analysis were actually on your favor. you can use use different tf to confirm a reversal then manually exit a position with acceptable confirmation.

TS or SL is still necessary no? because you can't be monitoring 24 hours and get out of the trade in case of reversal.

Precisely, that is what I thought TS are supposed to protect our capital & let the profit run since I cannot be monitoring 24 hours. Hmmmm ... any other suggestions?

Really, you can only predict how the market will move up to a certain point after your entry. My personal opinion is that you exited at the right place, because it could have gone all the way up to your entry before coming down. Besides, if you entered with a tight SL just above your entry, you would've gotten a very good risk-reward ratio at your exit, which I think is good enough flex.gif
