install google photos and onedrive, auto backup all photos

use a mi router, all photos auto back up to your hard disk at home

I dislike google photo as it back up my photos to main google drive and not under one folder. All photos are surrounding there. Is there anyway to have all photos in one folder?

Not sure if MIUI 8 will make mi4i even more slower than current.

google's good is unlimited storage,
bad news is the resolution is reduced, but still usable for prints as big as a3
you can create a seperate account just for this purpose so seperated from your usual account. good idea if you have seperate phone for different girlfriends

you can try custom roms?

now I already upgraded to Mi4C, MIUI still not smooth and kinda sluggish despite decent specs.

miui has funny bugs. will refrain from miui ever again

The MIUI on Mi4i is a disaster! super lag and always kill background processes! MIUI V6 & V7 are all the same, super lame performance !

To run it smoother, the only way is running custom ROM, I have tried CM12 and CM13 mod few months back, it was fast but not so reliable, I have experienced random reboot or SOD frequently and was force to flash back to MIUI V7

Until recently, I found out Paranoid Android, a cynogenmod custom ROM based on android 6.0.1, this rom is really good, it is fluid and smooth, and it is quite stable, the latest patch so far only caused 1 SOD after 3 days used.

If you tired of the MIUI sluggish performance, you may give this ROM a shoot

I am currently thinking to buy mi4i...but looking at complaints..

I don't recommend it. My wife's Mi 4i a bit temperamental. 100% stock. The performance is like a yo yo. When it behaves, everything silky smooth. But when it's not, not even a reboot can do anything. Install typical normal app only (Whatsapp, Telegram, facebook, zero game).

i changed the cable.. finally its charging. my charging cable was spoilt, and non-ori cable is not working well. but new cable from kopipeng did wonders.
