its that official build?? because im on insider build received only Windows 10 preview build 14383.
*
it is not a windows build, but rather a firmware
i wasnt on any windows preview and i received the update this morning
it should state MSFTxxxx (or something like that, it wont show any windows build version) on the update settings

Windows Central - 950 / 950XL double tap to wake

After the update, I restarted my 950XL and now it is stucked at the Windows logo for a long time. Looks like it has bricked my phone!  vmad.gif  mad.gif Anyone with the same issue?

**Update** Took out the battery and restarted the phone twice before it went back to normal...phew  sweat.gif  thumbup.gif

mine updated smoothly (touchwood), but the i noticed the higher battery drain, maybe i need to recalibrate the battery again

also you dont need to take out battery to "soft reset" the phone everytime, hold the power button + vol down for around 10 secs and the phone will vibrate then it will auto restart

Hi,

I've got a problem with my 950XL. Lately it seems to restart and hang (non responsive, completely dark screen) quite often, which requires me to either reset using keys or to take out the battery. Sometimes when it happens, the phone becomes really hot as if doing a lot of work, but it is non responsive.

I have updated it recently, as well as all of my apps.

Can somebody help me to solve this problem?

i experienced this issue lately.
using phone, then the phone would suddenly goes black screen, sometime when double tap it will show lockscreen for around 1 sec then goes black
when this happens, i need hold the power button more than 10 sec to force restart.
sometimes my phone would also randomly restarts, still trying to find the source of the issue.

I have perform hard reset (using about --> reset), now i'm thinking of flashing the phone using computer.
else i might consider sending back for warranty.

any of you guys solved your issue?

Hey kayk,

I sent it to Microsoft 2 weeks ago. They checked, and found out the motherboard got problem. Fortunately still under warranty. Prob is, up until now the spare mb has not arrived, so i'm still stuck with my backup phone (a 1020, which has a dying battery as well).

If resetting to factory does not solve the prob, it might be the hardware.

sorry to hear that.

I have just hard reset using button combination instead of via "About" screen, and see how it goes.

if the problem persisted, guess i need to sent to service center as well.

Did you sent yours to Amcorp Mall?

Same. They change the motheboard already... But the problem still there. I think the issue is the software.

Give up. I ended buying new andriod phone...

i went to sunway MS shop last thursday, they cant help me sent to service center in Amcorp Mall as they said they are closing month end, so they are afraid that i wont be able to do tracking once they are no longer there.

hmm.gif
two units changed MB but the issue persisted, that's strange
but i do realised something, i usually encounter the random reboot issue when battery is around less than 50%, i suspect is the battery, called the Amcorp Mall service center but they dont have stock for the battery sad.gif

so for now, i will try to keep the battery above 50% to see if the problem goes away

if the issue remains, then i most likely RMA it then sell it off

i just give the Amcorp mall service center a call, apparently they are not going to order any batteries unless i bring the phone to the service center and log a case and passing the phone to them. then only they will order the battery. mad.gif

if i'm not mistaken, i dont think battery can be sent through plane, so most probably it will take 2 - 4 weeks just for the battery to arrive.

seriously, whats the point of having removable battery while you cant purchase it on the store front (or at the very least the service center, without having to order) and need to log a case with service center before you can get to purchase a new battery?
Not to mention, i wont be able to use the phone after submitting it to the service and need to pay for the new battery (as the battery warranty is only 6 months). And need to apply leave to go to the service center as it is not open on weekends.

as much i like Windows 10, this will most likely be my last MS windows phone unless the after sales service over here improve.

For some models, they do provide temporary replacement phone till you get your cell back...do check with them
*
i did ask them if they provide a loan unit for temporary use, but the staff who answer my phone said no.

edit: i will try searching through trade zone if there are any other 3rd party who can help to source original battery.

I already tried that before deciding to drop by to the service center. even remove the microSD card (mine only 32GB Samsung brand).
- flash using WDRT, and even use the phone with pre-anniversary update.
But it still "shut down" or random reboots whenever the phone feels like it

I am most certainly sure that my issue is caused by the battery. The battery is slightly bulged and my issues usually arises when power is below 50%, is like there's not enough power to operate the phone.
Whenever i'm plug in, via computer USB or the original charger, i didn't experience the issue.

This is the first phone that i use which the battery kaput in less than a year.
I been using 920 for almost 14 months, then 1520 which i been using for around 16 months.

I know MS exiting the consumer market and waiting for the next "big thing" but at least provide a decent service to existing customers, and waiting 2-3 months for a battery replacement is not really a good experience.

Now I don't really know what to do with the phone, get another phone and sell the 950 XL or wait for the battery.
What if I didn't use the phone for a couple of months and when i start to use it with the new battery replacement other problems arise due too long didn't use the phone? bangwall.gif bangwall.gif

You charge your 950XL frequently via car charging port ?  hmm.gif
*
nope, only charged using the USB cable that comes with it, and the original charger
i usually charge in the morning around 6am, and unplug at around 7.30am

I see - I believe the bulging battery is a telltale sign -- I think the local service should be able to order the battery .. but it sucks they need to keep your phone when ordering it.

This is a similar case to yours:
http://forums.windowscentral.com/microsoft...umia-950xl.html

About getting another phone - was just wondering the same thing after thinking about what happens when the Microsoft store stops supplying apps and updates to Windows mobile - like whatsapp, etc. At this point, I was looking at the Sony xperia XZ just released - which looks so much like a Lumia - the 735 to be exact - with new snapdragon... very tempting.. but I really like the 950XL large amoled..
*
luckily i dont need to leave my phone there, but then i also cannot use the since the battery is already "buldged"
whatsapp is still ok in windows 10 mobile, i even like the whatsapp UI in windows 10 mobile more than iOS or android.
i dont really use that much apps, so as long as i have the essentials apps i need.
i'm going to miss the 950 XL camera, especially the camera app UI

one thing for sure, i will now think twice about getting "not-so-hot" devices, to avoid this kind of issue
even if MS announce a super surface phone on Oct 26, i might not get it unless their after sales service improves
