QUOTE(Sypher @ Mar 28 2016, 04:43 PM) Hi guys, I'm doing second last semester for B.C.S for Games Development, I pretty much got done with all the hard stuff already and kicked forward my schedule for all the goyang kaki subjects. (Co-co, Internship, Malaysian Studies, and etc.) I joined in March 2013. Better for them to realize you have to take 1 more subject (which you already set in your mind you have to regardless of the subject title or module content) than for them to tell you later on you can't graduate because of 1 university subject. Not even core subject, university subject. Try imagining how silly one would feel to not be able to graduate because of that.So now, my issue is, in my original course structure for March 2013, I had to take Malaysian Studies, but now when I check my academic requirements subject list, it says I do not need to take Malaysian Studies. Originally, I planned to take all 4 leftover subjects, but now in my OCMS, it says I only require 3. And the total credit hours do check out if I add only those 3 subjects. I also noticed that the later course structures past mine, no longer has Malaysian Studies in their lists. Instead they have 'TITAS' and 'Hubungan Etnik.' Have I somehow been luckily exempted from taking the Malaysian Studies subject? I also scared to raise question to the staff, because they might realize, and make me have to take another subject to replace the slot. Should I just keep this quiet? Right now for credit hours it says: Units: 123.00 required, 108.00 taken, 15.00 needed My leftover subjects: Co-co is 2 credit hours Internship (Doing this semester) is 6 hours Operating Systems is 4 hours Elective Subject is 4 hours Total hours if included subjects above is: 124 credit hours Any help would be appreciated. And since to apply graduation now is fully online, won't I just have to go through my OCMS academic requirements, and check that it's complete? And if I do just these 3 subjects, it should be considered complete. Thanks |

QUOTE(Sypher @ Mar 28 2016, 04:51 PM) I do understand, but I was also weighing the pros of being able to miss out on the subject. Only 3 subjects load in the next semester, and also don't have to pay 1.5k+ fees. Haha. But the risks are clear. So I should just communicate with my faculty and clear it out la right? Maybe the exemption wasn't a mistake somehow. (Oh please god.) The con outweighs the pro on any given day for this haha. The risk is not worth it bro. Yeah just clarify with your faculty. At least you get a sense of relief knowing for certain it is this or that. |

QUOTE(lohyuheng @ Apr 4 2016, 12:47 PM) Hi, April intake 2016 here, how to calculate the attendance? I'm assuming 2 classes per week so 14 in total for the semester. You said you will be missing 3 classes so you're left with 11 out of 14 which will be below 80%. If three per week, you do the maths. As long as at the end of the semester, if it is 80% or above, no one has reason to bar you.Actually I'll be away from this Friday to next Thursday, which means I'll be missing 3 class of Essential English. That's one week of classes. Just now I asked the lecturer and she said she can't accept it because I can only miss 2 classes or else you will be barred. There are 7 weeks in this trimester. I'll be missing 1 week that means my attendance will be 6/7 which is still above 80%. Why did she not allow it It's all about the risk you're willing to take that is all. |

QUOTE(lohyuheng @ Apr 4 2016, 01:27 PM) Its 3 classes per week for this subject (Essential English). So 7×3=21 class total in this semester for this subject. I'll be missing 3 so 18/21 that's ~85%. I've never asked for permission to not come to lectures. Lol. It's neither school nor work. As long as you can ensure your attendance % will meet the requirement, no one minds. Let alone going to meet the lecturer and start and argument over it. Later from being under the radar, you will be on top of the watch list.Pls correct me if I am wrong a not before I go argue with her this Wednesday agn Edit: if this isn't going to work out, a >RM 1000 of plane ticket will loss This was planned months ago. Didn't know the class will commenced this quick. Just remember to check the academic calendar properly before you plan your next holiday in the future. |

Previously no one would expect to see this sort of comment about the hostels. |

QUOTE(Melonie Queen @ Apr 5 2016, 03:56 PM) is it that bad ? actually i heard that the hostel is no longer under mmu , they have change the hostel system ,and now is under bigphase hostel management . the renovation did a pretty good job i think but really lack of food stall . According to the majority of MMU students staying in the hostels it was THAT bad. But then again, it could be those majority are sons and daughters of wealthy dads so they have never had to leave the comforts of their home up until tertiary level so they can only compare the environment to their home or 5-star hotels |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 5 2016, 04:04 PM) Read from Fb that it was for hostels by the new hostel management I assume this is about the 10Mbps line? After this students will start asking if they can install UniFi/Time Broadband on their own in the hostels with the kind of rates management are handing out |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 6 2016, 01:35 PM) From what i hear, internet is shitty because of too many 'unnecessary' activities which affected other students. So with this new thingy, you want high internet for your own activity, pay up and dont hog the line. But to be fair, they should also implement a cap right? Can't punish all for the fault of some. If they can implement variable speed based on port they should be able to monitor usage at individual port level. Think of it this way; same fees, previously you get to enjoy 10Mbps, now you have to fork out few hundreds more. On what grounds? On the grounds that other people hog the line. From what I see, the direction taken shows this is more of a business oriented decision. |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 6 2016, 05:27 PM) not my say whether it is fair or not as I am not affected. what is the max speed without charges? once anything is outsourced, it becomes a business venture dy..so the company will sure want to reap profits..so students who are affected need to raise a complaint. At the same time, they need to ensure that they dont hog the line for their activities. Which is why the bare minimum which should've been taken care of is the same infra as before should remain. Anything extra should be the one that is subject to the premium package being offered. From this itself it can be deduced that the fairness factor isn't there. |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 6 2016, 06:03 PM) what is the min speed without charge? i would like to know what are the infrastructures that the company has installed to warrant the charges I think this question onlysam would be able to answer since he said now is like crap so he must have a previous baseline he used to compare haha I've only stayed in the hostel during the 2nd last semester for like 3 days a week when I had to travel back and forth between Cyberjaya-Melaka campus. Just used the connection for normal surfing so I didn't feel it was bad then. I even used my Macbook to tether the line as my phone reception was lousy This post has been edited by Rhadykall: Apr 6 2016, 06:19 PM |
