Next trimester will have to register ownself. How's the first week?  brows.gif

Ok that's a nice thing then. First week pretty good I'd say, have some pretty boring and lame lecturers as well as interesting ones. Overall I'd say I'm glad I chose MMU despite it not being so popular among my circle of friends. rclxm9.gif

I have another question, are the exam barrings for not having 80% attendance carried out strictly? Or is it okay to say maybe have a 70% attendance? Is it carried out automatically or do the lecturers choose who to bar? I plan to skip maybe 1-2 weeks of classes for CNY, which according to my calculations puts my attendance at a bare minimum to achieve 80%, but I'm afraid that if I have any emergencies and need to skip class for whatever reason it may drop below 80%.

Depends on the lecturer. Fyi, barring policy states all lecturers are strictly required to exercise the barring practice. Lecturer will have the option to bar or unbar.

Skip 2 weeks for CNY? The sooner you forget about long holidays for CNY the better  innocent.gif

If say I do somehow get only 70% attendance, and the lecturer barred me, does it mean I have no way out other than to retake??

Do long CNY breaks really don't exist in MMU? cry.gif cry.gif
Not even 1 week?

You can appeal to dean's office

Usually you can arrange with the lecturers. No harm to ask.

Guess I'll ask in the future, don't think it'll make a good impression to ask for holidays on week 1 laugh.gif

Are they all core/electives subjects? Any MPU? Any killer subjects?

4 core/electives + 1 MPU is the norm
Or if there is no killer ones, 5 core/electives are still okay

Depends on you to decide whether you can carry them or not

I'm currently following the plan from the school and I have 4 subjects for my first year first sem. Will it be increased to 5 in the future or those are optional for people who wants to graduate faster? Also do MPU scores contributes to our CGPA?

Any idea where we can make complaints on the facilities in the campus? The male toilet at 1st floor in FCI has wet and leaky ceiling for a long while now. Could be a health hazard with all those mold growing on it.

Still online learning mode for Tri 2, but with few exceptions. New intakes can decide to come to campus or online learning.

At this point it's clear to all of us that MMU is doing this solely for MMU's pocket and does not have the students in mind at all.

Online class during MCO? That's great, well done on MMU's part (although by now everyone's doing it so I guess it's nothing special)
Extend online class when MOHE didn't give any instructions for reopening? Sure.
Extend online class after MOHE announce reopening date, since it will be troublesome for students to move in halfway during the semester? Sure makes sense.
Extend online class until March 2021 when many universities are already starting their physical classes next month? We all know what's going on.

I am not sure how is the financial status of the university, but I'm guessing it's not good especially after the hike in student activity fees stunt they pulled not long ago. This MCO just gave them an opportunity to finally earn more money and it's a perfect time for them since the students can't protest this time icon_idea.gif . Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not 100% sure how they are benefiting from this, but I'm guessing they are saving a lot of money in facilities, and now they don't have to spend extra money on facilities needed to enforce/implement SOP when students are back in full.

As for the willingness for students to come back to campus, if I'm not mistaken the university conducted a survey regarding the students' readiness to return to campus, why didn't the university publish the result alongside with the announcement of extension of online classes?

Some may argue that we are mostly doing IT or multimedia related course so there is no need for us to be there in person to perform properly, but what about the soft skills and every other skills we need when we start our work life? Yes asking questions in Google Meet is way easier that asking in a lecture hall with hundreds of eyes looking at you, but when we enter work life, are we going to text the boss during a meeting to ask questions? If MMU were to proceed with the plan to extend online class until March 2021, that's 1 year of our student life gone, 33% of our degree course. 1 whole year of opportunity to learn something new lost.

Above is just one of the problem associated with online class. Depression issue, team collaboration, communication with staffs/lecturers/peers and many more which MMU should take into consideration.

To sum it all up, I believe MMU owe us at least an explanation as of why we can't yet return to campus despite the government already announced that physical classes can be started. The only explanation given was "after considering views from all aspects" which we can all agree that is not enough.

PS Despite everything I said above I personally don't actually mind having online class. Attending lectures on my bed, having my lunch infront of pc, is a privilege I don't mind keeping. If given a choice I would choose to continue with the online learning, but I'm saying this for others who actually prefer or need the physical classes to happen.
