anyone manage to get Blackberry Priv from Celcom?
This morning I went to Celcom asking for Priv plan and they said they are currently out of stock and they already stop selling the Priv for reason that they don't want to buy in stock for sale.

Then followed by saying they will have start Samsung S7E and able to get the device by end of this month.

It became a unique phone. When you play with the phone in the public, everyone will look at your phone. The main problem is, cannot bare the overheating !
*
I thought the overheating issue was gone after several updates since the launch?
Is it still happening ? Cos if that's the case then won't the battery get depleted so fast?

Guess I will get the device from T&L Telecom that's from Hong Kong. Anyone have any experience with them before?

T&L Telecom have their base in KL. Yes, they are trusted. Most of the LG V10 user here at forum lowyat community buy from them.
*
Glad to know that. I just hope that with current batch production of Priv will have no more production issue.

That article was made last December only few weeks after the launch. Today, it has been 4-5months and the Priv has received a lot of updates ever since. Don't own 1, but reading Priv forums, they're saying like after all those updates, their Priv is now behaving...
*
True, the problems with those reviews are all solely done on initial release of the phones and not much follow up reviews after the updates.

I also read from the forum that Priv's is working very stable after couples of updates.

so many people are buying from T&L
i noticed that this T&L is selling ipad too at lazada, even cheaper than apple store. the con is that you have to wait like 2-3 weeks for the shipping (item ships from hong kong).
*
Yeah, the reason that I'm getting the phone from them is that their price is so much lower than Malaysia price by nearly 1K, which is the actual price in every countries BUT MALAYSIA.

Besides, I read the review that it seems most order will be arrived in 3 - 5 days depending location. So, let's hope by next week I will get the phone then.

Just got my phone at 4pm just now.
Still doing the set up.

A little bit weird for the purchase from TL Telecom, as the box of my phone stated the phone is for "REGIONAL MALAYSIA"... where I remembered read from their page, they mentioned that their unit are supposed to be UK unit.
Even the wall charger given inside the box is 3-pin like Malaysia wall socket. And the date of packaging was on 1st week December 2015.

So, I'm wondering if there is anyway like certain service code to key in to check the usage of the phone?

Please advise.
Thanks

If it is MY set even better, means you might be able to acquire local warranty. No?  cool2.gif

Onto the verification, perhaps you can check through the IMEI of your phone. I am not so sure.
*
Yeah, I hope so.
Just that I didn't see the Brightstar warranty card within so also cannot be sure how they going to verify which warranty to be applied should one need it (touch wood).
So far the phone sure get hottie when doing whole bunch of updates since it is December device. Let's hope the heat issue will be less after getting everything set up.

on side note, does the battery charge indicator edge will dim when it sense total darkness?

How did you get to update to MM ?
What's your model number, STV100-3?

Just checked mine, still no new update.
*
I believe that's the beta program that user has to signed up in order to try out the MM update.
However, given that BB has hinted the release of the official will fall on early May, I would rather wait for the official updates. Won't want to take any risk to my daily driver at the moment.

How do we apply for this beta version if you don't mind sharing? I was thinking of swapping my iPhone 6 to Priv but I just afraid I regret it in the end.
*
What is the aspect that you value most on iPhone 6 first?
If camera is one important aspect, then you probably need to keep your iPhone 6.
Not to say Priv's camera is not good, actually it can takes fairly decent photos when in good lighting condition, however when it comes to actual shutter moment and focus, iPhone does the better job here.

And for the reviews that you read or view online, those reviews are quite outdated already, as at the time of their review, there hadn't been much updates to the phone itself.
Trust me, when you first get the phone you will definitely feel that performance on the phone out of the box is not satisfying, but when you installed all of the updates on the Priv, then you will enjoy using the phone like I do.

To me, it is the HUB experience that is useful for me as I need fast peek to all the messages in just one unified inbox and HUB nails it quite good (not up to the standard of HUB on BBOS 10 still).

Secondly, the keyboard, some may like it some don't as the touchscreen keyboard now has really improved, but i still like the feel of typing on physical keyboard as opposed to the touchscreen. With Priv, you get to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Hope this will help in making your decision.

What I valued most on my iPhone 6plus is the batt life. I text and surf fb ig and 9gag really frequently and after using the iPhone 6plus I barely had any issues having to carry a power bank...apart from that, I play lots of games too. I have this game called dawn of Titans. I have a really smooth experience on my 6plus and when my friend played on his note 5, it's sluggish and laggy in terms of graphic and gameplay. I used to own a q5 which runs the bbos 10 and I would say I miss the hub and the keyboard. I finally went to 6plus because I can't stand the available apps provided by bb world. Since this is on an android platform, I thought this would be a good chance for me to enjoy the bb again with the concern of limited app fixed. But my only doubt of switching over remains on performance on running apps and also heat issue which I heard a lot from the videos on YouTube.
*
I see. Priv's battery has improved quite a lot since the updates but still I doubt it is on par with iPhone 6Plus yet, i would say it is about 80% to what iPhone 6 Plus can get. Though for my daily usage that has 4 emails with push syncing, 2 hours of on screen time browsing or reading comics, half an hour call etc, I still manage to have about 58% last night around 11PM since i unplugged 530AM. So I would say Priv has fairly enough power for my usage pattern.

As for the mobile gaming, i can't say much as i seldom play mobile game but from my past experience, I would say most of the time for the same apps or games on both platform, iOS version will 99% excel than Android version.
Maybe it is due to OS Optimization or simply because there are too many fragments in Android so the coding on Android is not as optimized as iOS.

It is announced that official MM updates will be released starting 3rd May. So it is better for you to wait for official updates instead.

Not sure if you guys having this issue, after I got a minor update on my Priv (not MM) my edge battery status is not showing anymore even though in the settings it is clearly stated on. Any feedback on this?
*
Does this issue happen all the time? Or just occasionally?
The Edge bar will not show if it detects the lighting in the room is dim or completely dark, while in well lit room, then it will shows the bar. And it won't always be there though, i think it is to prevent the burnt image on the phone.

Where can i get quality tempered glass in kl city centre?desparately in need of getting d sp or tp glass for this beauty...
*
I got mine form Ebay, brand SIKAI (quite recommended by folks in Crackberry forum there).

Other than that, I think you can find some tempered glass protector in Lelong and lowyat garage sales forum there.

which tempered glass are you all using?
*
I'm using SIKAI screen protector, bought from ebay.

I would say the naked screen feel and look the best to be honest, but still an extra protection to this expensive gadget is definitely worth the trade-off.

Now i'm waiting for my case to arrive.

is your SIKAI a "3D" screen protector or "3D" tempered glass? yes it is an expensive gadget.
mine still pending to gdex  sweat.gif placed order on 9th night time, still unable to track the shipping.
*
it is Tempered Glass, but you don't feel like one when it is applied. I don't know why but my friend who sells phone said it is indeed Glass.

As for the camera, i would say the photo quality is quite good, but the camera experience / performance is the reason where it loses competition to other brand, but still for most of the shots especially still image then it will work very fine. Don't worry about the image quality.

My initial 3-4 hours impression:

1. Phone is very warm in use. Especially during charging n app install. I must say is possibly the warmest phone I had used past 6 months
I read MM had reduced the warmness ? Cannot imagine it under Lollipop. 40-45 degree C battery temperature is common. I can really feel the warmness on my palms

2. App install is the slowest amongst all the phones t I had used past 6 months. It is horribly slow . Most app took about 2-3 times longer vs say my other SD808 phone LG V10

3. App loading luckily is quite speedy

4. Tested rear camera briefly - very slight delay in snapping but I deemed still acceptable. Pictures quality above average

5 I really love the hard keyboard n had little problems using it. Well with more usage I will improve
*
It is normal to get real warming in first few days as the phone is busy downloading and settling down with all sorts of application stuff, i think part of the reason to the warmth is due to the material they used for the back plate, it feels like the heat take longer time to go off.
And yes, the MM update does help in reducing heat quite significantly, at least now the hottest part i mostly feel are on the sides of the phone.

As for the apps installation, i think it is because Blackberry opt to have the higher encryption level on every layer of access to the phone and that's why it takes longer time to get installed. I guess this is the compromise that one have to bear for the extra security the phone offers.

maybe because of the price thats almost as mahal as iphone they expect a better build?
saw some ppl mention that over night about 10% will be drain on lolipop,
i'm glad that BB updates as frequently as RN3P  rclxms.gif maybe its because of SD processors only.
erm something like this?

mind telling how much you paid for the tempered glass?
glad to hear that the photo quality is quite good  sweat.gif
i have shaky hands thats why im worried that its not compatible with my hands  biggrin.gif
phone still pending, "Please try again later, we are awaiting for tracking info from carrier." rclxub.gif

This is the one I bought.

Are you buying from TL Telekom? If that's the case, the tracking will only shows when the device reached Malaysia. Usually 3 -4 workings days depends on your location, mine was 7 working days as I'm in Sarawak.

Few days using this Priv and overall I am quite happy with it
I supposed most of the negative reviews were based on earlier firmware and not Marshmallow
On the web reviews are mixed with some even declaring it one of Android worst phone ??
My only grouse is its operating temperature which is warmer by 2-3 degree C vs my other Androids
*
Indeed. Most of the reviews online that give bad ratings are mostly reviewed based on the initial release of the phones.

While if you have a look to the review of the actual users of this phone as daily drivers, most of them are very happy and satisfied with each updates provided to the phone.

I just hope that BlackBerry can keep up with this updates effort even after the 2 rumored phone are release later this year.

If they can do so, then I can foresee that my next phone will probably be still BlackBerry device.

Loving the keyboard so much, but wish it was 4 rows instead. The trackpad quite useful for scrolling. Only. Problem is the battery life,  coming from lenovo P780
And the camera quality not bad too.

You should give it a few days for the system to get settled with the software updated. I usually can get it last for 18 to 24 hours with normal usage, and even stretching to 40+ over hours with minimal usage.
