QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Sep 18 2015, 04:05 PM)
I remembered reading somewhere that the 'teeth-to-tail ratio' (the ratio of soldiers who do secondary work like logistics support or intelligence duties vs soldiers who are actually fighting on the front lines) in the US military is so massive, it was speculated that only 30% of the US military are front-line soldiers.

Wonder if this is true?  hmm.gif

QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Sep 18 2015, 04:28 PM)
not surprising... with modern weaponry there's firepower multiplier.. that's why PLA is reducing manpower and focusing more on tech.. fine example is israel, matching both manpower and machinery...

huh... i thought saudi is with the yemeni army and the iranians are with the houti rebels?
*
The Houthis are the yemeni army tongue.gif
They pulled off a coup de tat to overthrow the President who came into power after the previous President was overthrown during the Arab Spring.

The Yemeni loyalist fighting with the Sauds are the ones loyaled to the former president.

why most of the times they will send out the Hinds and not the Mi-28 Havoc or Kamov Ka-52 Alligator?  hmm.gif
changing topic, has anyone watched Bravo 5? reviews anyone? Polis Evo seem to have steal all the glory
*
probably the latter 2 were more of a tank hunter while the hind was more like a mujaheddin muncher

not really, this is also a problem with the engine performance.
not enough lift to fly over mountains.
previously, they operate Hinds and Hips, which are heavier classes of choppas

sad news sad we going to buy too.. shocking.gif

we are flying around Sabah coast, so no issue.
The Afghans are practically circling the himalayas with it.

Air pressure it too low for their operational.

most light choppers are underpowered for high altitude operations, while we're basically flying them at sea level...so yea.

maybe send reservist to take over regular's position in the motherland or basically relying on conscripts to do the duty ?

either way, i'm more interested in what Putin is getting in return for support for Assad,
oil rights? trade deals? infrastructure projects?

Why are there so many talks about the caspian sea ships after that few cruise missile strikes when there are only 4 nations around it.
It has no access to an actual sea anywhere and there are no fleets there, just a flotila.

layman would not see a prob... but if you look from diff aspect a lot of diff... legally allowed? any conflict of interest? are they well trained for law enforcement? command structure? what's the reason? will allow for coup? ... etc etc

dont want to have ragtag military and law enforcement agency like peenoise marine recon sent to become coast guard, msian police sent to fight sulu, indon police go fight fire/indon navy go take over customs duty, pla sent to quell riot... etc etc

still havent found pictures of that rumored crash Mig 29.
and I was sad the ruskies didnt bring MiGs to Syria.

at this point, im taking everything coming out with a bowl of salt, considering how much they like to be first to post, rather than first to be accurate.
these "newspapers" keep using the term unconfirmed or claim all the day, plus the photo linked was from Twitter and was removed
