QUOTE(MyPIA @ Oct 19 2015, 01:04 PM) RM20 for voice addon Thanks for the info. I am facing this weird issue using RG4332 router with 30Mbps subscription.Yes, Basic Aneka or Varnam pack is included in RM179 price For 30Mb/s can confirm get full speed They will do the upgrade but they'll charge you for the router replacement It is basic (1 month current + 1 month advance) Better apply through agent as they (me) provide one month cash rebate so the total is 1 month only Which router are you using ? Near to router - Speedtest show ard 28Mbps Wifi with 3 bar signal - Ard 15Mbps Wifi with 2 bar signal - Ard 6 to 7 Mbps Will upgrading to another router help? |

QUOTE(emy_xvidia @ Oct 19 2015, 02:18 PM) Asus RT-AC87U. For a two-storey house, this one is enough without the need to use any repeater or bridge for the 1st floor. even outside of my car porch also signal is full. Thanks bro for the info. :).so if you dont get full speed on your wifi connection just change the router to a good one. TM never guarantees Wifi connection speed anyway. |

Does anyone use Asus RT-N18U as Unifi Router replacement? Is the coverage and performance for this router good?

QUOTE(^Ware^wolf @ Oct 21 2015, 03:39 PM) i m having the same question as well.currently im using RT-N12 , and i find out that RT-N18U have "download master" feature , where i can BT using the router and usb drive only .... is this feature stable ? i dont need 3g/4g usb modem feature on RT-N18U. I am currently using stock router (Innatech RG4332) and only manage to get 1 bar at the end of the room which only give me around 1 to 2 Mbps out of 30Mbps. Living in condo ard 1500 sqft. I have check with wifi analyzer and the most is about 4 to 5 other wireless interference. Don't know whether upgrading to RT-N18U helps out? my apartment only 1200sf with 3rooms ...plenty of wifi connection around my block , i can detect like 8wifi SSID any cheaper solution for asus router ? |

QUOTE(Khalid21 @ Oct 22 2015, 08:55 AM) Just decided and bought Asus RT-N18U for Unifi 30 :) . Cheaper version of AC66U with similar specs but the downside is only supporting single 2.4Ghz and not the dual band (2.4 + 5 Ghz) or AC protocol. There is a lot of growing review for RT-N18U in term of performance and coverage. |

QUOTE(Irfan2397 @ Oct 28 2015, 02:08 PM) Any suggestion for good router that signal can go far.Currently using TP Link router and very frustrated with the performance.Max speed i could get from my subscribe 30mb speeds is <10mb. Would suggest asus rt-n18u. Previously using stock innatech router and would only get about 10mbps with 2 bar signal strength but with strong signal, it can get full speed. after changing to this router, speed does not decrease when it goes 2 bar. |

QUOTE(Irfan2397 @ Oct 28 2015, 04:29 PM) The tech team come over to my house just now. They suggest me to look for Asus RT66U because that router has 3 antena That is also a good model if no money constraint. asus rt-n18u have 3 antenna too but the downside is that the router only support Single Band 2.4Ghz and not the latest dual band nor AC protocol. |

QUOTE(Irfan2397 @ Oct 28 2015, 05:32 PM) Single band or dual band is using N wireless and it is not a problem even for current unifi 50mbps speed. The difference is between band. 2.4 Ghz is quite congested (ie basic router, microwave etc all using this band) while 5ghz (dual band) is less congested and bigger bandwidth. Let assume both band no inteference, then both should be able to provide maximum speed that you subscribed and in fact, 2.4ghz is better alternative as narrowband distance is further. To check whether there is any interference, there is a good app (wifi analyser) which will show wifi activity nearby and which channel that they are using. On the ac technology, the protocol just come out so not much hardware can support now. The only reason now to bought ac router is for future proof. |

And that is only protocol. Router characteristic will determine how much user can stream without causing lag. Example is that unifi stock router only have 16mb ram while rt-n18u have 256mb ram which will help out on buffering the data and minimize the lag. Of course there will be alot of consideration ie chipset use, ram size, flash size, processor speed etc. The best tools to determine good router is through review. To check whether there is any interference, there is a good app (wifi analyser) which will show wifi activity nearby and which channel that they are using. On the ac technology, the protocol just come out so not much hardware can support now. The only reason now to bought ac router is for future proof. |
