anyone else using unifi 30mbps ? what kinda of speeds are you seeing when torrent :/ ?

for me i notice foreign sources, but the speed will only max out at tops 2MB/s rather than 3.75 MB/s

thats roughly 60 ish% of total download speed for 30mbps for international sources :{

is anyone getting a different result ? Not sure if i should complain to tmnut ..... (they normally only bother about local speed -.-; )

so effectively i'm only just getting a little bit more than 1.2MB/s from my previous 10mbps, but upload down from 10mbps to 5mbps.

from my logs for 1 torrent download you can see precisely where my download maxes out. i even conveniently highlighted it in a red box sad.gif
user posted image

I also checked my tixati torrent client to see what countries the peers were from. none of them were locally malaysian or singaporean. so truly international peers hmm.gif

torrent is well seeded, so i doubt that is the issue rolleyes.gif

other than torrent speed issue, my second issue is with gaming latency. normally i'd get 200ms-230ms to the US which was fine for me. but lately it's been quite slow, 300ms+ spiking up to 1k ms..... this is very unplayable in Diablo 3, as in worse case i'm usually lagging 20 seconds behind whats actually happening in game. So you can imagine how bad that is while doing grift 63s..... i just could not keep up with the group cause i kept dying because i could not see what was going on in real time X_X:

this latency issue tends to occur sometime around late evening... it gets pronounced around this period shakehead.gif

TM claims they never throttle youtube

[attachmentid=4951009]

Then why speedtest still can get 30mbps but youtube buffering is as slow as a snail?
*
from my own real world testing, youtubr 1080p @ 60 fps video takes little time to cache, and play. doesn't stutter while waiting on loading more content in cache, so it plays smoothly. even when fast forward timeline it caches in the same quick amount of time by few seconds only. This is definitely better than before on 10mbps where using the same quality settings, it would stutter because the download could not keep up to keep a smooth viewing experience.

as such for youtube i don't have an issue doh.gif

haven't tested for 4k reso netflix :/ but i don't have 4k monitor so .... lel

Moogle, you're using copper or fiber?
What's your latency to D3 servers?
*
ftth fiber ;x not vdsl unifi.

QUOTE(christina1 @ Sep 16 2015, 08:44 AM)
How much u paying for it ? Did you take jumbo pack ? Did they offer you TM to TM free calls?
*
paying same price as 10mbps package before.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 16 2015, 09:52 AM)
i usually get max 3.6MBps.

foreign sources.

wifi 50ft.

asus router.

pc windows 8.1.
*
then if like this, there should be no reason why i am hard capped to 15mbps rather than 30mbps for international. guess i'll lodge a complaint then :/ I'll run a few more tests first just in case...

QUOTE(biloxee @ Sep 16 2015, 11:33 AM)
TM does have FUP.
So, if you download like mad (esp during peak hours) until they notice you, who knows...

FTP...
[attachmentid=4953120]
*
apparently that may be the case for me sad.gif

i checked 2 servers, both under 5mbps download speed... despite having a 30mbps subscription. the only thing they manage to do right is downgrade my upload to under 5mbps down from 10mbps ....

user posted image

what kind of service is this ?

and thats now even counting the bad latency... i can't play diablo 3 at all..
*
can someone advise the mcmc link, and other relevant info to lodge a report .... my speed is so subpar....

even in the best of conditions i haven't seen my internet go beyond 2 Mb/s and then when doing test i score under 5mbps !

and not to mention latency which is beyond usable for gaming. mission impossible.

at least with my previous 10mbps i got 80% most of the time and no latency issues. only now i get both issues in 30mbps package .... wtf

Man... I feel cheated. Didn't cross my mind to ask about upload speed when TM guy called to offer upgrade to 30 Mbps. When I received their upgrade confirmation e-mail only then I realized that my upload limit had been downgraded.

Now after upgrade ANY video streaming sites I tried is so terrible. Luckiest I get is just 480p at YouTube. Mostly 360p or less. Just tried another video streaming site I sometimes visited, their lowest is 360p and it's not streaming smoothly. I can only reach 1080p on YouTube only "sometimes" just after upgrade and after one week I get quality like below where I just captured just now???

[attachmentid=4959199]

I don't fully trust speed test with all those technologies running in the background. Each connection may most likely be "managed" at TM side.

Is it possible to downgrade back to my previous package because the new package can't deliver the same experience as my previous package?
*
eh... well it's obvious dl/ul you look at that before you subscribe :/

though to be fair maybe when they mention 30mbps, they ought to have clarified 5 mbps upload. even i was caught off guard when i just learned of this package and assumed dl/ul were the same speed.

that said, sounds like your issue is to do with download speed, not upload ....

if you meant you yourself are streaming to say twitch, using obs or similar, then yes upload matters. but if your merely watching other peoples streams, then only download matters. I assume your referencing a download streaming situation :/

anyway issues with 30mbps for me is the dl speed is not really 30mbps. i my own tests i'm getting under 5mbps, and only in best case scenarios only under 15mbps, which is still markedly slower than the full 30mbps i'm subscribed for. normally you'd be able to expect 70-80% of your subscribed speed, which i'm not even getting, so that is a real problem.

Ontop of the worse latency in the recent weeks. And i hear from other users, packet loss hmm.gif

I am not sure why most of you have video streaming problems with Unifi.

I am currently on VIP5 and I have absolutely no problems streaming Youtube 1080p videos.

Probably I am using IPv6 on OpenDNS.

Here is my speedtest result 10 minutes ago.

i'm using google ipv6 dns.

maybe i can try opendns see if there is any change hmm.gif

181ms is quite good. normally i'd expect 200-230ms on a normal day. maybe switching from googledns to opendns is better then ?

but the 18mbps falls far too short from 30mbps .... or even a 80% of that....

and i'm pretty sure if i ran the same test late in the evening the speed will drop down to under 5mbps ....

so far are you satisfied with ur 30mbps compare to previous 10mbps ?

nope cause i'm not getting the minimum of 80% of 30mbps dl speed.

not to mention during times of the day, the internet speed goes to a crawl. never happened to me back when i was on 10mbps ...

What is the url for US server?

in speedtest you can select the server location.

normally i'd pick western us because the AAG landing point is situated there. cause that would be the fastest possible to US doh.gif compared to us east coast i would think.

technically hawaii would be fastest because it reaches there before the mainland laugh.gif

well i did a recent torrent test, got the 30mbps. so still monitoring torrenting performance, though i'd really need a torrent with only foreign ips only to make a clear cut call on that smile.gif

latency for gaming need to wait a few weeks :/ but today last i checked didn't seem as bad as it was before.

Again, this is on a supposedly '30mbps' package. I stay in Petaling Jaya, Urban area... dunno what to do....
*
yeah... broadband useless if international especially to US isn't 80% of total mbps of your package.... your results show how bad this package is...

only rarely is some of the content have a local source, mostly due to peering on torrent which happens to have some local users. but most of the time its us peers.... so local speed is useless in those situations which is going to be most of the time.

youtube not smooth now. is something going on ?

prebuffering like watch 5-10 second, then it pauses to buffer for like 6 seconds, and repeats.... this is annoying...

package is 30mbps dl, but never goes beyond 20 mbps.... miscap right ? hmm.gif or are other getting a similar result to US server ?

only rare instances i get 30mbps dl is local download or peering.

Try doing a speedtest with LAN cable. It could be the WiFi that is limiting your network.

- UniFi 30 and UniFi 50 customers who pay normal price including GST but get RM20 free call
- UniFi 30 and UniFi 50 customers who pay normal price including GST but get RM20 rebates every months
- UniFi 30 and UniFi 50 customers who pay normal price including GST but get waived 1st bill bcos of doing self order.

is this special discount only for 30mbps ? or is there one for the 50mbps as well ? And is this also available if you upgrade from say 30 to 50 mbps if thats the case ?

Also anyone who already had 30mbps successfully got them to lower your monthly subscription based on this current promotion ? Can plz confirm thx.
