I just received a call from TM, offer for upgrading to 30Mbps. It will be the same amount I am paying for VIP10 (RM179). I decline the offer, after reading many negative reports. Further more, I think I am not going or able to max out 30MBps.

The operator told me if I change my mind, can call up 100 to do so. Can decide later anyway.

No issue by using vpn.

Yes, same here. VPN helps faster facebook loading during night time.

I see a lot of people asking for 30 Mbps but the reality is, TM is throttling some of the website like Facebook and Apple. It is not the issue of how much Mbps we are getting but how much bandwidth TM is giving us.

mine can fetch around 30mbps but it just fluctuate too frequent till i dont know whether im on VIP5 or 30mbps  rclxub.gif

i tried doing speedtest and sometimes it will have around 13mbps, sometimes it will be around 4-5mbps
app store still the same, but out of 10 times there's 1 or 2 times which it can load as normal  doh.gif

whats wrong actually, streamyx seems to be more stable if thats the case lol .. i've just upgraded to unifi few days ago and so many issues  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Speedtest does not show the real picture. App Store download is slow because TM throttling bandwidth for certain servers. Try VPN, you will see what I meant. I try 2 cases,

1) 6GB of Mac OS download - estimated time 3 days. After using VPN, 6 hours to complete download.

2) Restoring iphone from icloud, it took overnight could not finish. After using VPN, finish updating in 2 hours.

i see.. ok now one question all sifus sifus here..i know vpn stands for virtual private network but how do i set it up or configure it ya?  sweat.gif
thanks

Set up and configuring is depend on the VPN provider. Some is easy and some may need manual installing. There are plenty of VPN service providers. Some of VPN providers Finch VPN and Boleh VPN are malaysian based VPN. Others like surfeasy VPN, ExpressVPN, IPVanish and etc. Some allow trial. So choose your pick !

Google search lowyat forum for VPN. You will find plenty of info, of people using VPN watch netflix, torrent, gaming, security and etc.

Disclaimer : VPN is not suppose to speed up connection. Basically VPN just encrypt data from server in another country to here. YMMV.

I believe TM throttling most popular servers but not for some servers and VPN, they ignore because volume not high.

They ignore because they don know decrypt the data tongue.gif

Hopefully they do not know how to decrypt forever. As in recent news, NSA have ways to decrypt VPN by hardware. Probably now some governments and ISP will be interested to do so. Let's hope better encryption in the future.
