every month PCB deduction is almost RM2000. is it legal to negotiate with employer to split the salary into half, RM6000 as basic salary which appears in pay slip and EA form. The other RM6000 as exempt income, misc. allowances, car, petrol, house, hp, meal, etc. which will beĀ  reimbursed every month by filling up the claims form.

i see this as a win-win situation. employer pay less EPF by RM720, meaning i have less EPF savings (i don't mind as i have other types of investments). PCB difference would be RM1503, meaning paying less tax for each month. Minus RM720 initially as the EPF, i still have RM783 additional take home salary.

if there's another method, do share with me. thanks.

Not all allowances are tax exempted.

If you received HP benefits or company is paying you the bill, you need to declare back as benefit in kind (BIK) which will add into your gross taxable income as well.

The introduction of BIK years back is to close the loop hole as you mentioned.

I don't think meal, house allowances is tax exempted as well.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Simplesmile,

Yes, you can construct you wages in that kind of structure, but bare in mind, the tax allowance issue can be changing year to year, sometimes, it is kind of troublesome for company to restrucuture the salary to meet the changing rules. Company generally won't bother to change the whole system (especially for company having many employee one), as it means troublesome in acounting as well as auditing issue.

Sometimes, it is not wise to save up some on tax allowance issue by reducing the basic salary and large portion to allowance side.
Eg. previously you have 5,000 basic and no allowance. Now you want to save a bit of tax, then change it to 4,000, and lot of allowance that allowed for tax relief.

Why I said so, because if company want to retrench the employee, compensation is solely based on basic alone.

Does 'Books' section include audio books? I spend at least RM600 a year on those.

As far as I know, there is no specific details about the book issue.
As long as those are books, then it is ok.

Guys,

I've been told that if Im collecting rental for my one and only property, I do not need to include it. Is it right? The problem is that it was a shop lot and they will submit it for income tax. But can I really just leave it out?

Where got this kind of ruling?? wink.gif

Just claim..

Please do not mislead others.

You cannot say like this one, if they audit time, one will need to pay the wrongly claimed tax relief + penalty.
There is no such thing no so strict.
Either yes & no.
If the rules stated what type of relief can be claimed, then it is.
If not stated, then cannot.

At 3) i dont get what does this mean? Im employed and how to give to family employees?

4.) does church donations counted? And temple donations? Some people are donating a lot for this every month, is like RM150-200 in some cases.

And as for hire purchase, does vehicle entitled a reduction? i don't see any columns/field in the tax deduction form there. Sorry im kinda tax-idiot sad.gif

4) Only those donation that has applied for LHDN tax relief can. Other ordinary donation cannot.

No hire purchase on vehicle has no tax relief.
