updates are always released to improve the ipod's usability.
Some will help reduce power usage, some will help increase accessing speed, some will add functions to the ipod OS.. it really depends but it's 99% good for your iPod.

Don't hesitate to update your ipod's software. smile.gif

Apple makes several types of cases, check it out
- For nano 2nd gen
- For nano 1st gen

You might wanna check out google.com and search for ipod nano casing/protector.

Hope it helps icon_rolleyes.gif .

Got 2 nano n 2 shuffle in annual dinner yesterday...
Any software to recommend?
Really couldnt find a good alternative to iTunes...
iTunes helps me rename all those chinese character files but Yamipod doesnt and end up with many restart when it cant play... the bad thing about iTunes is that I cant view chinese character...

Any other alternatives?

Hi all,

I'm using this IPOD Nano 2G 2GB here and I have some questions regarding the stock earphones and the preset EQs.

Apparently, using anyone of the preset EQs would result in quite a bit of clipping and distortion with the stock earphones. This happen throughout my entire collection of mp3s. Turning the EQ off improves them tremendously but the stock earphones are pretty bad in sound reproduction in my opinion. Not that there's any configurable EQs to compensate. I understand that these are not real EQs but rather distortions carefully and purposefully introduced into the reproduction to trick the brain into thinking an EQ is applied - physco acoustics.

Anyway I tried using the EQs with better earphones, the clipping and distortion seems lesser but its still there depending on the level of music on a certain volume.

So has anyone experienced this before with their IPODs on their stock earphones? Or is it a case of too high EQs being applied? Or is it better to leave the EQ off and rely on better earphones? Are there any settings that I might mistakenly turned on that could introduce the distortion?

Well if this is a genuine problem with my IPOD I might want to send it in for a checkup. But anyway, I'm getting a pair Sennheiser CX300 to better complement the IPOD. Any comments?

Thank you for your time.

Well, i have the same problem too. Whenever i turn on the EQ, the sound will be distorted. It will sound a lil upleasant. sweat.gif

I think this is a common problem with nanos. Their EQs sucks. Im using a pair of Sony MDR-EX71. Even with stock headphones, or some ciplak ones it still sounds the same. (OT) I had 2 creative mp3 players before and their EQs sounds good. Even when you tweak it really hard (custom EQ rocks!) laugh.gif

I've heard from many users that the sound distortion when using EQs are normal, especially when the volume passes the half-mark. So its best to off the EQ, as it would save the battery life too. And pair it with a good pair of earphones. smile.gif

my ipod's lcd screen cant be use anymore...it doesnt show any graphic or text anymore...just a white backlight....its very hard to make my ipod play songs coz i had to guess the menu... so.... what should i do? can the screen be replace? if can...where n how much?

Just have a look in the Music Related under Garage Sales section. There's many people selling. I bought mine from yc_83. Very nice guy, came all the way from melaka for me.. There's even some sellers selling around 500+ just have to look around..
