but one thing she told me was that if you can prove that you go for dining but the merchant used a terminal which was non-dining, you can always call and mbb cs will give the cb to you. the best example is starbucks which should be under mbb2amex dining category 5813. so if you use mbb2amex at any starbucks that have their terminal not under mbb2amex dining categories, you can always call the cs and get your cb.

Thanks for your findings. It is good to know that Maybank will give cashback for the actual dining transactions, even though the transactions may wrongfully be given non-dining MCC by acquirer bank.

The same cannot be said for Hong Leong Bank. The terms and conditions for Hong Leong credit cards clearly states that cashback will not be given for transactions with MCC wrongfully assigned by the acquirer bank.

because i keep on insist to have the mcc revealed to me. i said that i'm frustrated to find sometimes certain restaurants using terminal which does not belong to their category. i said i encountered once a restaurant using a terminal registered under the previous shoplot tenant's terminal. luckily the previous tenant of that shoplot was a drinking place so it's still covered under mbb2amex dining cb (probably same owner changing different restaurant business). i also complained that not all starbucks using the same mcc which under dining so i need to know the mcc to avoid those starbucks outlets. then she said we can always call in, and they will put a request note and usually the management will approve for you to get back the cb.
