Alright, this is how it looks like

For me
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
List of visited countries
- Jakarta, Indonesia - been there around 10 times already. Not as bad as many people thought. A very packed city with fast tempo. Weather is similar to malaysia

- Phuket, Thailand - been there once for company trip. Was so quiet coz it was only half year after Tsunami. But nevertheless a good place.

- Auckland, New Zealand - nice scenery and weather. But very slow tempo

- Sydney, Australia - just there for few hours only. Managed to go to circular quay and witnessed some landmarks like opera house, nice scenery. Consider going there again

- Apia, Samoa - probably a strange name to many people. It's a tiny island in south pacific. Nice beaches but very undeveloped

- Bangkok, Thailand - I like the foods there, cheap and delicious, and people there are very polite. Language is a barrier though. (NEW)

- Mumbai, India - short trip, the impression it gave me is, the place has really high density! Full article in my blog (NEW)

List of countries I want to go (for now)
- Singapore - it's our neighbor, will be interesting to visit and not too expensive

- Hong Kong - watched too many HK dramas already, and tempted to see the real place.

- Others: Shanghai, Beijing (China), Tokyo (Japan), Istanbul (Turkey)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bragging thread, but just hope it serves as a useful input for forumers who'd like to travel oversea.

So now, post yours!

Indonesia - Jakarta
Was there for a business trip. So didn't get to travel around, just that I got sick there
*
It's a place for business anyway. So if you want to visit those tourists' attractions, it doesn't have much to offer.

But it is indeed a comfortable modern city where taxis are easy to find and shopping malls are everywhere smile.gif

Hmm.. am I the only one who has the impression that this thread seems to be more of bragging?
*
I never wanted it to be a bragging thread.

That's why in the very first post I've mentioned to put in description rather than the list only. So bragging or not is really how you wanna perceive it.

Perhaps, but most of the people aren't doing that, and phrases like 'nice place', 'good food' 'slow life' are too generic a term.
*
Writing a 300 words paragraph for each destination is probably a bit too overdone...that's why I tried to make it shorter (and also not everybody like you can come out with bombastic terms)

As said before, this thread is meant to be a sharing thread. Regarding whether or not people are bragging here, is a very subjective matter. Even if they do, I don't see it as harmful

Thanks for your comment anyway smile.gif

But still, I don't see anything wrong with nice scenery and friendly people. The scenery were indeed nice and people were indeed friendly. I can't really find more specific term to explain these two.

Perhaps, but yes like you said its all subjective. Person A might find place 1 exciting but another person would find place 1 boring because its not their thing or they have been to place 2 which is even more exciting.

Just one request, actually. Could everyone put in the year of visit? Because a place (especially in places like China) would have changed drastically over the years.

In fact, I could be more fussy and even ask how old you were when you visit (the perspective of a 15 year old differs from a 20 year old and a 40 year old), but that's pushing it a bit too far.
*
Thanks for your suggestion, I'll see what I can do about it.

And regarding the year, for me, they all happened in these two years so I don't think there's any great change laugh.gif

6) South Africa - Stellenbosch & Cape Town (the scenery there is breathtaking, its really nice place to go)

7) Turkey - Istanbul, Ephesus & Pamukkale (i think Turkey is overrated although its basically quite nice also)

Agree with point 6... Cape Town's scenery is really amazing! Nice beaches, mountains, floras and whatnot. And guess what, I could even spot Zebra or ostriches by the road!

Anyway, mind elaborating more about how overrated is Turkey? Actually it's one the destinations that I would like to go in future.
