Plan to propose to my gf. Saw a diamond ring in Love&Co, 0.56c ideal cut (Love & Co signature or something, supposedly better than GIA certified diamonds). Full spec below.

0.56c
VS1
H
Round diamond
RM15k including white gold ring.

Is it worth it? Saw this to be the best so far, surveyed Tiffany, Cartier, TSL, DeBeers, Le Lumiere, Habib rclxub.gif become more confused because I don't see much difference no matter how they try to sell their special / signature diamond. So far Love & Co seems "best" from my very limited experience. But not sure 15k is worth it for the spec?

HCA calculator from pricescope is 1.4 for this particular diamond.

Thanks!

I think u can get a loose 0.6ct diamond from Wah Chan, VS2, F colour, 3ex cut with GIA cert for less than 7k LOL that was a year ago when i went to get my proposal ring..price depends on how good u manage to nego.

My fren got a pretty good deal from Habib recently but dun remember the specs though, lower spec but larger size.

U r only paying for the design of the company, like Tiffany & Co's

U can always get a loose diamond from habib, wah chan, poh kong etc and send it over for it to be "custom made"...

*edit i think the special cut is the lumiere cut which is different from conventional ones

Really.. I purposely considered Love&Co because I thought lower tier in terms of branding... not too educated about brands. Only know Tiff, Cartier are the most exp.

0.7c at Habib around 11k+, didnt see any 0.6c. Prices vary so much.

U can nego for sure...0.7ct also depends on other specs esp colour..
I did stayed in wah chan as a trainee manager (for a while) more than a decade ago and the baseline is 30% discount for branch manager (which i think is still keeping the same policy)tongue.gif
Not sure about the rest but i got my diamond for 4.5k when price stated was about 6.6k or 6.7k...dun remember
Just dun look at the base price
U can get at least 25% by negotiating...i think my friend got more in habib

Did you see the diamond with the ASET and hearts/arrows scope?
The HCA score is good. but still need to check with the scopes.

Btw, what do they mean that their diamonds are better than GIA? You mean their diamond is not GIA certified??  hmm.gif
*
I did view it under the microscope, can see the shape but since it's already set in the ring I can't see from the bottom for the hearts shape. Can also see the inclusions which is very very minor.

They have their own "ideal cut" diamonds which sparkle more brilliantly than the GIA ones they showed. Or maybe it's the sales talk that made it appear to sparkle tongue.gif

I ended up buying this diamond as I felt it was "right" (no experience, so all pakai feeling) tongue.gif

This diamond is certified by IGI, I did some research and the lab is also quite reputable, not too bad compared to GIA.

Thanks to all for your guidance and sorry for the late reply, just got back from holidays

Yeah, can nego in most if not all the brands except maybe the highest ends ones. Probably marked up anyway for the feel good factor when you get a discount. No harm asking.

I suggest you to go for Wah Chan if you dont really care about the brand coz they offer a very competitive price. Love & Co i personally feel that the service is not good also the workmanship. I am wearing a wedding band from Love & Co, the engraving is very bad and lil blur, when I ask them to check few months ago up till now also no news yet. Poor service.

If your budget is 15K, then you may consider DeGem, Lazare Diamond ring too.

end up buy the ring from love & co. first they give 10%, after come 2nd time manage to ask more disc.

0.2 carat only. considering le lumiere as well, around 5k for pair with 0.4 carat, end up with love & co because i prefer the design more.

Me too, just bought based on feel. Already bought from Love & co & she already said yes, haha. It turns out she didn't really care about the brand. Maybe should've bought something cheaper T.T

lolol!!! I read from the threads here saying Love&Co has one of the most affordable and good looking wedding bands?

And also wah chan rough diamond and send to other branded shops for design/fitting would be a cheaper option?? meaning to say must know exactly the ring size for my other half?

Thanks!

GIA is one of the facilities grading diamonds and there's no such thing that a diamond "better" than GIA certified diamonds because GIA doesn't churn out diamonds. All these are just talks or "marketing gimmicks" to make their product more appealing. As far as cuts are concerned, triple excellent cut is the best cut money can buy.

Poh Kong has these Hemera diamonds and they spot 2x the amount of facets which makes them sparkle more than the normal cut diamonds but if i'm not mistaken, these are diamonds are not certified by GIA because they are deemed "abnormal".

i heard from my jeweler friend that these diamonds has no value because no collectors would want them as their are out of the league.

i don't think so. love&co is quite exp compare to other shop. love&co 0.2 carat cost me rm7k while le lumiere 0.4 carat cost me rm5k. But i really think is the most good looking bands (for my taste). it's simple yet it's not plain. it's up 2 u to choose, whether you want design or carat more. smile.gif

woah! that's VERY expensive.

I got my loose diamond from Wah Chan (GIA Certified), .5ct, D, VS1, Triple EX for RM8k and then i made the band from Love&Co. The band itself costs RM4k but it's really worth the price. the workmanship of the ring itself is just great, very wearable.
