Hi folks, i am going on a mission critical task for the next 5 days. i oc-ed the first comp in my signature to 295HTT, but it passed super PI32M and failed sp2004 orthos beta sweat.gif rclxub.gif seems to have no glitches when i use it for surfing and some audio editing juz now.

in the next 5 days the comp is going to run wavelab 5.0 and doing audio recording and format conversion etc. i can't afford it to crash/reboot in the midst of recording because i can't re-record the stuff. once its gone its gone.

Temperatures:
idle:
cpu: 20C (air con), 25 (non-air con)
ram: n/a
chipset: 43C (not affected by air con)

full load:
cpu: 28C (air con), 38C (non air-con)
ram: n/a
chipset: 47C (not affected by air con)

now... should i leave this alone or clock it a bit lower?? the speed difference if i clock it lower is quite significant i.e. slower. thanks notworthy.gif

must pass orthos... if not, there is no guarantee that it will do audio/video conversion without failure.

hmm... i changed my divider to 7/10 and HTT to 305, vCore to 1.45+110%.

now i am getting stable orthos. by the time i finish test 1 at 3mins 30 secs, my PWM IC hits 57C and proc about 46C . i read that pwm ic can take more than 70C(stable) and 108C(rated) and proc max is 69C. can anyone verify my data?? rclxub.gif

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...rrerid=&t=60200
http://www.heatsink-guide.com/content.php?...t=maxtemp.shtml

edit: stopped orthos when pwm ic hits 59 and proc hits 49.

currently back to 295HTT@2.6Ghz@1.45v divider 9/10. ram is 2.6v@265Mhz 3-4-3-8. the temperatures are ok.

i can do orthos stable at 310@1.57v divider 7/10. but the temp of proc and pwm ic keep climing until i stopped orthos as posted in my previous post. wonder should i continue... haven't seen it come to a static temp yet.

yeap, dually is freakin hot... in my case, stock voltage will raise d pwmic temp to near 60'c, cpu temp to 55'c & chipset temp to ~50'c. sweat.gif

that's why i perfer to run my x2 @ lower speed at lower voltage, dun really need that much of speed. smile.gif

how much is ur temp using core temp... use core temp to get more accurate temp... my 170 only doing 2.5ghz at 1.4vcore, 2.6ghz need 1.525v...zzz but in my opinion, i think 2.5ghz not much diffrence with 2.6ghz rite? so i juz pump 1.425v for my cpu to run at 2.5ghz... dun dare to risk my cpu at 1.5v + juz 100mhz increment...

@ footie
my dually is quite cool until i up the vCore pass 1.55 then i'll see the temp climing like nuts... this opty 165 at stock very very snail speed sad.gif

@ lichyetan
ya i dun dare to pump more than 1.55. but now running 1.475 is ok. 2.5 to 2.6 not much diff. difference only noticable when its 200Mhz more. but if the clock can reach 2.8, the speed is marvelous wub.gif unfortunately for me, 2.8 with sub 1.6 vCore will give me sudden blackouts/reboots.....

ohmy.gif i din compare core temp and smart guardian readings until now... look at the difference wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

mine currently 2.5ghz on water, 44c-45c load during raining day, hot day probably bout 46c-49c depends on my room temp.. i tried 1.525v before, reach 48-50c for core 0 and 49c-52c for core 1, u on air cooling rite? must be good heatsink, xp-120? btw, my room temp is 30c to 33c, i think... cause last time at my cousin house my old opteron144 run at 35c max load, 29c idle using core temp!!! lol...biggrin.gif

errr... i using si-120 with as5 and evercool 120mm fan. modded the 3pin to 4 pin.

do u get this difference between smart guardian and core temp also? smart guardian reports 10c lower than core temp doh.gif

ya... i think 3800 is definately hotter than 165. other ppl also compared and got the same results.

hmm.......... so we should trust core temp??? unsure.gif smile.gif

when i got this proc from dinster, he said since opty 144 can take 1.6 so 165 should take around 1.5. he say any temp should not be more than 60C.

anyway, found a thread here: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1080107

yup, core temp is more accurate imo. do u guys encounter a big diff of temp between 2 cores? my 3800+ @ load havin 5'c diff, guess d ihs not doin a gud job... sad.gif

as for d voltage thingy, i dun specifically limit d amount of juice. d limit speaks for itself when u see how high d temp goes. smile.gif

neway, have some progress w my ram oc here... just to share... tongue.gif

i'm not into pi coz those ppl who have joined d dark side will laugh when they see such a big number. i'm more into real stability, dats y i always use prime instead. smile.gif

removin d ihs? never come across my mind that i'll do so. it's only useful when ur on water imo, on air it doesn't worth d risk. sweat.gif

i guess there's noway way to unlock d multi, fx-60 is d answer mebe... tongue.gif

my water cooling kit which consist apogee waterblock not so well... although the temp are stable at 48c-51c, both core same, keep on fluctuate @ 1.525v, but i also dun dare to go for 1.6v... too dangerous for the opteron dual core... lol... btw, currently 24/7 using 1.425v @ 2500mhz

according to someone, u can pass prime but fail PI.. i not sure. and removing IHS gives u a drop of 5C whatever cooling you use.

just search google just now for unlocking method, unproductive sad.gif

lichyetan, my clock also around there. wish i have a better stepping sweat.gif
