Dear all, I will be joining a gym & this is my first time. My objective would be to lose weight, reduce that fat belly & build better stamina. As i have budget constrain, i cant afford to get a trainer. What would be the best thing to start out first? And how long should i do for each exercise/machine? Your advice is very much appreciated. thank you.

QUOTE(slickysalmon @ Aug 31 2015, 09:31 PM) My objective would be to lose weight, reduce that fat belly & build better stamina. For the above objective get a good pair of shoes and run 3-4 times a week for 5KM. Run ya dun walk running works and don't need to spend so much money edit: also watch what you eat This post has been edited by aaronpang: Sep 2 2015, 10:47 AM

If you are interested in lifting go lift.
If you are interested in running go run.
If you can do both then do both.
Google starting strength and "how to run correctly".
It helped me at the beginning.

If they have class, go for classes. Class can guide you some basics then you can train yourself on non-class day.
However, for newbie, it's important to consult the class trainer about your squat and lift posture. You don't want to screw your spine in long term of bad form squat or lifting.

you dont even need gym for that goals of yours.
just a pair of good running shoe, mix sprint and jog and some bodyweight exercise like pull up push up pumping, and eat less, and you are good to go.

Get a free trainer. How? Easy. Go gym everyday for a week whenever u free. Spot a trainer with their client. Pretend do beside so u can hear or see how they do it. Simple as that. Then rmb the time and day. Come back every same day n time.

But sometimes the client might reschedule to other time. Also, the PTs (commercial gyms) could be just simply throwing some WoD for the clients.
