Dear Pros,

Good day, I would like to seek for advice on my NCB transfer.

I bought a second hand car back in Dec 2014, by the time the car dealer advised me to make full pymt for the motor insurance for my new car then later part after transferred the name only I do NCB transfer n refund in order to faster the process.

But day after the dealer did not help me out but ask me to do it by myself in JPJ.

MaY I know whether the NCB still available by now since it was last year December?
And what's the procedure to do the NCB transfer if it still available?

Pls advice, it's 38% discount if I'm not wrong ... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Just contact ur previous insurance company .once u get the letter from them..sent to new car insurance company. The new car insurance will refund the 38% rebate.

Your dealer was very lazy not to do even the minimum for you and giving you lousy advice. As a result you have to chase around to get your NCB refund.

If you are at max your NCB is 55%. Your NCB is safe for 1 year after you terminate your insurance.

Just contact your present insurance company to transfer your NCB and get your refund. There is no need to get a letter from your previous company because NCB can be checked online now.

check your ncd here
https://www.mycarinfo.com.my/NCDCheck/Online

if your ncd is not being used by another vehicle, it is floating and free to be put into your current "new" car.

if it is being used on another car, u will have to withdraw that ncd from the said car insurance.

ncd reduces every year if left unused, the direct opposite way it increases every year till max 55%. doesnt "burn/hilang" immediately if unused.

Yes, you need to accumulate your NCD from zero. Can't transfer NCD from one driver to another.

NCD follow insured driver's name. Not named driver. So you need to start from zero.

Non transferable between different vehicle class: car to motor. Or vice-versa.

BUT i am also insured right? as 2nd driver?

is there any way i can continue use my sister's name on my car im driving (actually belongs to me) to make use of the NCD
BUT
at the side i draft a legal letter to say the car belongs to me? lololollll.... trust within family is not questionable, just being safe by having things black and white

Yes, as a named driver (or not), the car is insured, provided owner gives consent to drive the car.
The difference is no excess on claims for non-named driver.

Insurer doesn't care you pay monthly installment or what, even if you provide proof of monthly payment. Legal wise will follow documentation as stated. Any claims, money/cheque will issue to your sister's name. Total loss will require her signature to sign it off as well.

You may continue to buy a new car under your sister's name and utilise the NCD. However, how far can you go on this ? Forever until death years later ? It's better for you to start from zero and build your NCD history. Everyone need to go through this path. Sooner or later when you buy a more expensive car, you will not regret building your NCD history on a much cheaper 50k-150k car.

e.g. you are not owner and car accident happen. Assume claim amount RM2k
If driver is not-named, i.e. not listed in the insurance schedule as additional drivers, even with consent from owner, insurer will deduct RM400 (example only) from the 2k.

Transfer name is treated as buy/sell process. Goto JPJ, I think can transfer as a gift. Or check some other threads here, I recall it was discussed before.

That's why I say above, is consider the standard buy/sell.
Summary:
Buyer (You) applies car loan. Get approval.
Your new bank loan settle the existing car loan. Balance will go into your sister's name (you go settle family wise). If not enough to settle, then need to pay top-up.
Do JPJ transfer.

That's the legal and proper way to do it. Unless you settle by cash, then no need loan.
You can't transfer (sambung bayar) a loan under different name legally.
