ive been looking forward for this kind of thread.
im planning to go to japan first and go to korea later next year.
any other info for travelling to korea??
*
if u backpack, language can be a major barrier.. unless in seoul.. outskirt places in korea, nobody speaks english. I guess the condition is slightly better in japan. But still, from my own experience, you don't learn much or get the maximum experience in korea and japan unless u know their language. which is why i am learning Korean and Japanese rclxms.gif

Icic...thanks ya... smile.gif According to stoopadity, the best time to go would be after mid April....I'm planning to go end of April...so it's a good time then.  rclxm9.gif

Now, I'm still undecided whether to extend my Korea trip to Cheju Island or Hong Kong. I can only choose one and I haven't been to both places before.  blush.gif

Basically, what are the things we can see / do in Cheju Island?
*
climb mount hallasan flex.gif enjoy the sun sand and sea. visit the folk village there. and got volcanic mountain also.

Hi,guys,going to korea on tour group tis coming april,got few question need to ask.hope probaly someone may answer my question;

1.i was planning to extend my stay at seoul for 2 days ,mean i wont come back with tour group.so is there any suggestion on which special place should i go?my personal interest was like muzeum, geek stuff, fashion(my wife)or some place like jln petaling(very happening).

2.planning to purchase some korea geek stuff, coz i saw alot of stuff i purchase here was made in korea, guess it will b cheaper down there.is it safe i buy stuff there?if i not mistaken ,korea was 110 compare to our 240v.Btw , any recommend what special stuff should buy there?is it cheap?

3.is it namiseom island far from seoul, bcoz our tour trip didn't go there.any guide?
seoul was about size of singapore, but if u see their mrt route,it like spider web.

i should hav some question more, but tat what i ask at the moment, thanks.
*
i came back from korea last december. i am not familiar with seoul but i know nami island is quite far away from seoul. about 40 minutes drive or so.. maybe more... u can guide daily tours to nami island. try visiting the korean tourism organization office near city hall. or maybe u can take up the DMZ tour too..

and the voltage is different. its like 2 round pin.

QUOTE(gallagher @ Mar 29 2007, 04:05 AM)
Don't part ways with your tour, if you don't speak the korean language you are in for a real mess.
*
yeah.. its true. no one speaks english there. but if u shop in seoul the people there can speak simple mandarin like numbers.

btw i merge this thread with another korea thread

most people buy the fridge magnet. I think u can get those paired korean costumes gal and boy.. 10 of them for 10 000 Won.. so each would be like rm 3.50

or else u can buy ginseng lo. ginseng there famous ma but u should be ready to pay la.

if u are following tours, the guide will usually ask u to buy so if u dun want to buy then insist that u dun want... coz they earn commission also.

other than that.. nothing much lor. handphone u cant buy coz they are using different type of HP which u cant operate by using sim card.
