Noted that! I am TERRIFIED of street sellers. shakehead.gif Bargaining takes a lot of guts and poker face skills! hmm.gif

Small shops in Dongdaemun never have price tags. When upon price enquiry, the shop owner will quote very high price. Unless you are a garment expert and u know the pricing very well, better avoid shopping in this area.

As for korean made down jacket, you wouldn't be able to read it from the clothing labels if the jacket is made from down feather, because most clothing labels were written in korean.

Anyway, it's not easy to bargainat those street sellers ep Namdaemun souvenirs stores. They alrad marked to the lowest & even display the lowest dy..Let them marked down themselve. Once you try, they walk away from you!

Added on December 22, 2010, 8:59 amThat's is why I decided not toget any winter jackets there..Those lightweight and confrmed down jacket is notcheap also..mostly >99K won and even the warehouse sales outlet that I saw in Namdaemun selling winter boot for 6900won having diff type quality of down..Those nicer designed winter clothings are cheap and they even offer it for 10K-30 won..but those lightweight real down nothing less than 99K won wor..  biggrin.gif
*
I bought some ssteel spoons n chocksticks from Namdaemun, can not bargain at all. Also in Namdaemun, I tried to bargain a fake Northface down jacket for 40k from 52k "opening price" by showing my four fingers, the old auntie just turned her back on me. But I glad she did that coz I found better bargain in e-Mart. tongue.gif

We visited Lotte Worlds theme park and it is much smaller than Genting theme park. Not worth to pay 3 times the entrance fee (37,000w) for more or less the same rides and a smaller "Genting theme park".

The A'rex last stop at Seoul Station is interchange with subway line 1 and line 4. Therefore, booking accommodation nearest to line 1 stations is most preferred because it is the most frequently used subway right across the Seoul city centre. Now you just need one line transfer from the airport to your hotel.

Yea, RM4k isn't alot in Korea... just barely enough to survive for a month.
That's why eating meat (any type, but high-grade) is mostly a luxary.
*
During the flight to Seoul, I was told by a Korean guy sitting next to me that fresh graduates are getting a starting pay of 2 to 3 million won (RM6k to RM9K) per month. Is that so ?

Yeap, that's about right.
3 mil won is about just how much a young adult would need to live happy enough in Seoul, without too much issues for worrying about food atleast.

What are the requirements for a Malaysian to work in Korea ?

It all depends on what job mostly.
But whatever the job, the best is to have a TOPIK cert as it will serve as a plus.
*
What about the job prospect in service sector like Hospitality ? Do you think a Malaysian degree holder + TOPIK who also speaks english and mandarin is well accepted to Korea service sector ?

is it possible to travel to korea with rm2000 or below for a single person? lol. im a student
*
Should be possible if
You can get AA cheap flight.
Cheapest accommodation.
Minimum shopping and entertainment.

Another way to cut cost is you can go to supermarket or food court to sample the free food sampling from several stalls/booths. Unlike supermarket in Malaysia, the Korean gives very generous size of food sampling to each tester.

For maximum saving:-
Going .....15kg + 7kg + 7kg = 29kg
Coming back......30kg(book under 1 person) + 7kg + 7kg = 45kg.

Hi there, I am wondering if would we be able to catch up Arex train to Seoul Station given that big amount of crowd (from Airasia) arriving at the custom clearance at the same time?

Added on February 19, 2011, 12:16 amOh ya, the meals we ordered in Airasia flight from KL to Korea, was it served during lunchtime or dinner time?
*
Seng, Going to Seoul again ar ?

IF no delay, AA always arrive 30 min earlier than the scheduled arrival. I took my own sweet time to change currency, rent a phone, buy t money and still can catch the Arex at 10pm.

AA don't really follow the usual meal time wan, once take off and air borne, they start serving meals already.

Yea, this time round bringing my family and my gf biggrin.gif. Flying next Monday. Oh? 10 pm? That fast? My fren caught the train at about 11pm, that's why was a bit worried coz it's gonna be quite late already after clearing the custom..

Hmm.. means they are serving during lunchtime. Alamak, need to eat after we alight from the plane. Thanks anyway!
*
I arrived at 9pm.

Need to eat upon arrival ? No a chance my dear friend. First, all airport makan shops closed, second, you need to catch the Arex. Maybe eat the noodle cup on flight before landing or tapao some biscuit from Malaysia to fill the stomach first. AA only serve light refreshments like noodle cups if you didn't pre book meals.

I book for all 3 telco on visitseoul.com, but only SK and S Roaming give a conformation.
I go for SK with rent of 2 phone, each  1,500 won/day (discount), and cc verification.
When I return it back, I need to paid 22,200 won including rental and another phone is 7,500 won only.
I use mainly to call 02-1330 and my other rental phone.
Definitely cheaper than roaming.
When I ask around (information, korean student) the night that I'm arrived, most of them suggest me to take  a bus to go to downtown Seoul.  I do believe, this is because they didn't know of the new AREX train  doh.gif . End up taking an expensive limousine bus 15,000 won to Seoul. When I go back to Incheon on my last day, I take AREX  thumbup.gif
*
U can't find Arex upon arrival ? I thought there are signs to lead you there ?

Tips to share (for non english speaking country)
Before departure, google up some picture of places, things, services, transport you intend to go, buy or use and take those pictures with you camera. Show these pictures when you ask the local for more info.
