Monsieur Henry could do it, followed closely by Drogba. Henry always takes a long time to warm up his "engine", but once it starts there's no stopping him.

With such low form, henry still able to score goals. U got to wonder how many goals he can score when he hits top form? I see no reason why the most consistant goalscorer in europe over past 5 seasons cant continue his scoring rate. If Drogba can maintain his performance, he can win as well.

Why so sensitive? heh. Just because people think differently from you guys? To be fair to them, they got reasons cause based on his last two seasons(after his move) in England, he got 10 goals in 2004/05 and 12 goals last season in the league. He was awesome for Marseille, but haven't really scored as much as a main striker should... not saying that he's a bad player or don't contribute, but people will judge strikers based on goals, especially if that guy is the target man/main striker.
Everyone is againts us... helppp |

Whats your point? Sorry.
Ruud was all alone by himself most of the time he was with us. Did it stop him from scoring lots of goals? And Henry can play alone by himself too, got to the CL final with that tactic.. not sure how many goals he would've scored, but with the way Arsenal open teams up, and his pace, he would've got 20 atleast. Rooney played well alone by himself, in his 1st season when all our strikers was out injured. Didn't score that much maybe(don't remember), but he's not a target man/main striker. He's a player who play behind people, a 2nd striker..forward or whatever you call it. Now, I'm not saying he's a bad player, or don't contribute anything else to the team, but his scoring record is a bit average before this season. Can't deny it. Playing for the best team in the league, but score so little. Glad... err I mean, its bad news for the rest of us now that he's scoring lots of goals. He was very very good for Marseille. He was linked with us(along with you I guess) before you bought him and Ruud got linked to RM again, and I was thinking that would be a good move, Ruud out, Drogba in. He was good, got to the UEFA Cup final right? But then again I also wanted Crouch when he was still at Southampton to replace Ruud/Saha. What is it with me and those unpopular players eh? |

LOLz, I didn't even be specific with the names, and they came out on their own.
There are too many people with selective visions, when Drogba is doing well, no one praises him. When he did something wrong, u can see those attacks come out for everywhere. Whenever it's Chelsea, it's bad. When we have a penalty stripped away, it's because it's unlucky day for us, we deserved the luck. When it's some other clubs, "HEY THAT REF SHOULD BE SHOT!" .. I bet u just dont understand simple english. I do have friends who are Man Utd & Arsenal friends felt unjustified for Drogba too. Only matured fans can sit and share stuffs together. Those who aint, will just go around and say "go back and tell ur own fans that, he was only lucky, this and that".
Anyway, it's pointless to talk to a person like u. This post has been edited by jdreamer: Nov 19 2006, 10:47 AM |

Feeling insecure again? Sorry, had to say it.
Nobody said Drogba is not doing well are they? As you can see, lots of people voted for Drogba and lots in this thread said it too. Only one person think Drogba is not good enough, then you came out with the lamers line. At least argue it. Be 'mature'... whatever that means to you. Like I already said above, based on his record in England, it's not that good for a main striker playing for the best team by miles in the league. That's what most people judge him on. And they're not wrong either. Drogba this season is showing a lot more though.. hopefully he won't keep that form for long, 'cause if he does, then everyone will have a hard time chasing you guys Its a forum, not all people think the same. Chelsea right now are the team to beat. You are everyones rival. Of course people won't be sad or feel injustice if you guys got bad decisions againts you. They're all happy when you draw/lose... cause you don't drop points too much over a season. I'm praising your team if you still don't get it. There. And that guy with the one liner, give it a rest... atleast no muppet word this time, not that it hurt me or anything. kehkehkeh ... Sorry if I sound too offensive or something, didn't mean it that way... maybe the countdown to the big game is starting to effect me. This post has been edited by Wan: Nov 19 2006, 11:38 AM |

Why is there always a Chelsea vs XXXXX scenario ? This thread is about the possible Top Scorers in the league, not about which team is better. U wana know which team is better and pull each other's hair about it, wait for May 2007 !!!
I dun think a Man United player will top the charts, and i really dont mind either. I feel its fantastic that all our players, no matter what position they play, can score! The likes of Vidic, Rio, Silvestre on the score charts actually shows we've got great players in the squad to score goals in opportunistic moments. Id rather we become champions than having the top scorer in the league and win NOTHING. Having sed that, my vote goes to Henry. He MIGHT not become the top scorer again, but he scores special goals. The guy is class. |

If SAF played Fletcher regularly, he too would score special goals on a regular basis. That guy is class.
I'm hoping Rooney can continue this run, 7 league goals, and he's not really turn it on just yet. Played well in some games, but a bit crap in front of goal(missed two sitters the other week), or just score 2/3 goals in one game. Weird guy. Missed a lot of chances last season too, Birmingham? and Newcastle games, we were flying that time too, but only score around two goals. Henry if he don't sulk and get injured that much would be up there at the end of the season, 1st or 2nd definitely. Drogba seems to be freed by Shevas arrival. If he play the majority of games and can keep this scoring run on, he'll be up there too. Its hard to play againts him, got it all, strength, pace, got a good shot on him too. A stronger and less pus$y version of Heskey and Saha with a much much better tpuch and finish. I'm praising him again.... gah. If Liverpool got a better team, and Beckham and the old Vicente as their wingers, Crouch would top the charts by far. I'm not kidding. |

QUOTE(Wan @ Nov 19 2006, 12:24 PM) If SAF played Fletcher regularly, he too would score special goals on a regular basis. That guy is class. i would say is either drogba, henry or kanu, but i voted for kanu I'm hoping Rooney can continue this run, 7 league goals, and he's not really turn it on just yet. QUOTE(jdreamer @ Nov 19 2006, 10:12 AM) well we'll see come may. no one is saying he's not doing well. most of us are just not sure if he could do it for a whole season. if he could do it, then he proves that he's class. simple as that. if not, he's just like bobby zamora. |

Kanu's performing really well under Redknapp... if im not mistaken i think he's now joint top scorer with Drogba in the league with 8... Wanna see somebody like RVN again in the league, especially the 4 goals he scored last week, his positioning is so deadly...

well..i'm not sure to vote for who..coz it still early, and each player especially striker for me have a same opportunity..sometime they score 3 times in a row, sometimes not score for 5 match, and even worst not score at all..but putting sheva in the list quit funny,

It will be either Drogba or V.Persie. Ronaldo might come close, but he's a not a forward, so he has less chance to score goals. Henry might have the best goal-per-game ratio, but I think his season will be interrupted by injuries.

QUOTE(matty @ Jan 11 2007, 02:47 PM) I was joking, but ur right, he has got potential. Rooney is a one off, english football depends too much on foreign influence nowadays. But as long as there a clubs like everton dedicated to bringing top youth through, we have still got a chance of finding another. Merseyside has a reputation for finding young stars......Gerrard, Owen, Rooney etc. (All past evertonians by the way lol). |

van persie have a chance if he's playing at the top with henry supporting his back. ronaldo, however red hot he is, still a winger. getting 12 goals aredi it's quite some achievement!

since this thing is up here mayb we can change it into discussion of who getting the Euro golden boot.
the race is still open, although Alfonso Alves is in quite a comfortable lead. |
