The things I don't like about this club are
People chatting on the thread like PMs.
Trash talk that doesn't benefits the readers at all such as "you wanna buy that I sell my kb gf half price you buy half price (some trash like that)" do check previous page.
*
Ya, thanks for the reply. Importantly, so important announcement or event will get flooded by those talk. sweat.gif

QUOTE(-Hzu- @ Feb 28 2016, 01:42 AM)
I thought of the same thing too (but not necessarily the same posts as you mentioned), #1 reason why I don't bother with Lowyat forums but then again this section doesn't add to your posts counts, aka they don't care whatever you post here.

Just like this post I'm writing.
*
No post counts, reduced those active users which come to farm post counts.
Last time, we do concern about every post, or trash talk.

QUOTE(belfong @ Feb 28 2016, 09:11 AM)
I feel we should have a newbie thread for asking questions about where to buy, what switch, etc and the usual Club thread to talk other topics related to mkb, not related to newbie questions. There are a lot of gem conversation here but it's often get derailed by newbie question.
*
Newbie thread V1 ? Definitely can do that.
Our current club here, is all-in-one, "jack of all trades, master of none".
Your idea, to me is to make a cleaner forum. smile.gif

World’s First Analog Mechanical Keyboard

Here is a look at a very special mechanical keyboard that should be useful for driving games and other genres that demand higher degrees of control.

*
Nice keyboard, this feature can replace the current repeat keys (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x). Open a new world in mkb.
Too many new keyboards with nice features.

Deswai I no trust ady. Rather get refund and buy the cap from other sources.
The shitty whiteknights are the best part. One whole page of people defending CTRLalt, then one reply from cody/bunny.

On top of that, too many personal commitment to be doing this. I doubt they get zero profit from this. I don't believe that shit at all.

"Tak balik modal" if doing community service for free. Unless, you will grow your reputation, then maybe different case.
But, from what we CLEARLY see, it's a well-plan company that doing for money.

Guess they'll kick anyone that gets in their way from milking beginners? tongue.gif

Never forget - RM150 soldering kits (55rmb from taobao) and TGR-china

I'm not in there, so really not knowing anything happen. sad.gif

Heh I posted a WTS in their page ( while their own group buy can be posted and pinned, such irony ) then one of the admin removed it and post about no selling and stuffs and get raged when I raise about the group buy and decided to kick me out  cry.gif

Well actually I have no grudges against milking newbie but at the very least don't tell lies la, if you source it from taobao u just tell it's from taobao, unlike someone few post above that lied that he actually owned them and sell them at higher price few years ago when I still newbie, now they make a fb group just to run their "groupbuy"  rclxms.gif

There is a dedicated page for trading. You should post it there if you looking for buyer.

If you bias to them, you should leave at early stage. Otherwise will have conflicts at the future like now.

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ Mar 1 2016, 09:12 AM)
OK. Let's be clear here. I'm not taking sides, and I'm not going to discuss anything that will not be relevant to the facts:

FB's MMKB group is for discussion. It will remain for discussions for the foreseeable future because there is a trading group. I have removed users/posts myself for violation of this, so this is nothing new.

As for the mech market group in FB, it is open to all to post, so I don't think there is an issue there.

As for your removal from the group itself, I will not say anything until a discussion with other admins.
*
Ya, I agreed that.
Although I'm not in that group, but it's should be the way of doing things.

Another 15 pages, we will moving towards V29.

Do you guys think our community is big enough in these years?

From my perspective, active members are less, very very less.

If we can expand our community a lot, then I will move towards building a dedicated forum for mechanical keyboard community.

You are right. Thanks for your time.

Building a low to high end, keyboards selections. My target is joining all keyboards club into a centralised 1.
Of course, will include all the makers from normal to mechanical, custom as well.

I'm very realistic, I don't make loss from doing things.
Finding sponsorship, donations, and ads for sustain the forum. blink.gif

True that.

Take for comparison Ergodox. Normal price is about USD199, plus shipping is around USD219. Keycaps go for the range of USD88 for a dox.

Low budget of around RM200 would probably mean that you'll never join a SP GB, and resort to cheap-ish taobao or Taihao caps.

Middle budget RM300 means you'll only reach dye-sub levels.

High budget of RM400+ would end up buying Razer and realize the cap profile all wrong.

Anything above that and you'll probably never worry about "price" when it comes to keycaps.

Question is, regardless of quality and feeling and all that jazz, how many people can afford the FCF/disposable income to buy an MKB?
*
I only owned a Filco now. laugh.gif
Meanwhile, Filco will be TM soon, because Inter-ASIA no more with Filco.

Look from bottom to top. We need more of lower end community (newbie) here before all moving to top.
Even you and me also start from low.

Once they have low end, they will move to middle end as they get priority on it.

If everyone target on high end from the start, the community not even can move upwards.
Many those rich young ppl lcly in the forum, all act like cb-kia here and there.

Appreciate you comments, I think if we can't do it, just leave it as now. Just normally come and chat here. laugh.gif

Any tips on how to do macro on HHKB?
*
You can use autohotkey in windows or karabiner in mac.
Both are using simple script.
What macro you looking for? Simple swapping keys?

trying to make a forum solely on mech keyboard a la GeekHack/ Deskthority?  hmm.gif
*
Not solely, I will targeting all keyboards included gaming, membrane. If solely, will not even make pass a month.
And to pass a month, need lots of collaboration from makers from all brands.
It's mutual interest subjects, where they can achieve the "reach" they want there.
And keyboard community can get the benefits from them as well.

Well, it's still under planning now.
Meanwhile, we still using LYN as free space for thread. Thanks LYN for this, altho no post count, no centralised, all-in-one lump in a thread. laugh.gif

Which switch is the best in FILCO kb?
Have a Brown FILCO now, feels great, great build quality, just the price is kinda high sad.gif
Saw some on geekhack says QFR is like a cheaper filco but with the price quality, is it worth it?
*
Ya, qfr also nice. Using costar stabilisers as well like Filco.
However, if you buy qfr-i, it's using cherry stabilisers.
Costar feel better.

i don't think there is any mkb less than rm200 in LYN plaza..
you can PM KuzumiTaiga for his selling tered
welp this is the most common things in any club or community..
people join the club and sit down quietly.. when there is a giveaway, they pop right away and start commenting laugh.gif
yeap.. this is the utmost strong fact in here..
MKB is too expensive to own one.. even I also pick the cheapest MKB for office usage sweat.gif
*
lol
Yup. If not for work, then I also won't get a mkb.
But, for me now it's must to get. I will get fingers fatigue if using membrane for many hours.
Coz typing more than 12 hours per day for 3 out of 4 jobs that need keyboard.
Well, of course I still have time for my own development.
The keyboard I always use is mx brown for sure, or 45g topre.

I dont think spending power is an issue unless you're aiming for higher end boards, I think what the community needs a stronger kick into the DIY area. Local mkb enthusiasts making PCB's...etc etc...instead of talking about expensive poison most people aren't willing to fork out for, why not talk about ways you can reach those poison by taking the DIY route. Promote customisation.

QUOTE(siles1991 @ Mar 2 2016, 03:45 PM)
The difference is also DIY can be done step by step, like for example a RM600 board. Every month just fork out 200 to get the parts, instead of one shot rm600 for an expensive board, this promotes budgeting of expenses. DIY gives people more ideas to share, more reason to communicate with each other to share methods and solutions when there are problems. I'm a very DIY person, I DIY'ed some audio amplifiers, even my headphones are heavily modded, I'm a person who loves DIY and because I'm in DIY I used to chat for hours and days with people, from around the world even, we are sharing our ideas and what parts we can use locally or internationally.

If all you're thinking about is the price, then the community isn't going anywhere except Window shopping or Cuci mata. For example GH60 satan pcb costs about 100, case get a decent one also another 100, gateron switches another 100 or so. Stabs etc, and leftover keycaps? RM50+-, if you already have a soldering kit that only comes down to RM350+- cheaper than a Pok3r. If you want plate and more expensive case then that's your problem. What's even better is that you can choose what keys you want to have what switches.

DIY was never an easy thing, but because it's not easy that people come together to help each other out. I don't have to hold my words, if you have personal vendetta against other people because of DIY don't push it on other people. I'm thinking on how to grow the community not bring it down.

hahaha.... yea... you are right.

those that I said can go 700+ are those that are willing to spend on "gaming" stuff  laugh.gif

if those that genuinely cannot afford, then yea, even a RM100+ keyboard is expensive  sad.gif

If fall on the "needs" of maslow hierarchy of needs, then buy it. <-- My case.
If fall on "wants", that's why RM 100 feel so expensive.
