google and you'll find wikipedia eventhough I don't 100% trust wiki.
But hell...good source of information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bond_(finance) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equity_investment just type bond investment or equity investment and you'll find tons of information for you to read and filter. |

Hi fellow Investors,
I just noticed that publicmutual website shows now only the NAV and not the selling price of the unit. Can I seek clarification over the % of mark up on the NAV at point of investment? Can any agent out there confirm? For Equity based products, for Bond products, for Money Market Instruments. Are there any tier-ed structure mark up? On top of that with the recent ruling on EPF withdrawal to invest only in local equity markets, it means that a lot of funds out there now seem off limit to EPF withdrawal program. What is the development of this? Only the few "certified" funds that can be invested in? What happens if I go into the "certified" funds only to switch to "NON Certified" funds? |

For those EPF investor out there, you guys must realise that eventually the money is going back to your EPF account if you're to sell your unit.
You still can't withdraw it until retirement. Just a note to all who deosn't know. |

Okay, gotcha.. how about funds that have been withdrawn earlier now in global funds or "non-allowable funds"?
Meanwhile, how is EPF going to track all funds switched from one fund to another? Its an operational nightmare.... |

yeah.....that I'm curios too...
I just know the rules; but how do EPF actually track... for i.e.; I withdraw EPF to invest in one local fund, 1 year down the road; I switch it to oversea fund, how does EPF know? |

Boon, even my so called "well versed" agent was dumbfounded by my questions. Apparently BNM has not come out with further guidelines. I was just hoping to seek some answers here.
There is no way EPF can track the switch. Imagine people like me switch 2-4 times a year. Well at least this year I had not.. LOL. What about funds that are currently in funds previously approved now no longer approved just because they have 10% in foreign equity? In chinese, "beat until die" also I wont withdraw from PAGF that has given me 35% since Oct last year. Added on July 4, 2007, 11:55 amOkay I got the answer already. Old withdrawals can still switch between any funds within the old OK list. But new withdrawals will be governed by the new list. Does this mean that they will need upgrades on software to track all these? Do I smell someone making money out of our hardships again? This post has been edited by Grengo01: Jul 4 2007, 11:55 AM |

I haven't seen the new system. Having some IT background, I believe it's not a very hard thing to accmondate the IT system with this latest changes. To avoid confusion, just put 2 different tags for KWSP contribution pre and post July 2007 in the database. If it happens that you switch your old KWSP foreign fund to an existing new KWSP local fund, you will be given a new account code instead (as if you open a new account, therefore minimum 1k is required for such switch). Thus, they wouldnt mix.
If I remember correctly, public mutual has tagged the new KWSP system with "EP2". So you would be able to tell from your statement. |

I believe unit trust company is tracking this but not EPF. As when you repurchase, the money will be put back to EPF automatically, means they already tracking the unit you buy with EPF. So, same way, they can track your EPF in this case.

QUOTE(KeNNy @ Jul 9 2007, 10:50 PM) Public Mutual launches a NEW REIT type fund. Many analysists are bullish on properties sector, I will dump some money into it if I have money. But i think it will only perform after 2-3 years time and give good return (just guessing only). Pray that economy recession is not waiting there.Comments? It looks attractive, with a mgmt fee of 5.45% during promo period. |

QUOTE(KeNNy @ Jul 9 2007, 10:50 PM) Public Mutual launches a NEW REIT type fund. This is not a REIT fund, but Public Far East Property & Resort Fund also invest in property investment and development companies, and hotel & resorts industries, beside investing in REITs.Comments? It looks attractive, with a mgmt fee of 5.45% during promo period. The 5.45% is not management fee, but service charge. The management fee is 1.65% p.a. |

REITs Fund Returns is about 5%-7% in general. Maybe its a better defensive alternative than Money Market which is at 3%.
