QUOTE
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix. An entry in the longrunning Dragon Quest video game series, it was released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 in July 2017, and will be released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in September 2018, as well as for the Nintendo Switch sometime beyond 2018.

Dragon Quest XI continues the gameplay of previous games in the series, in which players explore worlds and fight against various monsters, including the ability to explore high areas.

Unfortunately no , they have intentionally not doing the voice overs for JP / Chinese and were still using the transparent frame menu because Japanese old school DQmania like them.

Not to mention I often find the English voice acting a little distracting in most localized jRPG.

Regardless this is a must play , especially the epilogues of the game. .
Time travel in an old fantasy game is just way too cool smile.gif

P/S : Did I mention You get free games ( actual free games which are redeemable on PSN ) by beating DQ11 ?

I was very skeptical on English voice over for all JRPG, IMO most are horrible, until DQVIII, which is top notch
love the heavy accent they used, hope it will be similar for the English ver of XI

Updated the thread so it will look more dated and nicer.

Well hopefully there is a Japanese audio for NA release. If not that's a big let down for me.

No , the entire Japanese version is not voiced , not a single line . Like the DQ8 Japanese version had no vocals at all .

The series director wanted the game to remain fresh but still giving off the nostalgic vibe to the long time DQ fans. Yea I know the Japanese retro gamers are weird like that
At the same time they have also remastered the previous iconic soundtracks from DQ 6 , DQ 7 and DQ8 to be reused in some of cutscenes , which is extremely well done .

On the external , the game may look like a childish Oldschool jRPG .
But it is actually a masterpiece with Toriyama's artstyle captured perfectly on Unreal engine , matched with some of the best game presentation Square Enix has ever done in the last 20 years .

If you ask me , this game BLOWS the FFXV to the water . Not that it actually means anything

Then i'll play it with no voice if it's an option cool2.gif
FFXV not even that good, rushed in the end.

Dragon quest is one of the few remaining JRPG still traditionally rooted to the formula which defines it. Look at FF15, if it's still FF or not.

What I like is , they stick to the old formula and improve upon it . It is fun to play , not overly complicated yet have depth of gameplay. The real time party member switch (like Pesona 5 ) is great so you don't have to leave out anyone behind and use them equally .

It has a lot of what we liked in the old games , gigantic hidden bonus dungeon to be found , A whole new world of Epilogue to unlock new story post ending , a whole bunch of sweet costumes for every of these likable and playable characters , all come at no extra cost of silly DLC or microtransaction .Sadly these days that almost sound like a miracle.

What FF15 did on the other hand was the complete opposite , look at how they are selling Pay2win overpower weapons via DLC packs disgust me
Its not a bad game , just not ever going to live up to the brand 's name .

One rather stick to it's core, and the other one prefers to try something new and go the modern route. I think you need both of this types of games in the end.

Tho this days RPG which is more traditional appeals more lately.

Just waiting to get my hands on this game, seriously slow as f. Wish it came out sooner.
